Problem Solving Definition Paper Secondary Data Tables

1. Problem Identification: Over time abortions have been one of those particular social issues that society has different perspectives on. However, the census has data tables that lays out general information needed to see where our country stands. The main focus of this table is the abortion numbers by race from 1990 to 2007. The problem in this table is to indentify the different rates of women from the ages of fifteen to forty four. One will be able to see how many abortions have been done over the time period by age and by ones race.

2. Problem Description: As mentioned before abortions is an issue that can been looked at in a negative or positive way depending on the individual and ones situation. The table gives me great information on the abortions by numbers and rates by race. The categories are All races, White, Black, and Other. I can indentify that in the early 1990s until it hit the 2000s percentages were at its peak then over time gradually decreased and increased in other races. In 1990 to about 1994 it is shown that the All races and in the Caucasian community of women they had the highest rate of abortions starting at 1,609 and a rate of 27.4 and on the other hand, the Caucasian women were at 1,039 the rate was 21.5 at that time. While the Black community had a number of 505 women but a rate of was at 63.9 per 1000 of a women. The Other category had as number of 65 but a rate of 25.1 over this time period. I am able to identify from 1995 to 2007 the All races , White , and Black community of women abortion rates were on a decreasing level while the Other race category was on a increasing movement in society. The topic of Abortion has a huge impact not only on the world but on African Americans and other races as well. This problem affects the survival and propagation of African Americans due to the fact that our race has been known to be one of the most known races for society to kill off. For example the slavery chapter of our people to African Americans not being able to have the same opportunities as others may have in this world. In order for our community to stay well known and remain alive our people must think twice before having abortions and take care of necessary responsibilities that are given at hand. African American must fight for what is right and live on and not die off. Abortion has been a problem that has

Problem Solving Definition Paper Secondary Data Tables been around for years, I believe in order to stop an issue like this one must stand up and command change from the world. Individuals can alleviate this issue by having safe sex

and by thinking of consequences before actions are done to help the world and to change societys perspective on women and on abortions.

3. Findings: All the tables that were found all are on how many women from all ages have gotten abortions over the time period if 1990 to 2007 by ones state and by the age groups. The tables are able to indentify the womens race and any personal characteristics that are related to this issue.

A. Magnitude: This social issue is beyond severe in this country abortions are begin done everyday in the United States and even in other countries either the illegal way or the legal way of going to a professional doctor to help this situation. The issue affects the whole society as one; we as people are supposed to live and reproduce new seeds not kill them off. Every time a women has an abortion that is another statistic being made at that present time. An abortion is an expensive procedure that is not only a hassle on the individuals pockets but on the worlds. Money is being spent day in and out on this particular issue. The table explains that on a health care level the restricted conventional had the highest rate of money being spent and secondly was the restricted recommended. The third one is the liberal conventional and the fourth one and less spent money on abortions is the liberal recommended category.

B. Scope: Individuals are known to receive abortions everywhere no matter the state or region. This problem has a huge widespread through a few states in the United States. All 50 states are seen on the table with its number and rates of people over time. Over time from 2000 to 2008 the numbers and rates where at a high level. It is seen that in larger states like California, New York, and Florida that the abortion rates are higher than any other states shown on the table. The reason it is a possibility that it is this way is due to

Problem Solving Definition Paper Secondary Data Tables the fact that these states have a higher population of people and resources. These states are more affected than other because more money is being spent towards this issue when money can be spent to improve children educational programs or even help build new building or organizations in these states.

C. Changes: In the table on the abortions by numbers and race it is a prime example of change with this social issue. It is shown that in the All Races, White, and Black category of women of the ages of fifteen to forty-four the abortions rates were decreasing in the time period of 1997 to 2007. It can be said that more women were becoming more responsible of their situations and began to do what was right for society. This is a positive aspect in life and one is able to see the change over time and what was being done.

D. Disparities: Society is usually broken down to where each race has their own rates and numbers of social issues among that particular issue. The table on abortions by selected characteristics shows the differences between the problem at hand and it is broken down by ones age, martial status, and race. It is shown that more abortions were given to women in the twenty to twenty four age categories, while women of the age of forty and older had lower percentages. As it may be expected women that are unmarried have a higher rate of abortions in this table than married women due to different situations that are in ones life. About 800 more unmarried women have abortions more frequently than an average married women. The non- Hispanic group of women have more aborts being done than the Hispanic group of individuals that are shown here on this graph.
