A town named Labis

Did you ever heard a place named Labis.Labis is a town situated on northen state of Johor on the Segamat district which is the origin of Malaysia famous textile retail Jakeland well known Durian Segamat .Labis was founded during British invasion.It originally named as Labi-labitown.It named Labi-labi because there once a river which full of Labi-labi. One day a British officer came to this place and asked what is the name of this place.They said it Labilabi village.The officer thought it was a plural form and change it to Labis.Then the name is still stick until now. Labis is only a small district which consist of 3Felda settlement,and several village.One of the Felda settlement is my birthplace Felda Tenang.Labis is a multiracial town which consist of three main races that is Chinese,Malay,Indian and no to be forgotten aborigines people.It was the british rule and divide policy that make up this town(as mainly trader on this place is chinese).During the communist era,labis was labelled black spot and therefore British had set up new village(Kampung Baru)for chinese community to curb the influence of communist.Apart from Kg.Baru,other evidence of invasion is an antique building believe to belong to Japanese troop during their invasion. Apart from rich of history,it also rich with natural goodness like Air Panas Natural Hotspring and also Taka Meluh waterfall.This two places were famous among local and outsider.Air Panas natural hotspring had regular visitor from neighbouring country,Singapore.It was believe that this hotspring were able to cure skin diseases,and also gave relaxation to those who bath at there.To those who want see natural rainforest,Taka Meluh is the best place.Situated on Hutan Simpan Labis at Kg.Tenang which a few kilometres away from the hotspring.It chill water and the singing of bird make people feel calm.If you are lucky,you can see wild animal at action like Monkey,Elephant and sometimes Tiger.But do not worry as this animal will not harm you as long as you not harm them.Taka meluh name was originated from aborigines people that means reservoir(Taka) and sleepy(meluh). During fruity seasons,you can enjoy many local fruits such as Mata Kucing, langsat, Durian and Manggis.Talk about food,there is a special dish during Hari Raya that is lemang periuk kera and daily local dish such Asam Pedas Ikan Mayong/Duri.Periuk Kera can largely found on the jungle around the village that why it famous among local people. It not hard to get to labis as there is public transport that go to this town.You can either take a Bus directly to this town,take a KTM intercity train or you can also drive by yourself by using PLUS highways.From the town,you can take a cab to go your designated places.
