INTRODUCTION

My task is in no way a small endeavor, although there have been many great
philosophers and adepts of all sacred religions which have paved the way. And what is
this way? It is the Great Work, so called by the ancient mystics. The attainment of
superhuman capabilities and miracles, so called by the vulgar because they do not
understand the causes of these effects. We shall reveal such things out of necessity for our
cause. For the secret of everything exists spiritually and materially. In absolute reality,
spirit and matter are one homogeneous substance. There is only a difference in density or
rate of vibration between the two. Vibration is creation. This is the Word of the
Christians, and the Logos of the Greek philosophers. This is the power indeed, which the
theurgists make use of in the name of Tetragrammaton. In the most sublime way, we all
create by use of our words, and to a greater degree, our actions, but preceding both are
thoughts. If our actions are out of place with our words, then we can never be in the
correct equilibrium. As any occultist knows, equilibrium and universal harmony are the
keys to higher platforms. Revelation is always concealed to those who are not yet
prepared by elemental degrees. Thus, the truth of allegory can only be understood to one
who is truly initiated.
The great Mystery Schools have all but disappeared with the exception of a
handful of secrete societies, which are virtually inaccessible to the average person. How
then, may we find the same path toward enlightenment and a true understanding of this
light? I say, with a proper understanding of the mystical Qabalah. With such knowledge,
one may accomplish initiation into the most profound mysteries. The Hebrew alphabet is
a map toward personal development, when seen as a system of paths that connect us to
the various realms of manifested light. These realms of various qualities are the Sephiroth
on the Qabalistic Tree of Life. One who climbs this tree may find the way toward
illumination and realization of their own omnipotence. For each branch brings one closer
to the Great Architect of the universe. To be one with God is to be God. God exists within
us all, and we all exist within the body of God. There is nothing that we cannot achieve
by means of directing our will, so long as our will is in harmony with the all.
I write this book to answer some great questions. I shall open the vaults of
antiquity and bear not the pharos curse. I will expound universal law and its practical
methods. We shall explore the sanctuaries of mystery together. I shall be your hermit
upon the dark road that lies ahead. Let my light show the way for those who dare follow.
I make no claim to be an adept, so it not on my petty words alone that we shall tread. We
follow the sages, philosophers, and prophets of the past. Great men like Zarathustra,
Pythagoras, Plotinus, Iamblichus, Plato, Aristotle, Apollonius of Tyana, Albertus Magnus,
Thoth Hermes Trismegistus, Simeon Ben Yohai, Jesus Christ, Moses, Orpheus, and
Paracelsus the Great, to name but a few. We will look beyond language into the realm of
numbers. Numbers are infinite and supreme. They transcend the words to represent ideas
and qualities. They help us to understand creation of the seen and unseen universe. The
ten Tetractys of the Pythagoreans are philosophically the same as the ten Sephiroth on the
Tree of Life and also the caduceus of Hermes. We shall find truth hidden within the
symbols of antiquity. The initiated know that arcane axioms and entire philosophical
dogmas may be sealed from the profane masses within the appropriate symbols. All
religions have their exoteric scriptures of doctrine. We shall expound these allegories to
find their true meanings in their esoteric sense. The exoteric is the “milk” that the disciple
Paul gave to the masses, but he saved the esoteric “meat” for the “strong” that proved
themselves worthy by the trials of initiation. The same may be said for all of the world
religions. I will be dealing primarily with the western traditions because they will be
more familiar to most readers. Alice Bailey tells us that religion is not the only source of
the Ageless Wisdom. Freemasonry and Occult Philosophy are the other channels that
contain the ancient mysteries. So then, let us dine upon this “meat” together until we have
our full.
We shall show the reality of the one supreme religion upon which all others are
based, by using the laws of analogy. I speak of the ancient Wisdom religion of the Magi
and the secret doctrine of Judaism and its most modern version, esoteric Christianity. This
Ageless Wisdom is universally found in all religion and philosophies. More precisely, all
religion and philosophy is found in the Ageless Wisdom.
