February 24, 2010 in Uncategorized | Tags: syed the aim of this article is to share with brother in eman, the azmat of sadaat. and the various traditions which are present in our ahadeeth books. we start off with Allama hussein bakhsh jara writes in his book LUMAT-UL-ANWAR FI AQAID-UL-ABRAR(a book written on shia beliefs) Page 334-335 , published by MAKTABA ANWAR-UN-NAJAF, darya khan

That our belief is that their respect is wajib/compulsory. And whosoever looks down upon them is ignorant of the status of mohammad and aal-e-mohammad. and we do not need any verses or ahadeeth to prove this. Just their nisbat/attribution to the mohsin-e-azam is sufficient to make their respect wajib. There are a lot of things which are respected because of nisbat. For example, mountain safa and marwa became shaairullah because of their nisbat with hazrat hajra. Chah-e-zamzam became aab-e-shafa (water which gives health) because of nisbat of hazrat ismail. The pages, binding and cloth of quran is respected because of its nisbat. And the carpet of mosque is respected because of nisbat. And in shias, we pay even more attention to nisbat. For example, the shabih of taazia, dhuljanah, imam bargah, alam, etc are all repected because of nisbat. So what should be the need for proofs for respecting progeny of ali and Fatima? Their relation is blood linked, and not temporary; and that is more important. So their can be no doubt in their respect. Therefore, whosoever disgraces them, or makes other disgrace saadaat, or does such act which gives them disgrace; it is like he is disgracing mohammad and aal-e-mohammad. because respect of NISBAT is respect of AASAL. And disgrace of nisbaat is disgraces of aasal(the original which is being given nisbat to). Therefore, those whom have been forbidden sadaqa because of nisbat, their respect is also wajib. And as regards to their pious and sinners, let us quote a hadeeth of prophet AKRIMO OOLADI SALIHEEN LILLAH WA TALIHEEN LI respect the pious in my progeny for the sake of allah And the sinners, because of me (laali-ul-akhbar, 315) After all, the decisions of qayamat are with allah, he would give the pious accordingly their reward, And punishment to sinners. so we see that allama sahab has given a very good overview of what shia aqeeda should be in regards to sadaat. let us see some more ahadeeth

FOR WHOM WILL HOLY PROPHET INTERCEDE? We find in ayoon akhbar ur raza, vol 1, chapter 26, page 476 2

. A neighbor to the Kufa Mosque Ali ibn Isa may God be pleased with him narrated that Ismail ibn Ali ibn Razin the brother of Debel ibn Ali al-Khozaee quoted on the authority of Ali ibn Debel (al-Khozaee), on the authority of Abul Hassan Ali ibn Musa AlReza (s), on the authority of his father (s), on the authority of his forefathers (s), on the authority of Ali (s) that Gods Prophet (s) said, There are four groups on whose behalf I will intercede on the Resurrection Day: Those who honor my offspring after me; those who fulfill their needs; those who try to assist them in times they need them; and those who love them both wholeheartedly and verbally. same hadeeth is also present in the said book, in vol 2, chapter 31, narrations from imam ali raza, page 12. and in man la yahdaral faqih, vol 2, urdu version, page 4, chapter the reward of behaving well with progeny of ali, hadeeth 1726 ahadeeth similar to these are present in many other books let us see a few of them we find A similar narration has been quoted by syed hassan abtahi, in his book ANWAAR-EZAHRA, page 167, where he quoted from tohfa-tun-najba fi manaqib ahlul aaba That prophet said whosoever wishes to see me as being indebted to him, and wishes for my shafaat, he should treat my progeny with love and do good with them And syed hasan abtahi quoted on page 166 of ANWAAR, from amali, sheikh tusi That imam jafar said

