greed, lust, anger, hatred, jealousy and other such characteristics. The words of the Arihant is called Jinwani or Agam. Arihant establish four types of Tirtha : 1. (Saints)Sadhu2 .Sadhvi 3. Shrawak 4. Shrawaki Sadhu and Sadhvi follow five mahavrat, but Shrawak and Shrawika follow 12 Vrat consisting of 5 Anuvrat, 3 gunavrat, and 4 Shiksha Vrat. A person who is detached from the world has to follow 5 mahavrat and a person who leads normal life has to follow 12 Vrat including 5 Anuvrat There are 5 types of beings in the world from those having 1 sense to those having upto 5 senses. We human beings have 5 senses (eye, ear, nose, tounge, skin which enable us to see, hear, smell, taste and touch) but there are atoms which have 4 or 3 or 2 or only one sense. There are one sense organs in water, fire, air etc. There are karma even by thinking. We are able to attach karma even by thinking. Thus the status of mind is central in jain religion. As per Jineshwar (Thirthankera) there is no creator or destructor of soul. There is no creator or destructor of this universe either. There is no beginning or end of this universe. These Karma take us to the status of Sidha state. A person gets or looses his body, his life, his relatives, his achievements etc. solely due to the present or past Karma. Our age, our health and our pleasures are all dependent on our Karma. We get new birth after death. There is no creator of soul or there is no God. If a person is able to wipe out most of the karma but a few are still left, then the sould reaches the status of demigod (Devta) and this is higher status but less than the ideal one the ideal status is that of sidha. Every Jain person should try to avoid 18 types of vices. These vices are the results of malintention or violence. The violence can be of following 4 types : By Man (mind) By speech
By Karma (by action) By approval (when we approve or accept a violence) Jain Religion believes in the theory of ANEKANTAVADA (the theory that there are many perspectives of truth and therefore different perspectives, which may look opposite can still be true). Any person from any religion can reach the status of Moksha (the status of Sidha) and this is called salvation. For reaching the status of salvation, we have to follow the path of 5 ideas that are : 1.truth 2. nonviolence 3. non-stealing 4. Aparigraha 5. Celibacy through = mind, action speech and approval. To practice Jain religion doesnt require that you follow the rituals of jain religion, you must understand the scientific interpretation of jain religion and you can achieve salvation you may follow any religion.