This book is for those who see beauty in symmetry. One can only marvel at the
various methods available for piecing the veil of Isis. They are all interconnected. We
shall explore these methods of divination. I will show you how astrology, geometry, the
Qabalah, tarot cards, Hermetic arts, secret fraternities, and all occult methods are
connected. Let us explore the mysteries of number together. There are no acts that can be
hidden to an adept who is capable of seeing its reflection in the upper regions of astral
light known as the Akashic Records. I shall reveal the mysteries of the Astral Plane. Its
reality may be experienced by anyone who has learned how. It is in this light that we may
again establish the secret rites and initiations of the ancient Mystery Schools.
It is within the birth rites of mankind to exercise his will over his surroundings. To
man was given the dominion over the whole Earth. We share our field of evolution with
the Earth and her other kingdoms. We are all evolving together and by virtue of this, so
also is our Creator. The laws of evolution will exalt all men to Godhead in its due time,
but there are ways of speeding up the process. This is the goal of occult fraternities and
ascetics of all ages. If it is within our power to become gods and escape the bonds of
reincarnation, than why should we not try to achieve this goal? Many have, but only a
few have succeeded. They are our examples to follow. There are many paths toward
illumination. This is what the three Magi illustrated when they left the infant messiah’s
crib on a different road from that which they came.
The mysteries of existence divulge themselves in great cycles. Thus we find
Osiris reborn in Christ. The universe provides world teachers when we need them most.
The greatest of these, give themselves up for the salvation of others. They create the
cycles anew, but always moving forward till the final Day of Judgment. Humanity can
resurrect as more perfect than the angelic beings. But until that great day, let us do our
best to reach our full potential. May we stand proud before the terrible Sphinx and say “I
Am”. If the beast does not destroy us, than let us ride upon its back into the Palace of
Wisdom. This Sphinx is the Astral Light. The serpent of Genesis. Our tempter and
redeemer, as Blavatsky would say. All this and more shall we uncover hidden in the
symbolic tomb of Christian Rosenkreutz. We climb Mt. Abiegnus, only to find an empty
sarcophagus because the Master has once again taken his place among humanity. But, if
you look closer, see that all is not in vain. Wrestle the secret hieroglyphs from the grasp
of a cold hand. Translate these for the keys to unlock the doors to our first divine
languages. Let us meditate upon the hidden meanings that speak to our most inner mind.
The Tarot is much more than just a game to be played at tea parties of the curious.
These primitive hieroglyphs of the Book of Thoth are the sum total of knowledge of the
ancient adapts, most carefully preserved from the eyes of the vulgar. But why should this
knowledge be withdrawn from the masses? I shall explain why. It was said by the Great
Initiator (Christ), not to cast pearls before swine. The power of the occult can and has
been abused in the past. These are the fatal acts that degraded the holy light into mere
sorcery and brought the deluge unto Atlantis. It is likely that Hitler used magnetism to
subdue the crowd to his vile cause. He used the ancient symbol of the fylfot cross to
further his twisted will. Even to this day, many have forgotten this holy symbol’s original
meaning and only attach it to the Nazi party. It is the same as the cross of redemption,
ever moving in cycles of progression. He, who is imprudent in the occult arts, surely
invites himself to a Hell of his own creation. The revelations of magic are kept from the
general public for their own good. Make no mistake; the allegories of scripture are
indeed, at their root, magical axioms.
Control over elemental spirits and directing the Astral for selfish motives is the
epitome of Satanism. Satan is no more than selfishness. Evil is purely a human invention.
