[1]

THE SETTING
Industrial Revolution: Refers to the greatly increased output of machine-made goods that began in England in the middle 1700s .
Oh! I never knew that! Well now you know!

The Industrial Revolution began in the middle of 1700s in England. It spread from England to Continental Europe and North America.
[2]

THE PROBLEM
Before the industrial revolution, people had to wove textiles by hand. It was hard and tiring to do all the work by band, therefore industrial revolution was necessary!
Im so tired! I dont think I can do this anymore!

Me either!

Lets start a revolution!

[3]

THE GOAL
The citizens wanted equal rights and wanted to earn money.
WE WANT EQUAL RIGHTS! YES WE WANT EQUAL RIGHTS!

[4]

THE EVENTS
Many new inventions were created.
1733 : A machinist named John Kay made a shuttle that sped back and forth on wheels. This flying shuttle, a boat-shaped piece 1831 : Cyrus McCormicks reaper boosted American wheat production 1837 : Samuel F. B. Morse, a New England painter, first sent electrical signals over a telegraph. 1851 : I. M. Singer improved the sewing machine by inventing a foot treadle. 1876 : Scottish-born inventor Alexander Graham Bell patented the telephone.

[5]

THE ENDING
Industrial revolution made the lives of Europeans and North Americans easier. Although it helped a lot of people, it also made some people suffer. For example, factory workers lost their jobs since the machines can do the hard things they originally did.
Its good that industrial revolution helped a lot of people, but I feel bad for the factory workers! Me too :( Everyone should be able to earn money!

DEMOCRATIC REFORM

DEMOCRATIC REFORM
Lets read and find out!

[7]

THE SETTING
The wealthy middle class (Factory owners, bankers, and merchants) were the first ones to ask for a greater voice in politics. Starting in 1830, the protesters went around England asking for an extension of suffrage. Due to the protest, the Parliament was afraid and passed the Reform Bill in 1832. This led the middle class men to vote. I
I cant believe we cant vote.. Why cant we vote? Were not poor . dont get it either.. We should protest!!

[8]

THE PROBLEM
Before 1832, only 5% of the entire citizen was allowed to vote. People were obviously not happy about this. They wanted to vote for themselves! They decided to protest against the parliament so that they could be allowed to vote.
The 5% of people who could vote: The 95% of people who couldnt vote:

We are so cool! We can vote!

-.We want to vote too..

[9]

THE GOAL
Their goal was to achieve the right to vote. They wanted to have the freedom to vote for anyone they wanted to. It was frustrating for them to watch only 5% of the whole citizen vote while they have to only watch.
I WANT TO VOTE! WHY CANT WE VOTE? WE WANT TO VOTE! LISTEN TO US PARLIAMENT!!

[10]

THE EVENTS
Many citizens protested which made the Parliament nervous. They didnt want the protest to spread therefore they allowed the middle-class men to vote.

1830 : The citizens started to protest 1832 : British passed the Reform Bill. 1867 : Gave voting rights to working-men. Early 1900 : All the demands from the Chartists became law. (Except for the annual elections)
YAY we can vote now! Im so happy! Me too! i cant believe we can vote now!

[11]

THE ENDING
At the end, 74% of the population were able to vote. Woman over 30 were also able to vote!
Its amazing what the citizens can do! I mean before 1832, only 5% of the population were able to vote! Yeah its amazing. I cant believe almost every can vote now!
