1) there r some bees in a garden..1/5th of them went to a particular flower,1/3rd went to another
flower,3 times the difference of the above two went to third flower..n one was remaining n it was
roaming around.. how many bees were there? (3 marks) Ans:15

2) Jim n Harry have the same number of marbles when they start playing. n then afterwards...Jim
gains 20 marbles and later he loses 2/3rds of what he had..now Harry has 4 times as many
marbles as Jim
has. What r the initial number of marbles that each of them had? Ans:100 each

3) F,G,H,J,K r some juniors and P,Q,R,S are some seniors...n there r 3 communities
Cultural,Recreation n Ethics..n each contained 3 members each..n each one was a member of
only one committee..
i) F,Q are in Cultural committee. ii)P is in recreation committee.
iii) J wont be in a committee where H or Q are there.
iv) G will be in recreation committe if S also works in recreation committee.
v) there will be atleast one senior in each committee. vi) R wont be in a committee if S is

in this 4 parts were there they gave some conditions and asked to choose from the options.. dont
remember exactly..
4) there was a community in which there were 1000 couples.In that 2/3rd of men who r taller r
also heavier n 3/4th of the men who r heavier r also taller n there were 120 women who were
both heavier n taller than men. So how many men r both taller n heavier than men? (3 marks)

5)A man drives with constant speed..n he after some time he sees a milestone with 2-digits..then
he travels for an hr n sees the same 2 digits in reverse order..n then after an hr he sees that the
milestone has the same 2 digits with a 0 between them.. so whats the man speed?

6) There were 2 systems A n B.14 degrees in A is equivalent to 36 in system B.and 133 in A is


equivalent to 87 in B.now what is the temperature where they both r equal? (4 marks) Ans:

9) Ms.Anitha got her salary n she spent half of it in shopping n gave 1RS to a beggar.After that
1/2 of the remaining money she spends in a hotel n she gives Rs.2/- as a tip to waiter.n then 1/2
of the remaining she spends again n she gives 3 RS as charity..n after that finally she is left with
Rs 1/- when she comes out. Whats the actual money she had? Rs 42/- (3 marks)

10) there r 2 children..one of them lies on Monday,wednesday n Friday n tell truth on every other
day.the other will lie on Tuesday,thursday n saturday.n always tells truth on other days..n both of
them tell the truth on sundays.. then which of the following can be deduced?
i)If its a sunday both will say so
ii)if one of then says a correct day then other will lie everything.

synonyms. find out the errors in sentences find out the correct verb that best suits some
questions on articles etc..r given.... n out of 500+ students who wrote the test around 147 were
selected for intws..n then around 110 were finally selected...
Infosys campus recruitment held at BVBCET Hubli on 12th August 2004. the
aptitude(wordings may not be same) and interview questions. English was very easy basic
english.

Q1. 4 teams,3 people they make some statements similar to following question:
The Bulls, Pacers, Lakers and Jazz ran for a contest. Anup, Sujit, John made the following
statements regarding results.
Anup said either Bulls or Jazz will definitely win
Sujit said he is confident that Bulls will not win,
John said he is confident that neither Jazz nor Lakers will win
When the result cameit was found that only one of the above three had made a correct
statement.

before it reaches washington.

of them is true. Find their ages.
Q5. 8 marks question on arrangements of paintings T,U,V,W,X,Y,Z with conditions like:
if T is selected X cannot be selected if U is selected Y has to be selected
if V is selected X has to be selected 4 questions based on this.
Q6.Samantha beat jim.jack was beaten by louise and xyz(dont remember the name) in that
order. Jim
was not first.Samantha was not last.Jim beat jack.Who won? Ans: Samantha
Q7.The minute and the hour hand of a watch meet every 65 minutes. How much does the watch

Q8. 8 marks question on some people playing some coloured cards.
Q9.Temperatures are recorded on 5 consecutive days. No temperature is repeated. The product
of the temperatures for 5 days is 12.Find the temperatures. Ans:-2,-1,1,2,3
Q10.I don't remember this questions but it was from old infy papers.

What do you like to do in ur free time?
They ask u questions about ur hobbies
What was ur project and why did u choose it?
Two puzzles first was a bulb hanging from ceiling touching ur head. You have to measure the
height of the room how do u do it?
Ans:I think it can be done considering the bulb as a pendulum and measuring the length of the
pendulum by calculating the time period
Second puzzle was the 8 queen problem. You had to arrange 8 queens on a chessboard so that
none of them cuts the other. Then they asked me if i had any questions.
NIT ROURKELA INFY(2004) he test pattern consisted f 60mins of analytical and 30
mins of english that consisted of Cmprehension, correct sentences, basic english.for english
refer 2 barron's guide. out of 206 they shortlisted 75 for interviews and then finally selected 47.
the interviews were cool. they mainly were asking hr and puzzles to solve.also were asking abt
the budget. some interviews ran for 15mins and others for 5mins.
following are the analytical questions. almost al were from old papers and from this years paper.

1. in a class there are less than 500 students . when it is divided by 3 it gives a whole number.
similarly
when it is divided by 4,5 or 7 gives a whole number. find the no. of students in the class.