For what evil occurs in nature? It is not the serpent that should be feared, but our own
desires to subdue him. If we cannot, than it truly controls us until madness ensues. The
tempter of Eve is not evil, but humanity is. The occult forces are truly blind. They bend to
the will of the operator who directs them to whatever end he so chooses. Our will must be
directed to the benefit of our fellows. I do not pretend that fiends, demons, and malicious
invisible specters do not exist, for they most assuredly do. They exist out of necessity for
proper balance to be maintained between their opposites. They are quick to do evil, but
must be compelled to do good. God is absolute reason. So, who are we to question
reason? Directing the Astral Light is part of our divine birth rites. So is directing the
infernal spirits to do our bidding, so as long as our will does not disturb the freewill of
others or make offence to God. The Laws of God are served in Heaven and Hell. Demons
tremble before the very name of YHVH. To play with the occult arts for amusement or
curiosity is to invite insanity and obsession. The results can be truly disastrous. This is the
most popular reason for demonic possession. But all demons may be expelled by the
proper holy names. Christ said that his name alone could drive out the demons of the
possessed. We shall observe the holy words which the theurgist makes use of. Black
magic seeks to usurp nature but the magic of the light seeks only to aid and exalt her. It is
a common occult axiom that “nature unaided fails”. Let us then seek the light of the Sun.
The Moon generates no light of its own; it only reflects that of the Sun. To believe in the
reflection instead of its source is to believe in illusions, hence the term lunatic. Thus,
black magic exalts itself in falsehood. We seek the truth, above all else. The lever of
Archimedes can pry open the invisible realms. Most will wander in darkness and the
gates of understanding will be forever shut for the undeserving. Those who posses this
lever must learn how to use it properly.
Material existence is but a blink in the eye of Saturn. Saturn is time, which is
always devouring the material and shitting out the spiritual. The Life Impulse travels in
cycles from spirit into matter and matter back into spirit. Ever moving forward and higher
in its vibration, the serpent seeks to swallow its tail for eternity. New worlds are made
from the remnants of exploded stars. This Life Impulse is what has been termed God by
all religions. The First Cause is born of itself. It is the trinity of life, light, and motion. To
place a form upon such abstractions is absurd. It is the essence of all forms, without
limitation. We find its harmonies in the diatonic scale, the motions of the planetary
bodies, called the music of the spheres. This is not a mere phrase of the Pythagorean
school. There is an actual sound that resonates from the motion of the planetary spheres,
although it is only audible to the trained clairvoyant. The geometrical patters of nature are
clear signs of intelligent design.
Science pushes new frontiers but it still fails to prove the existence of the soul.
Thoughts are not the property of the brain, but of the soul. I believe that one-day science
and religion will merge as one. They are inevitably drawn toward one another and the gap
becomes less wide every day. Quantum physics will rediscover magical axioms. The
magnetic field theories of Tesla tread upon the ground of occult science. Researches into
this field could discover the secret of perpetual motion. Science seems to have given up
its chimera of the ether. If Wilhelm Reich’s discovery of orgone energy was not to be
taken seriously, than why did the F.D.A. shut him down? He built machines in order to
channel the life force called Chi and what the Hawaiian Kahunas call mana. This is the
same force hands-on healers employ. It exists independently from matter and yet
pervades all matter. It manifests heat and invisible light, for it is a living fire. Certain
places, objects, foods, and drugs contain this force to a greater degree than others. This is
the primeval force commonly personified by the vulgar as God. We make God into our
own image. This is not a totally false idea, however because we are the receptacles of this
vibration. I say vibration because that is what it all boils down to.
Vibrations form atoms and molecules. When we build better microscopes to see
these vibrations, we shall have our proof beyond any doubt. Therefore, vibrations may be
said to be the basis of matter and also spirit, at its higher rates. This discovery will herald
a new paradigm and the coming of the perfected superman. Mankind shall begin to
realize the enormous power of the mind. The mind governed by a strong will has the
power to change circumstance and even matter itself. This fact has been demonstrated
properly by the experiments performed on water molecules by Dr. Masaru Emoto. He
photographed pictures of water molecules using a dark field microscope after the various
samples had been exposed to the influence of positive and negative messages. The results
were that the negative suggestions produced ugly and disfigured shapes and the positive
ones produced beautiful geometric patterns. The ramifications of these transformations
are not new revelations. Priests of all faiths do the same when they bless water. They are
channeling the life forces, previously mentioned, from the heavenly realms into the
material and spiritual water. Yes, the elements of fire, water, air, and earth are not just
material, but they also have a spiritual side. This is the secret of alchemical
transformation. Christ pronounces to Nicodemus, “Except a man be born of water and of
the Spirit, he cannot enter the kingdom of God.” It is the spirit of water that is the most
receptive to thought.
