Faculty Recruitment for Center of Excellence in Energy

IIT Rajasthan, located in the Sun City Jodhpur, is in the process of setting up world class research development and capacity building infrastructure for a solar research park in 200 acres. The objective is to bring down the cost of solar power which requires a concerted effort to (i) reduce both capital and plant operation and maintenance (O&M) costs (ii) Address issues related to technology deployment (iii) adapt solar power technology to local conditions (iv) empower Indian businesses to manufacture critical solar power plant components. The solar park will have state-of-the-art research and testing facilities both at laboratory and plant levels. International organizations such as CSIRO, Australia; University of California, Merced; University of Waterloo; and CEA France; will be collaborating with IIT Rajasthan. IOC, BHEL, and AREVA will be our industry partners. The institute is looking for experts who can lead the team of researchers and academicians to develop research facilities of international repute in the areas mentioned, but not limited to, below: Solar Thermal Solar field design and characterization, heat exchangers, air/water cooled condensers, open and closed cycle cooling, energy storage, heat pumps, system integration and design, mathematical modeling and optimization of solar thermal sub-systems. Solar Photovoltaic Low cost and high efficiency cells, silicon and other PV modules, building integrated photovoltaics, concentrated photovoltaic cells, modeling, organic cells, simulation, and characterization and benchmarking of solar energy performance, inverter design. Smart Grid DC/AC smart grids, micro grids comprising of solar thermal and PV power plants with appropriate storage systems such as batteries and fuel cells, communication and control applications, power electronics, interconnection between grid and plant, substation automation, wide area PMUs, demand side management of the energy sector, modeling electricity markets and distribution networks The positions are as follows

Qualification: Ph.D. with first class or equivalent at the preceding degree, and a good academic record throughout. Experience: Candidates with experience in reputed academic/R&D/industrial organizations are encouraged to apply. Industrial research experience is desirable.