whosoever will help my progeny and give a zarra/dot, holy prophet will pay him back with qantar and we find in man la yahdaral faqih, vol 2, urdu version, page 48 chapter the reward of behaving well with progeny of ali; hadeeth 1727 imam jafar said that on the day of qayamat, an announcer would say o people! Be quiet, mohammad wishes to talk to you People would turn silent Holy prophet would say if there is anyone who has done ihsaan/favor to me, who has served me, who has done good job for me; he should step forward, so that I can repay him People would say from all corners may our parents be sacrificed on you,,, how can we do favor, or serve you; rather it is allah and his prophet who has done favor, ihasan and blessing Prophet would say whosoever has given protection to anyone from my ahlubait, or done good deed, or given clothes to one who was not having it, or given food when he was not having it; he should step forward and I ll repay Some people would stand and allah will say o mohammad! because of their good deeds, I am giving you the option to do what you wish to do for these; and give them place in paradise where you wish Imam further said holy prophet would place them in the place of MAQAM-E-WASILA, where there will be no veil between them and mohammad and his ahlubait we find in amali, sheikh sudooq, majlis five, hadeeth 4 a prayer of bibi fatima on the day of qayamat. the back ground of the hadeeth tells us that she would come in a way which would show her glory on that day, and then she would pray

o allah and my lord! my progeny and my shia, and my lovers and lovers of my progeny; then allah would call where are progeny of fatima, and her shia, and her lovers, and lovers of her progeny, angels would bring them forwardin mercy, fatima asws would step ahead till they enter paradise interestingly, we find ayesha saying (in amali, sheikh tusi, 11th chapter, urdu version, printed by idara mihaj-us-saliheen, page 463) that abdur rehman narrated from his father who narrated from ayesha that she said that whosoever will feed aal-e-mohammad for three days, and obey them as well, he would definitely meet allahs mercy. so, in short we can say as syed hassan abtahi wrote in his book anwaar-e-zahra, on page 159; from JAMI-UL-AKHBAR your duty is to love my progeny, no doubt, their love will take you to paradise,, and be scared of grudge against my ahlubait, that will take you to hell THOSE WHO WILL HURT THE PROGENY OR WILL HAVE GRUDGE FOR THEM we find in ayoon akhbar ur raza,vol 1,chapter 25, page 470-471; also in sheikh sudooqs amali, majlis 53, hadeeth 10 . Ahmad ibn Muhammad ibn Razma al-Qazvini narrated that Ahmad ibn Isa al-Alawi AlHusseini quoted on the authority of Abbad ibn Yaqoob al-Asadi, on the authority of Habib ibn Arta, on the authority of Muhammad ibn Zakwan, on the authority of Amr ibn Khalid that Zayd ibn Ali ibn Al-Hussein ibn Ali ibn Abi Talib (s) was holding his hair and said, My father Ali ibn Al-Hussein was holding his hair and said, Al-Hussein ibn Ali (s) was holding his hair in his hand and said, Ali ibn Abi Talib (s) was holding his hair and said, Gods Prophet (s) was

holding his hair and said, Whoever hurts even one of my hairs has hurt me. Whoever hurts me has hurt the Honorable the Exalted God. God will curse whoever hurts the Honorable the Exalted God to the extent of the heavens and the Earth. and we find in ayoon akhbar ur raza, vol 2, chapter 31, page 18, hadeeth 11 11 . According to the same documentation, Gods Prophet (s) said, Gods Wrath and that of his Prophet (s) is encompasses whomever sheds my (offsprings) blood and bothers the members of my Household. and we find in amali, sheikh sudooq, majlis 49, hadeeth 3 3 . ( ) ( )

imam jafar said that holy prophet said that when i would be on the status of mahmood, i would do shafaat for even those who have indulged in major sins, and allah will accept my shafaat; but i wont do shafaat for those who have hurt my progeny. syed hassan abtahi wrote in his book anwaar-e-zahra, page 159; from JAMI-UL-AKHBAR whosoever will have grudge for my progeny, he will be away from mercy of allah, and will be cursed one so we summarize this with the hadeeth Syed hassan wrote on page 183 of his anwaar that it is written in mahasin barqi that imam sadiq narrated from holy prophet that those who have grudge against my progeny will be judged in qayamat with jews. People asked him even if he recites kalima? Prophet said yes, the advantage of this kalima is that his blood was saved in this world, and were pardoned jizya; such people would come with jews