The holy name of Jahovah (YHVH), or Tetragrammaton, is in one sense the
combined souls of the four elements in their most exalted state. The Yod is the male
creative principle referable to fire. This is what is known as the Living or Cosmic Fire,
the first born of the elements. Heh is the feminine principle that fructifies the Yod to give
birth to the son and is referable to water. Vav is the son of yod and heh and is referable to
air, just as water combined with fire creates steam. The final Hey is the synthesis of the
other letters and displays similar qualities to the first Heh, only more material, and
represents earth. The letter Shin in Hebrew is a representation of the Holy Ghost. This is
the spirit, which is similar to the Jewish concept of Shechinah. When we place the letter
Shin in the middle of Tetragrammaton, we obtain the Pentagrammaton, which is referred
to the name Yeheshua (YHSVH). Now this word shows us that the Holy Spirit holds
dominion over the four elements. Yeheshua is also the Hebrew name for Jesus.
Pentagrammaton is thus a state of elemental equilibrium that can control the elements,
after one has properly invoked their higher self or holy guardian angel. These are the
fruits of the initiate who attains the grade of Adeptus Minor in the sphere of Tiphareth on
the Tree of Life. Tiphareth is Hebrew for harmony or beauty. It is said to be the seat of
the holy guardian angel. One may achieve this goal without the aid of a magical society
by following the instructions of Abraham the Jew as set down in MacGregor Mathers’
translation of The Book of the Sacred Magic of Abramelin the Mage. Great power is
represented by the magical symbol of the pentagram. Every occultist knows of its
multiple use in rituals. The pentagram holds power over the spirits we evoke. It causes an
increase of virtue in good spirits and evil ones to flee in terror. It is the primary symbol of
banishing or exorcizing. The statement made by Christ when he said his name could cast
out devils affirms this. Now you see how the Qabalist may find entire doctrines contained
within words, letters, and symbols.
I will do my best to explain the creation of the world and of man. Furthermore, I
shall expose the unseen realms existing around us and beyond. Quite an overwhelming
task, to say the least, but one I feel compelled to fulfill. These answers offer purpose to
our lives and aspirations of improvement, verily. Readers beware, for I will wave the
Hermetic staff for all to see, but try not to get bitten by one of its serpents. I’m not trying
to alter your beliefs, but add more understanding and dept to them. My theories are not
the invention of my imagination, but those based on the wise initiates of the past and the
clues they have left behind. For example, we turn to Plato as our source for the reality of
Atlantis. Plato learned about Atlantis as a child by Critias who in tern knew the story
from Solon, who was one of the Seven Sages of Greece. Solon had gained this
knowledge from an Egyptian priest approximately 9,000 years after the deluge. This
flood is a periodical event of destruction upon the earth, which may be predicted by
cycles of astrology. All this has been preserved allegorically by the hymns of Orpheus
and even in the Old and New Testaments. So then, the Earth has seen cycles of
enlightenment, of destruction, of rebirth, and of darkness. The stars predict times
conducive to spiritual awareness and times of material progress. Everything arriving in its
due course, seasonally, according to the perfect motion of the planets around the sun and
the distribution of the forces of God through his twelve governors of the zodiac as the
solar system moves through the endless realms of space. The mysteries of our solar
system are quite baffling enough for most people to comprehend. Let them constitute the
limit of the knowledge presented within this work, for the greater mysteries of the Central
Sun would be utterly incomprehensible to those who have not been initiated into the
Lodge of Sirius.
At this time, we are currently reaching the close of a material cycle and reaching
the beginning of a spiritual one. We have reached the most solidified state of matter and
are now beginning upon the upward arc of evolution back into the realms of spirit. May
the glorious light of God shine upon us in the coming of a new dawn. Shall we bring to a
close this materialistic age of fast food? What can we hope for in this new age? It’s Allah-
Vs.-Christ in the Roman coliseum, but all the seats are empty because everyone’s at home
watching it live on pay per view. We all need something new. The time is now. Viva la
revolution!

