From our Pastor

The puzzle you see on the front of this issue of Faith Directions is a picture of belongingthe privilege God gives us to be a part of His family the Church. You will notice that the puzzle is missing a piece. The truth is, when a puzzle is incomplete, it will never bring complete joy to the one who works to put it together. The same is true with the church. The Bible says in Ephesians 2:19, Now you are no longer strangers to God but you are members of Gods very own familyand you belong in Gods household with every other Christian. God is building (putting together) His church, and without you, His church will be incomplete. This year, our annual stewardship emphasis is entitled The Joy of Belonging. I am convinced that the Bible teaches that joy, Gods joy, comes not only when we are served, but when we are serving; not only when we are given to, but when we are giving; and not only when we are shared with, but when we are sharing the hope that we have in Christ. As you take the time to review our Ministry Action Plan and the opportunities to give, to serve and to shareour prayer is that you will be compelled to get involved. And as you do, discover the joy that comes from truly belonging to His church. Excited to belong,

2012 proposed ministry action plan

Last Wednesday, the topic presented in chapel was on Heaven. Following Chapel, our class returned for Morning Meeting time, and we began to discuss the Chapel Service and the topic of heaven. We discussed that Jesus is the only way to heaven, as He told Thomas in John 14: 5 I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me. Previously that week, our class had been given a tract entitled Whos Knockn at My Door? I knew God was leading me to share that particular tract as a follow up to chapel. At the end of the tract we prayed, giving the children an opportunity to open the door of their heart to Jesus, to trust Him to save them from their sins, and to tell Him that they want to live in Heaven forever with Him. In order to better know how to pray for them, I asked the class to let me know if they had prayed to ask Jesus into their heart for the first time. Three students raised their hands! Tears of pure joy and gratitude streamed from my eyes. What a blessing to share Gods precious gift of the Gospel with these precious children! He is so wonderful, so loving, and so faithful! Jesus says, Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears My voice, I will come into him and dine with him, and he with Me. Thank you Lord Jesus.

Greetings from Northsides Veterans Group!

Our mission is to bring praise to God by recognizing the blessings we all have because of the service of veterans.
As Veterans Day approaches we challenge all of you to spend some time with someone that has served our nation, and to spend time in prayer for those who have served, are currently serving and for those that who decide to serve future generations. Parade news: Northsides Veterans Group will participate in the Veterans Day Parade in Columbia on Friday, November 11, so come on out and enjoy the Parade. Veterans Breakfast: On Sunday, November 13, we will have a Veterans Breakfast (biscuits, coffee, juice) at 8 a.m. in Room 241. Veterans and their families are invited and encouraged to attend. It would be a great opportunity for you to bring a guest as well. Quarterly Meetings: As you can see we are continuing to grow in numbers and activities. It would be great for all our veterans and their families to attend our quarterly meetings. We also want to have an outreach to veterans outside of Northside. Please invite your friends and co-workers to attend as well.