2. Uncle reuben and aunt cynthia came to town to shop reuben bought a suit and hat for $15
cynthia paid as much as for her hat as reuben did for his suit then she spent the rest of their
money for a new dress on the way home cynthia called reuben's attention to the fact that his hat
cost $1 more than her dress then she added if we had divided our hat money differently so that
we bought different hats mine costing 1 and 1/2 time cost if yours then we each would have
spent the same amount of money in that case said uncle reuben "how much would my hat have
cost" Ans : Uncles hat costs $6.4 (total money was $29)

3. four family names are given and their frends name are given but not in order.( u hav to find
which frend belongs to which family) Each frend prepares salad using 3 different fruits . they are
given apple, cherry,
grape, banana., no two frens uses the same combination. Various conditions are given and 4
ques asked.
Which fruit did mandy didn't use?
Who is flures friend?
Name the fruits common btwn Erica and stacy?
This is slightly tough.(8 marks)
Clue: ( fill the familys name in the order given in ques ppr and respective frends name this is wht
I got, im sure) .Family name frends name jo Mandy flure Robin Erica Stacy (the other two familys
name I don't remember)

4. Find the 5 digit number which has 2 digits are odd numbers Digit 1 is one less than digit 3.
Digit 3 is the highest. There are no duplicates, Digit 2 is the lowest, Digit 4 is between digit 1
and digit 2 and digit 5 is half of digit 4 Ans: 71842

5. There is a simple mathematical puzzle set by Longfellow in his own flowery, poetical language.
If 1/5th of a hive of bees flew to the badamba flower, 1/3rd flew to the slandbara, 3 times the
difference of these two numbers flew to an arbour, ad one bee continued to fly about, attracted
on each side by the fragrant ketaki and malati, what was the total number of bees?

6. in a race 5 people took part...Samantha beat jack..louise was not the last,jack lost to
jim...denise lost to louise and...in that order(don't rem the ques.but was easy to analyze) who
won? ans: Samantha

7. there was a ques on some murder case.there were 6 people and 6 professions. amongst them
one was the murderer, one victim, one judge, one hangman, one policeman, and one witness.
The witness didn't see the event but heard some altercations followed by bullet shot.(conditions
were given like,..)
a. mark knew the victim and the murderer
b. the judge asked clark to give his account of shooting
c. xxx was the last one to see fhillip alive.
d. the policeman picked up graham from the place of murder (there were two more conditions)it
was easy to solve.

8. (don't remember the exact question)a man while sorting files picks up file number one, misses
one, picks up file no. 2,mises two files,and so on...after that he found that he picked up 5% of the
files. How many files were there? Ans:39

9. a man planting trees....that double every day.it took 50 days to COMPLETELY PLANT ALL THE
TREEES. how many days it took 2 plant half the no. of trees? Ans-49

(1) A bag contains three types of apples. How many apples should be picked from the bag so that
at least three of them are of the same kind? [3] Ans:7

(2) A conductor asks a boy his age, the boy’s father was pleased with the interest shown by the
conductor and replies: The boy’s mother is 5 times the boy’s age, I am twice as old as my wife.
My mother whose age is the sum of all our ages is celebrating her 81st birthday today. What is
the boy's age? [3] Ans:5 years

(3) Four people played cards, which had colors on both of their sides. The colors on the two sides
were different and no two cards had the same color combination. When the cards were
distributed to them, they kept their cards on the table with one side per card facing up, of course.
Each cardholder knew the color of the hidden side of his card. They spoke up one by one as
follows:
A: My card, showing Red above, has either Green or Blue color beneath
B: My card, showing Green above, has neither Green nor Blue color beneath
C: My card, showing Yellow above, has either Blue or Yellow color beneath
D: My card, showing Blue above, has either Blue or Yellow color beneath
However, later it was found that exactly two of them were lying. Can you find who was lying and
what were the colors on the hidden sides of each card? [8]

(6) Due to some defect in our elevator, I was climbing down the staircase. I’d climbed down just 7
steps when I saw a man on the ground floor. Continuing to walk down, I greeted the man and I
was surprised to see that when I was yet to get down 4 steps to reach the ground floor, the man
had already finished climbing the staircase. He perhaps climbed up 2 steps for every 1 of mine.
How many steps did the staircase have?
Ans:22 steps

(7) A man is preparing a decorative showcase for his precious stones Amthyest, Diamond,
Sapphire, Rupy, Opal, Garnet, Emerald. There are two shelves, one right and the other left. A is
put on the left side, while D is put on the right side.
R cannot be put where D is put, whereas S and E have to be put togetheralways.
There were four questions asked regarding the presence of stones, for example,

(8) (i) Which of these stones can be put in the left shelf?
B) which of these combinations are put in the right shelf
C) if Sapphire is displayed in the left shelf which of these occur in the right shelf?
D) if Sapphire is displayed in the right shelf which of these occur in the left shelf?
The question was very simple and easy to do.

(8) A boy goes to school from his house. On one fourth of his way to school, he crosses a
machinery station. And on one third of his way to school, he crosses a Railway station. He
crossed the machinery station at 7:30 and he crosses the Railway station at 7:35.
When does he leave the house & when does he reach the school? [5]
Ans: the boy leaves at 7:15 and reaches school at 8:15
x/3-x/4=x/12
x/12 in 5minutes
so x/4 takes 15 minutes, hence the boy left home 15 min before
7.30=7:15 and will reach school at 8:15.

(9) We were sitting in a merry-go-round. One third of the people in front of me, added to three
quarters of those
behind me, gives the total number of people in the merry-go-round. How many people were
there? [3]
Ans:13 people in all

(10) In a society of 100 persons, 85 are married, 75 have cars, 65 have own house,85 own
phones etc. and so on. Such four conditions were given. It was asked to find the minimum
number of people who are married and who have all 3 things.

3) Hobbies,I had written a few amongst which was Reading, so i was asked on the types of books
I read on what basis I select those books etc.

4) Tell me ur weakness.
5) Any questions U would like to ask....... The interview was very calm ,it was like talking to some
stranger on a train/bus journey,only a bit formal and that U cant get to know them. They didnot
ask me to solve any puzzles, however they asked others

1)is there any point on earth where U walk 1km north,east,south ,west and reach back the same
point
(Or something similar to that)

2) Magnet and iron bar which are similar are given U have to find which is magnet and which is
iron without any external aid.