A person asked why is it so, o prophet? Prophet replied those who testify touheed and risalat, and yet have grudge for my progeny; are amongst those who would make dajaal their leader if they are present in his era Also, he quoted a hadeeth from amali, sheikh sudooq, where prophet said that those who have grudge/enemity for ali and his progeny, and speak against them,, are the ones who are companions of hell. STATUS OF SADAAT:till now, we just wrote a few ahadeeth as to the fact that shaafat will be for those who respect sadaat and hell fire is for those who have grudge for them we start with Syed hassan abtahi writes in his book ANWAR-E-ZAHRA urdu version, published by WALI-UL-ASR trust, page 135 ahadeeth in this regard have reached to the extent of tawatur from shia and sunni books that holy prophet said kullo nasbun monqata yom ul qayamat illa nasbi All nasb will be cut down on the day of qayamat except my nasb let us see, a few glories of sadaat ORDER OF INFALLIBLES while mentioning the verse 22 of surat shoora, regarding ajar-e-risalat, syed hassan abtahi wrote on 149 I noted down from sharah baab hadi ashar and skiekh miqdaads lawamiI illahia it is a must/wajib that we love progeny of mohammad asws as per ayat of mowaddat; and as per ahadeeth, it is a must that we respect both pious and non-pious Syed hassan abtahi quoted from zakhair-ul-uqba and illal ush sharay; on page 159 of anwaar

love allah because of the blessing he has given; and love me because of the order of allah; and love my progeny because of me And from zakhair love my progeny, loving them is loving allah And also, he quoted on page 159; from JAMI-UL-AKHBAR your duty is to love my progeny, no doubt, their love will take you to paradise,, and be scared of grudge against my ahlubait, that will take you to hell

LOOKING AT THE FACE OF SYEDS IS IBAADAT We find in amali, sheikh sudooq, majlis 49, hadeeth 2 2 ( . Muhammad ibn Al-Hassan ibn Ahmad ibn al-Waleed may God be pleased with him narrated that Muhammad ibn Al-Hassan al-Saffar quoted on the authority of Ibrahim ibn Hashem, on the authority of Ali ibn Mabad, on the authority of Al-Hussein ibn Khalid, on the authority of Abil Hassan Ali ibn Musa Al-Reza (s), Looking at our progeny is worshipping. They asked Al-Reza (s), O son of Gods Prophet! Does that apply to looking at just you, i.e. the Immaculate Leaders from the progeny of Gods Prophet? Or does that apply to all of the people from the progeny of Gods Prophet? Al-Reza (s) replied, Of course, looking at anyone from the progeny of Gods Prophet is worshipping. with same sanad, sudooq quoted this hadeeth in ayoon, vol 2, chapter31, page 71, hadeeth 196 with the difference that there are additional wordings of as long as he/she has not deviated from the straight path and not unpurified himself by committing sins. Syed hassan narrated on page 220 of his anwaar, from man la yahdaral faqih, that infallible said that looking at kaaba, parents, quran, and aal-e-mohammad is ibaadat. STANDING IN RESPECT FOR SYEDS ) ( ( ) )

