Helioz developed an inexpensive and easy to use device in cooperation with the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology Zurich brand SoDIS, which indicates the microbial reduction in water through solar disinfection and thus ensures users an adequate supply of drinking water. WADI was designed for usage without any training and incorporates self-explanatory pictograms to ensure easy implementation and enhance the usability of the water disinfection tool. The patented device is made of recyclable plastic in line with Cradle to Cradle Design. WADI works energy self-sufficient with its built-in solar panel and totally maintenance free for at least five years (guaranteed!) and costs less than 10 dollar per piece.

WADI is an inexpensive and easy to use device that traces the progress of solar water disinfection in a PET-bottle. Solar disinfection is a simple procedure to disinfect drinking water. Contaminated water is filled in a transparent PET-bottle and exposed to the sun for several hours. The water must be relatively clear, and the bottles must be clean and unscratched. Solar water disinfection is approved by the UN and WHo for being the simplest and cheapest water disinfection system.
