All students were asked to complete a printed questionnaire both before and after participating in this Programme, to assess the impact of the Programme on their own skills, and its benefit for their future plans. 99.98% of forms were returned and have been analysed for this report.

1. The Programme
Students set up and run their own mini company in ten sessions, with a music industry theme. They work together to appoint job roles and raise share capital before researching, designing, producing and marketing a product or service. Harnessing their natural passion for music, whilst gaining an understanding of the range of career options in the music industry, the students develop the skills and qualities required for business and enterprise.

This report has been generated from all the student evaluation reports completed during the academic year 20102011 total number of reports accounted for in this report 4717.

3. Key skills development


Students were asked to rate their key skills pre- and post-Programme, using a a four point scale: 1 "I have little/no skills"; 2 "I have some skills"; 3 "I have good skills"; 4 "I have excellent skills". For analysis, scores were totalled and percentage increase between pre- and post- values calculated.

6. Commentary
Having been asked to mark themselves pre and post delivery, the following is an analysis of the results by 4717 students for the 3 sections assessed. Section 3: Key Skills development. Of the 8 areas marked in this section there has been a significant increase in all areas. The top 3 being Planning which saw an increase of 19.8%, Dealing with praise/criticism whice rose by 19.1% and Solving problems which increased by 17.6%. All vital everyday skills needed when considering employment/self employment. Section 4: Aspects of programme enjoyed and found most useful. There were 11 areas in this section that students were asked to mark against, enjoyed, didn't enjoy or useful for the future. The results showed that most all were marked positively as enjoyed with the top 3 being, Working in a team, Being creative and Being competitive. The 3 areas least enjoyed where, Doing presentations, Managing your time and Leading on a task and the 3 areas though to be useful for the future were, Managing yout time, Making decisions and Learning about business. Section 5: Working towards future plans. This section saw students having to make a judgement on 5 areas whether it would help them for the future. All areas were marked highly as 'yes' with the top 3 being, Strengthened decision making, increased financial awareness and Improved confidence to achieve goals.
