Touch CCD Hand-Held Scanner Laser Hand-Held Scanners

The CCD hand-held scanners are commonly
known as touch scanners. It reads barcodes
with infra-red light instead of laser light. The
distance from the barcode and the readable
barcode width is limited as a result of the
technology.
The preferred application areas are
specialized retail such as bookshops/
newsagents, service stations and the textile
trade. The CCD hand-held scanners are
available with both RS232 and keyboard
wedge interfaces.
The laser hand-held scanners can detect
barcodes up to a distance of 28cm. They are
ideally suited for capturing data of bulky
goods such as those found in DIY stores,
electrical goods stores and incoming goods
departments.

Presentation laser scanners

As omnidirectional laser scanners which
direct the laser beam in all directions by
means of a rotating mirror, presentation
scanners are used where space is at a
premium and when scanner performance is
a critical component of efficiency and
success. With optional mounts, operators
can position the scanner at various angles
to create a work environment that is highly
convenient, comfortable, and productive.
The omni-directional scan pattern virtually
eliminates the need for operator training
and minimizes the need to adjust or orient
individual items. Barcodes are read simply
by being guided to the scanner window or
by the scanner being moved to the
barcode like a hand-held scanner.
