Past & Present ?!

(present perfect with FOR and SINCE)

To ask and answer about when a routine started, we use the present perfect with How long (=Cunto tiempo/ Desde cundo), for (=desde hace) + a period of time and since (=desde) + a particular moment. Example: How long have you been learning Italian? I have studied Italian for over a year now. How long has your sister been married? She has been married since she was 20. THE PROBLEM with Present Perfect is it sometimes refers to the past (I have been to Italy = I was there in the past) and it sometimes refers to the past and the present at the same time (I have lived here for 2 years = I still live here). ROLE-PLAY the following dialogue models to practise that difference. Then answer these questions: 1. Which adverbs accompany Present Perfect to give a past meaning? 2. Which adverbs accompany Present Perfect to give a present meaning? 3. Whats Spanish for YET, ALREADY, JUST and EVER, NEVER and ALWAYS? 4. Whats Spanish for HOW LONG, FOR, SINCE, SO FAR, EVER SINCE and LATELY? A) Have you ever B) Yes, I have first A) Oh, have you ? When did you last first B) I last What Where How etc 2 (...)