let me share the work of syed hassan abtahi again there is a chapter in this book, on page 209 it is mustahab mokad for non-syeds to stand for syeds And in this chapter, we find that he quoted a hadeeth from kutab sulym bin qais That holy prophet said respect my progeny in my life and after that; and do not stand for anyone except my progeny; and when I ll stand at the doors of paradise, I will do shafaat of my progeny first Abtahi says that this hadeeth is also present in roda-tul-kafi And he further quotes from the book JAMI-UL-AKHBAR, in his book on page 210 That holy prophet said Anyone who would not stand after he has looked at my progeny, he is a zalim in regards to my rights; and only he is zalim in this way who is actually a monafiq and he gives the result that though not wajib, this does show that there is a lot of takeed in this regard. REWARD AND PUNISHMENT FOR SADAAT We find in ANWAAR-E-ZAHRA that imam sajjad said our pious gets double reward; and our non-pious gets double punishment Page 280 This narration is also present in MAANI UL AKHBAR, vol 1, urdu version, chapter 39, page 147. this hadeeth does prove that syeds do have a special characteristic,, and that they need to live accordingly TOMBS OF SADAAT

syed hassan abtahi quoted from the book MAZAR and HIDAYAT-UL-UMMA, that sheikh hur amili wrote that holy prophet said o ali!allah has made you mazar/tomb and that of your progeny,part of heaven Page 224 CONCLUSION so let us finish this small article with the reminder to our momin brothers that it has been shia aqeeda that we have to respect syeds. i would end by quoting from the famous book AITAQAADAT, SHEIKH SUDOOQ, page 111 he wrote -: . ) ) : ( Says the Shaykh Abu Jafar, the mercy of Allah upon him Our belief concerning the Alids )alawiya( is that they are the progeny of the Messenger of Allah, and that devotion to them is obligatory, because it is the requital of his apostleship. Says Allah, Exalted is He Say (0 Muhammad, unto mankind): I ask of you no requital therefor, save loving kindness of (my) kinsfolk [42, 23]. . The acceptance of sadaqa is forbidden to them, because it is the dirt contained in the hands of the people. And there is no purification for them (the people) save what they give to their )sadats( slaves and slave-girls, or to one another. But as for the khumus, this is permitted to them in lieu of the zakat, which was forbidden to them.

And our belief concerning those (sadat or alawiya( who act sinfully is that they will be .punished doubly, and those who do good acts among them will receive a double reward ) : ( ( ) They are all kufv to one another in view of the Prophets saying, when he looked at the sons of Abu Talib, namely Ali and Jafar Tayyar Our daughters are like our sons, and our sons, like our daughter )we end our article with this glorious hadeeth followed by order of aimmah (asws 81 we find in amali, sheikh sudooq, majlis 47, hadeeth -81 ) ( ) ( . imam abu abdullah said that when allah will collect from the first ones, and from the last ones, darkness will surround all; people will be crying and praying o lord! give us freedom from this ;a nation would come in front of whom there will be noor, which will lit all around people will say they are prophets a voice will come from allahs side no they are are not then they would say, they are angels

a voice would come no they are not angels they would say they are martyrs a voice would come no, they are not martyrs then all would say o lord! who are they? allah will say, ask them they would ask them who are you? they would say we are alvis, we are the progeny of mohammad asws, we are the progeny of ali wali ullah, we are the ones with whom allah specified karamat/respect; we are the ones who are in peace and satisfied a voice would come, do shafaat of those who loved you, and shias they would do shafaat, and that would be accepted. and we find in TOHFA-TUL-ABRAAR, urdu transaltion of JAMI-UL-AKHBAR by allama zafar hasan ; published by ZAFAR SHAMEEM PUBLICATIONS, KARACHI, oct 2008; chapter 99, IKRAM AULAD NABI asws; page 286, hadeeth 99 ) : ( . http://www.al-shia.org/html/ara/books/lib-hadis/jamea_alakhbar/101.htm imam jafar sadiq said do not mix more with progeny of ali; otherwise, this mixing will result in their hatred; rather love them from your heart, and let your love afterwards TOZEEH (by zafar hasan sahab):- the meaning of last hadeeth is that if you mix more with them, their respect will vanish from your heart; rather it is also possible that mixing of day and night (that is, more time) results in hatred and jealousy. ______________________________________________________________________________ ____