FORWARD

“In The beginning” or Berashith, what better place to start. The reader would do
well to consider that one of the definitions we apply to God is like that of the circle. The
circle has no beginning or end, but is infinite. Following such logic, how can there ever
be a beginning, so called? What the scriptures mean is merely the beginning of a new
cycle of activity in relation to our particular Life Wave. The sleeping God had awakened.
Verily, there are cycles of activity and of rest. One period of activity is called a day of
Brahma, or manifestation, and one period of rest is a night of Brahma. One cycle of
activity, or day of Brahma, from beginning to end is called a Manvantara or Manu by the
eastern adepts. God spoke the Word to set creation in motion. When the first tribes of
men began to form languages under the direction of his ministering angels, they were
asked to name all things brought before them. Thus man had named all the things they
saw, but they could not see the Creator. Nevertheless, these primitive tribes had used the
circle with an equilateral cross inside it intersecting at 90 degrees. This was the first
hieroglyph representing God and a most fitting one indeed. Its’ meaning implies all the
various attributes of the Tetragram operating throughout infinity. The first line was drawn
from east to west and represents the path of light from the sun. The next line was drawn
from south to north as a way to show the upward progress of all life. He called the circle
O. Next; he called the first line E in imitation of the sound of the wind traveling through
the leaves. Finally, he called the second line IH to represent the unseen shaft that cuts
trough all things. Thus we have the word E-O-IH or more as it more commonly known,
Jehovah. And this was a secret name unlawful to pronounce out loud. It was
communicated only to the seers and rabbins of the ancient world. When someone wanted
to communicate this term, another substituted it, such as God or Adonai. Why then was
this name not to be spoken out loud? It is said by a wise Qabalists that every time
someone speaks the name of Jehovah, the spheres of celestial realms are shaken up. This
name, properly vibrated, reaches to the far ends of the universe and disturbs the very
kingdom of heaven. It draws the light of God into man and gives him a glimpse of
divinity. The correct vibration of holy names constitutes the foundation of theurgy and
practical Qabalah. We shall elaborate upon this topic in chapter four of this volume.
Throughout this work, I shall convey many unique terms of various origins in an
attempt to replicate the most common nomenclature of Western occultism. Fear not, for
they will all be explained in regards to the novice in these areas, but the more advanced
student should have no trouble what so ever. I now wish to give the reader an important
distinction to be aware of throughout this work. When the term God is referred to in the
following chapters, I am referring to the one creator or universal architect. When the term
is plural, then I refer to the various aspects, qualities, or powers of the One that have been
personified as lesser Gods. In other words, the Gods are many but the Creator is one.
Many other gods who have ruled over the heavens of the Earth were at one time mortal
beings from the earth or some other distant corporeal world. Understand also that all the
former prophets were not the creator, but a channel for his light. In like manner are the
gods of heaven a channel that acts as a mediator between the creator and mortals. All this
follows a system of hierarchy that has been well documented by all religions. There are
many names used by various coulters to represent God the Creator. Most have great
philosophical meanings to them, but others are applied to false deities (spirit imposters of
former gods). I will refer to Gods’ various aspects under the divers names in as many
forms as possible for the sake of clarity for people of all faiths in their due course. The
true identity of Jehovah will also come to light. Although he shared in the creation of our
galaxy and is worthy of all the reverence man can give, he is not the highest all pervading
deity.
