 Undergraduate:

BSc (Special) Degree in Mathematics, University of Ruhuna,

Matara , Sri Lanka.
Duration: 2002-2008

1
My final year research project was on the behaviour and applications of logistic
regression as a part of my degree. Here, I studied a several possible approaches
based on statistical regression (Survey study of the requirement of a teller
machine within the university premises for the public usage).
Also in my thread year I done Project in Meta analysis in heath science.
( Meta-analysis is a long established method of mathematically summarizing
research results. It is a developing field and we are improving our techniques
constantly. There are several comprehensive research websites that review the
details of meta-analysis and we report them below. In addition, some of our
results and our own techniques of meta-analysis are discussed here.)

To follow the BSc Special Degree in Mathematics, one first required to follow the
Part I and II of the BSc General Degree, and then to follow advanced courses in
Mathematics for another two years. A summary of the gradings I obtained in the
first-two years ( Full details are given in the Annexure I).

 Research

My undergraduate research topics:

• Final year
My final year research project was on the behavior and applications of logistic
regression as a part of my degree. Here, I studied a several possible approaches
based on statistical regression (Survey study of the requirement of a teller
machine within the university premises for the public usage).
Logistic regression is part of a category of statistical models called
generalized linear models. This broad class of models includes ordinary
regression and ANOVA, as well as multivariate statistics such as ANCOVA and
loglinear regression. An excellent treatment of generalized linear models is
presented in Agresti (1996).

•Third year
In my thread year I did Project in Meta analysis in heath
science. In this project I collect data in British Medical journal report in October
edition. (Meta-analysis is a long established method of mathematically
summarizing research results. It is a developing field and we are improving our
techniques constantly. There are several comprehensive research websites that
review the details of meta-analysis and we report them below. In addition, some
of our results and our own techniques of meta-analysis are discussed here.)

•Second year
I did project in “Carden’s and Discarden’t method for solving differential
equation”. I used “Mathematica” software. I solved more applications.

•First year
I n my first year program I did project to “calculate volume in
oil limits in cylinders” by using C language. I took data in “Petroleum
cooperation-matara.” I calculated oil levels by using these data.

6
 Interests and Extra-Curricular Activities

participants competing for “His Royal Highness Sultan Azlan Shah Trophy”, “His
Excellency Governor of Penang Trophy”.

Every year over 374 local and foreign teams from clubs, institutions of
higher learning, schools, colleges and government departments will compete in
the three days tournament. Regular foreign teams will be from Thailand,
Singapore, Sri Lanka, India, England, and Brunei Darussalam.

• Participated 9th Sri Lanka University Games held in November 2007 as a
