Dear Friends;

We are all coping with the unusual storm results affecting our communities and personal lives.
All of us at Covenant to Care for Children appreciate the trials you have been experiencing and
wish you the blessings of safety, warmth, and good neighbors.

Covenant to Care for Children has been closed the week of October 31, 2011 through
November 6, 2011 due to the State of Emergency here in Connecticut. It is unclear as of the
writing of this email when our Bloomfield office will be habitable or when our regular email
and telephone services will be available.

As most of you know this is the beginning of our busiest time of year serving the most vulnerable
children in Connecticut. I want to assure you that all of our programs will be up and running by the
morning of Monday, November 7, 2011 but that we may need to make special concessions in order to
continue serving our children. Please read the sections of this email with headings that pertain to your
relationship with Covenant to Care for Children with particular attention.

Our ability to reach out to you with communication may be limited for more than this week and
I offer my apologies for any concern or inconvenience this may have for you.
Communication
If you have the cell phone number of the staff person(s) with whom you regularly communicate, please
use those numbers instead of our CCC telephone. If you do not have a cell number already, we may be
setting up a remote temporary line shortly. Look for our next email.
For all email communications please use the following gmail address along with our regular email
address until we have access to our service again. Covenant2care4kids@gmail.com By sending to both
email addresses you will be assured of your communication being received.

Social Workers
We will begin filling Children’s Enrichment Fund and Critical Goods Program requests again on
Monday, November 7, 2011. Since we do not have a working fax, please download request forms from
our website, www.covenanttocare.org, email the completed form to the above email address. We will let
you know when our fax is operational again.

Checks will be mailed to you as usual. We will arrange for a pick up site as near to you as possible for
clothing, holiday gifts and other items that require pickup. We will let you know when and where the
requested items will be shortly after we receive your request.
Faith Liaisons
We are counting on you to step up in leadership of your faith community to provide for as many holiday
and emergency needs as possible. We know we can count on you! Your AASW Program Coordinators
are on the job ready to help you at every step of the way. Just call Catherine or Meral on their cell
phones or use the above email and telephone numbers to reach them. Our website may have helpful
information for you. Your work is the backbone of Covenant to Care for Children’s service to abused,
neglected and at risk kids here in Connecticut. You are our heroes. Please let us know how we can help
you!

Donors of goods
We continue to accept gifts of goods, including holiday gift items, at our Bloomfield office, 120
Mountain Ave. Please bring items inside the front door. There will be signs beginning Monday
afternoon, November 7, 2011 directing you to the drop off location inside the building.

Friends and Donors

This storm event and other considerations are making this winter the hardest year for our children and
their families. Please consider increasing your annual gift or making an extra gift this season. Covenant
to Care for Children has already exceeded our budgeted expenditures for goods for children for the year
and we are only in our second quarter for the year.

Mail is still working and donations may be sent via USPS. You may also make a donation right now at
https://www.networkforgood.org/donation/MakeDonation.aspx?ORGID2=061241044.
Our newsletter and annual letter will both be late this year as we focus our efforts on meeting the
increased needs of Connecticut’s children. Please don’t wait to hear from us, help the children now!
Rock the Hall
Our fundraising party scheduled for Friday, November 11, 2011 is still on! Please visit our website at
www.covenanttocare.org to RSVP and purchase your tickets for this event. Every dollar received on
tickets and netted from raffle ticket sales goes toward our ability to provide essential items to the
children of Connecticut who are most in need. Seems like a good time to celebrate community,
resilience, and you. Come party with us for a night.

Finally, please know that CCC considers you a vital part of our family. If you are in need
yourself and do not know where to turn or who to call, please contact us. We will do our
very best to connect you with the correct agency or organization to provide help to you.
Here in Connecticut a valuable resource is www.211ct.org. Either dial 211 or go online to
learn what services are offered in your neighborhood.

Stay warm, be safe and when you have the time and resources please consider helping our children. They
cannot wait, their childhood and futures are slipping away, unless we step up to offer them the hope and
opportunities they need to thrive.
Thank you,
Caryl Hallberg, Executive Director
