The final eight players remained as the 134 player field narrowed in event #8 of the Winnin ‘O’ the Green series at The Bicycle Casino. The final table includes two WSOP bracelet holders and 6 other strong players looking for the title and their share of the $40,200 prize pool. The final table was set at 1:30am and on the very first hand, two of the short stacks found their way all-in against Tommy Hufnagle, 1998 WSOP 7-Card Stud Hi-Lo Champion. Albert Chamy’s pair of Kings and Kirk Morrison’s pair of 6’s was no match to Hufnagle’s trip 4’s (no one had a low) and both Albert and Kirk were eliminated in 7th and 8th place respectively. Kirk Morrison is also a 1998 WSOP champion with his bracelet in 7-Card Stud. Had Kirk made it to the final table with more chips he certainly would have dueled it out deeper with Tommy Hufnagle. Chips were traded and pots were chopped in typical Hi-Lo action until hand #27. Tommy Hufnagle had Will Barr, from Chicago, IL, all-in. Will had 6s-9s with a 3s-4s showing. Tommy had J-8 with a J-6 showing. Tommy finished with Jacks up and Will never found another spade. Neither player made a low and Will Barr finished in 6th place and earned $1,610. On hand #47, Tuong Luu, who had been slowly acquiring chips at this final table, had Albert Gallegos all-in. Tuong had 5-6 with J-J-5-9-4 showing and Albert held K-Q with A-Q-10-5. Tuongs two pair edged out Albert’s pair of Queens and Albert was eliminated in 5th place for $2,010. The next hand had Nobuo Hamamoto all-in against Tommy Hufnagle. Tommy has been playing a lot of hands and was responsible for most of the table’s eliminations. Nobuo finished with a pair of 8’s with no low (10-3-8-8-9-K-4) and Tommy had kept on making pairs (three pair: K-J-5) but used his Kings and Jacks to win the hand (K-K-5-5-J-J-x). Nobuo finished in 4th place and earned $2,410. The final hand of the event occurred on hand #49 when Irene Williams, who played very well at this final table, found herself short stacked after losing two hands to Tuong Luu. None other than Tommy Hufnagle (aka The Eliminator) had Irene all-in and Irene had (Q-5) with 4-Q-9-4 and a (7) on the river. Irene had Queens up but Tommy squeezed out one of the remaining 4’s on the river to give him the 8-high straight and 7 low. Tommy had (10-7) 6-8-3-5 (4). Irene Williams finished in 3rd place and received $4,020. Two players remained and the chip stacks were nearly identical. Tuong had 137,000 and Tommy had 131,000. A deal was reached and Tuong was declared the winner with his 6,000 chip advantage over Tommy. -Jay “Bugsy” Siegel BIOGRAPHY Tuong declined a photo op and interview. His tournament record (from pokerpages.com) shows he has a No Limit Hold’em title from the Mini-Series in 2003 and a 3rd place finish in the Mini-Series H.O.R.S.E. event in 2004.