We will refer to the creation of the Universe by using the analogies of numbers,
letters, symbols, and philosophical math. Also, we will unveil the advent of mankind and
its relation to the Creator. For this relationship to be properly understood, it must be
viewed from the perspective of Universal Laws. For this is the foundation of God’s
material and ethereal kingdoms. This is what makes worlds go ‘round, literally. These
have always been established and creation depends upon them even during the periods of
rest. At this very moment, solar systems are disintegrating and others are being formed
from their remains. This fact is now commonly asserted by modern science in the
Nebular Theory. Such are the cycles of cosmic dissolution and activity. We sail upon a
vast sea of knowledge to map its globe. For all things to be understood we must combine
our knowledge of the Decad of the Pythagoreans or the Ten Holy Sephiroths of the
Hebrews with the twelve Zodiac signs and the seven planets of the ancients. The point
may be illustrated with philosophic addition as such: 7 + 12 = 19 = 1 + 9 = 10 = 1 + 0 = 1
Thus showing that all the various manifestations and powers of God are essentially one in
unity.
The universal laws of existence have been expounded by Hermetic philosophy
among others. In no particular order, they are The Law of Mentalism, The Law of
Polarity, The Law of Vibration (or Attraction), The Law of Karma, The Law of Rhythm,
The Law of Micros/Macros, and The Law of Correspondence. All active manifestation in
the universe is based upon these laws.
The Law of Mentalism states that thoughts precede action. All forms existed prior
to manifest creation in the mind of the Creator. These forms are what are known as
archetypes. It has been said that every thought of any form exists somewhere in the
universe, whether material or spiritual, otherwise one would not be able to conceive it in
the mind. This may seem absurd at first, but not for the occultist. Nevertheless, we all
think before we act. Furthermore, the majority of the public is completely unaware of the
powers of their own thoughts. It is your thoughts that draw all experience into your field
of consciousness. These thoughts actually create forms on the astral plane. To the
clairvoyant they appear as cloudy like phantoms surrounding their maker. These thought
forms are sent out from the mind toward the object or person in mind and if they do not
get absorbed by them, than they return to their source until they dissipate back into the
aura of the thinker from which they came. This is how people can literally get stuck in a
cloud of their own negativity. On the other hand, the occultist uses this technique to get
what they wish to bring into their reality. These methods are in fact, the correct way to
have your prayers answered. One spends a small amount of time each day to visualize the
object of their desire, as if it already exists in their life. The more accurate and vivid the
scene becomes, the quicker it tends to manifest. Any aspirant of the higher spiritual life
must first gain control of his own mind if he is to make any real progress. Some actions
of the body may seem to be automatic but the thought lies within the subconscious mind.
In lower forms of life, we call this instinct. This instinct is the thoughts of our creator
exerting itself into the kingdoms of nature acting through an established hierarchy of
beings. Only in man do we find the free will to as he so chooses, whether good or evil.
When one goes into a hypnotic state they are delving into their subconscious that can act
as a bridge to what psychologists call the super conscious. This is one of the methods
used by Edgar Casey when he prophesized. What takes place in the super conscious state
is access to the divine mind of God. Herein lies all knowledge as an open book to the seer
who has trained properly to this effect.
The Law of Micros/Macros states that what is below is like that which is above
and that which is above is like that which is below. This is the first triple affirmation in
the emerald tablet of Hermes Trismegistus. Above the entrance to the ancient temples of
initiation was inscribed Know Thy Self. This is because man is verily, a microcosm of the
universe. In the words of MacGregor Mathers, man is the “Magical Mirror of the
Universe”. Within man’s sphere of sensation are reflected all the forces of the Universe
which are convex to the outer and concave to us. When we give the various divisions of
man’s spiritual constitution, we see that they are also the same as the divine model, from
atom to universe. Another example of this law is that of the D.N.A. strand resembling the
spiral motion of our galaxy. We find that the Tree of Life, which is a representation of all
manifestation, exists within the sphere of man. And just as the different Sephiroths have a
correspondence to different planetary bodies of influence, so also are these in man’s
physical body. For example, I will use the apertures of the head. Saturn rules the right ear,
the left ear is under Jupiter, right eye is the Sun, the left eye is the Moon, the mouth is
Mercury, right nostril is Mars, and the left nostril is Venus. Israel Regardie gives us an
example of an occult diagnosis based on such astrological correspondences in man. One
who is troubled with chronic inflammation of the kidneys may track its root to the
psychic level of origin. We see that Venus rules over our kidneys, so we look to her
attributes, which are love, feeling, and emotion. Therefore conflicts in these areas are the
underlying cause of the affliction. In like manner, all maladies can be diagnosed and
shown to originate in the mind (see Law of Mentalism). In chapter five I will give all
such references to the body of man and their Sephirotic and planetary rulers.
