Dogs have their day: No chaining law to go into effect in Kyle

by JENNIFER BIUNDO Dogs can no longer spend their days outside on the end of a chain, Kyle council members ruled Tuesday night. In a 4-3 split, council members voted to ban the practice of tethering a dog outside. The new law would also prohibit pulley tethers, such as those attached to a clothesline, that allow dogs more room to run. Under the ordinance, dogs kept in outdoor pens must have 150 square feet per adult animal. Violations would be a class C misdemeanor, with exceptions only for a lawful animal event, veterinary treatment, grooming, training or law enforcement activity. Read more at the Hays Free Press: http://haysfreepress.com/archives/18647#ixzz1L6pN2l5w As a reminder the City of Kyle requires the removal any feces deposits while walking dogs. It also states that while in or on any City of Kyle Parks, Trails or Open Spaces, you must carry a device to remove any deposits. "The Deed Restrictions for the Post Oak One Homeowners Association, Inc. specifies that all improvements as defined in the Deed Restrictions must be approved in writing by the Architectural Control Committee before the improvement begins." The Architectural Control Committee Approval Request Form, ACC Form, can be found on our facebook group page as well as on the RealManage site. Check out our group on Facebook! Neighborhood Watch volunteers aren't just "that resident down the street" who drives by every once in awhile, they're an intricate part of our subdivision. Our volunteers observe unfamiliar individuals or vehicles normally not seen in the subdivision, report missing stop and street signs, report burned out street lights or a broken water pipe at the pool, graffiti on fences, sidewalks or mail boxes. With the ever present possibility of a grass fire starting in the undeveloped land to the south due to the drought and high winds, a Neighborhood Watch Volunteer could make the difference in seeing and reporting it before major damage could be done.True, you don't have to belong to the program to do any of these things mentioned...but, Non-resident seeing our posted Neighborhood Watch signs have no idea of how many volunteers we do have; and that is what makes the difference. For more information contact, Margaret Soma, Neighborhood Watch Chair, neighborhoodwatchreps@yahoo.com or @ 504.9965.

Margaret has also been working diligently to start an outreach program for neighbors in need with the Neighborhood Watch Outreach Program. Volunteers can pickup a gallon of milk or medicines for a neighbor, change a light bulb or sew a button on a shirt. Have a skill that could help someone out? Volunteers can be anonymous until services are needed, email Margaret at neighborhoodwatchreps@yahoo.com.
