VACANCY

Micronutrient Initiative (MI) Indonesia proposes to demonstrate pilots in selected districts for IFA supplementation for pregnant mothers in West Java and Banten provinces and ORS and zinc supplementation in the treatment of diarrhea among young children in West Nusa Tengara province. The program strategy will be on a) strengthening the supply chain for supplements b) capacity building of the health staff and frontline workers c) behaviour change communication interventions for increasing utilization d) modifying the monitoring system to monitor and track intervention delivery and supportive supervision e) building government commitment and sustainability through ensuring adequacy of budgets at the local level and directives to service providers to provide supplements in the recommended quantities and follow-up and f) program evaluation. These models will serve as a basis of replication and scale-up. In order to guide, supervise and coordinate these pilots with the Government and other stakeholders MI requires a following position:

Health Systems Coordinator


The main responsibility of the coordinator will be to facilitate and monitor the implementation of the IFA supplementation for pregnant women and ORS and zinc supplementation in childhood diarrhoea pilot projects on behalf of MI. The specific responsibilities include: 1. Capacity building Assist and support to build capacity of health system functionaries at central, provincial and district levels. Participate in district level reviews for facilitate problem solving and problem seeking. 2. Liaoning and Advocacy Work closely with the government and key stakeholders to get their attention on IFA supplementation program for pregnant women and ORS and zinc supplementation in childhood diarrhoea program, and be responsible for coordination and liaison with key players at national and regional levels (Governments, UNICEF, UN/NGOS, Universities and relevant tasks forces or committees, etc). Support the Government program through initiatives that may include, formation of a task force, policy formulation including development of specific guidelines, act as a resource person etc. for the IFA supplementation and ORS and zinc supplementation in childhood diarrhoea programs. Participate in the central/provincial government task force/informal working groups on the IFA supplementation and ORS and zinc supplementation in childhood diarrhoea programs. Facilitate and support the advocacy meetings/activities and organize technical or programmatic workshops at the district and provincial levels. 3. Support field Implementation Facilitate the district level extenders to work with the provincial and district level local governments (DoH). Provide technical support and guidance to district level extenders and supervise their work.

4. Monitoring and Reporting Support in the development of a monitoring system for performance of the consultancy (in consultation with Director). Monitor all components of IFA supplementation and ORS and zinc supplementation in childhood diarrhea program at the provincial and district levels and identify gaps and areas of support. Undertake field visits including village visits to guide field implementation. Consolidate, validate and analyze monitoring data and build capacity at the district and provincial levels to analyze and take corrective actions on the basis of the monitoring data. Compile and analyze monthly reports and share with MI Director. 5. Streamlining supply chain Liaise with the Director and Logistic and Supply Chain Management Project Officer in the Directorate of Nutrition and serve as a link between central, provincial and district levels. 6. Others Undertake travel to the selected districts, provinces and attend national level activities as required. Support other micronutrient programs in consultation with the Director MI.

Qualifications
Post graduate academic degree in medicine/nutrition/health sciences, health management, or related field; At least 5 years of working experience with government, INGOs, NGOs, donors and/or UN agencies; Good knowledge of policies and programs of government and donor agencies; Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work as a team member; Ability to work independently and innovatively; Excellent computer and communication skills (presentation and writing), with fluency in spoken and written English.
