Usually, we will get aknowledge about emotional intelligence if we are in organization, not in academic. In academic, we will get aknowledge about intelligence quotient (IQ). This is so unique and interesting, in academic especially English subject explains emotional intelligence. So, I will get information about intelligence quotiont and emotional intelligent at the same time from academic by this interesting article. 4. Explain briefly in four or five sentences what the article is about! The Marshmallow Challenge is a fascinating Impulse Control Test which is made by Daniel Goleman, that proving emotional stability is more than IQ in determining an individuals success in life. In this experiment, four-year-old children were individually called into a room at Stanfor University during the 1960s. There, a kind man gave a marshmallow to each of them and said they could eat the marshmallow right away, or wait for him to come back from an errand, at which point they would get two marshmallows. What is surprising about this test, it is diagnosis power. The ones who had resisted eating the marshmallow were clearly more socially competent than the others. They embraced challenges and persued them instead of giving up, even in the face of difficulties, they were self-reliant and confident, trustworthy and dependable. 5. What is the writers message or purpose in writing this article? The writers objective wrote this article is to inform the readers with The Marshmallow Challenge Test that proving emotional stability is more than IQ in determining an individuals success in life. Beside that, children today are

more vulnurable than ever to anger, depresion, anxiety a massive emotional malaise. 6. Give your personal comment on the article as a conclusion of your article review! The Emotional Competencies (Goleman) model The EI model introduced by Daniel Goleman focuses on EI as a wide array of competencies and skills that drive leadership performance. Goleman's model outlines four main EI constructs: 1. 2. 3. 4. Self-awareness the ability to read one's emotions and recognize their impact while using gut feelings to guide decisions. Self-management involves controlling one's emotions and impulses and adapting to changing circumstances. Social awareness the ability to sense, understand, and react to others' emotions while comprehending social networks. Relationship management the ability to inspire, influence, and develop others while managing conflict. Goleman includes a set of emotional competencies within each construct of EI. Emotional competencies are not innate talents, but rather learned capabilities that must be worked on and developed to achieve outstanding performance. Goleman posits that individuals are born with a general emotional intelligence that determines their potential for learning emotional competencies. Goleman's model of EI has been criticized in the research literature as mere poppsychology.
