You will be working on this project at home and school so be sure to bring your posterboards, laptops, iPhones, ipads, and any other supplies you may want with you to class. Supplies available to you at school include: Colored pencils Markers Glue Scissors Tape

Task: You will be creating a poster of weather & climate phenomena. Your target audience is a 4th or 6th grade classroom. Therefore, you must be conscious of your word choice and your ability to capture the students attention.

Task expectations: 1. Write your name, home school, and block on the back of your poster. 2. Entitle your poster 3. Divide your poster into quadrants. Each quadrant will be dedicated to one form of severe weather or instigator of short-term climate change. The four phenomena that you will examine are a. Tornadoes b. Hurricanes/typhoons/cyclones c. Monsoons d. El Nino 4. For each of the 4 phenomena you must a. Define the term(s) b. Explain what causes the phenomenon/how it works c. Illustrate the phenomenon through a HAND-DRAWN color diagram that depicts how the phenomenon develops/is created d. Provide a map to show where the phenomenon takes place (its spatial distribution) i. You must provide world maps for 1. Tornadoes 2. Hurricanes/typhoons/cyclones 3. El Nino ii. You may use a regional map for monsoons