The Law of Correspondence illustrates the interconnectedness of all created
things. It shows the natural procession of numbers emanating from unity in all directions
(positive or negative). In nature we see this as well as in the human and divine orders.
The Creator is the source from which all life sprang forth and will eventually return. He
is knowledge, knowing, and the thing known. All forms contained in his mind exist as
perfect prototypes. The perfection of these beings is in direct proportion to their
separation from the source of their creation. The ancient rabbis have inexhaustibly
compiled these various angelic and demonic hierarchies. We will treat of these in their
due space. One of the most practical applications of the Tree of Life illustrates this law. It
gives the correspondences of what planetary bodies are connected to what plants,
minerals, God names, body parts, smells, tastes, symbols, etc. Every thing that exists may
be traced back to their source in this manner. This law also explains how seemingly
unimportant events can steamroll into great changes. The effects of various causes work
their way, by means of Karma, throughout every kingdom of the Father from the micros
to the macros and vise versa.
The Law of Vibration states that things of like character are drawn to one another.
Opposites do not attract, they repel. The properties of this law may be demonstrated in
several different ways. For example, a vibration proceeding from a source attunes other
forms to its own within its proximity. A singer flicks a glass, and then listens for the tone
this produces and attunes his voice to the same rate of vibration. When he releases this
note, the result is the shattering of the glass. If this force may be used to destroy, than it is
logical that it may also be used to heal. This law constitutes the power in the Barbaric
Names of Evocation. Barbaric, so called, because the Greeks considered all other cultures
existing prior to, or outside of their own, as barbaric. The technique of reciting holy
names is one of vibration that tunes the soul to its creative keynotes. When reciting these
names, one must apply the proper method of intoning for the correct vibration. This law
serves as the basis of practical Qabalah. People of like mind coming together demonstrate
the law of vibration. It is not our differences that constitute friendship, but our
similarities. Pythagoras defined a friend as “another I”. Invariably, the more similar your
friends are to you, the better your friendship is. The same holds true on every plane.
The Law of Polarity states that everything has an opposite quality to its nature. In
the mind of man, we cannot escape these opposites. No one can ever realize love without
hate, good without evil, strong without weak, etc. Every emotion we can feel has its
parallel opposite. We cannot conceive of one without the other. This is because our minds
need comparison as a basis for experience. They key to perfection lies in maintaining
proper balance between the parallel forces of our constitution, hence the term “magical
equilibrium”. This is the key to the symbolism of the two pillars at the entrance to King
Soloman’s temple. They are Jachin on the right symbolized by a white masculine pillar of
light and Boaz on the left, which is the feminine black pillar of darkness. It is the same on
the Tree of Life. The Initiate of the Mysteries stood at the entrance to the lodge between
these two pillars to represent the equilibrium that awaits him inside. One method of such
psychological equilibrium is found in the “Middle Pillar” ritual of the Qabalist. The result
is a blending of the waking consciousness and the sub consciousness that allows one to
deal with life in a way that is free from internal conflicts that can result in various
afflictions, mental and physical. In a more mystical sense, it opens one up to the cosmic
rays of life energy emanating from God. This is the force Dr. Freud terms libido. Tantric
rites use meditation exercises to transform the libido or kundalini into mental energy by
means of sending it up the spine through the charkas points. This practice may become
dangerous if the student has not yet removed any psychic blocks that may be
encountered. The sex force will try to burn its way through these blocks and this can
cause the student a great deal of mental and physical pain. For this reason, the Middle
Pillar ritual is recommended because the Sephiroths of the body cannot draw down any
more light than the aspirant is capable of handling.
The Law of Karma is simply the law of cause and effect. In its metaphysical
aspects, this law operates on all objective and even subjective planes of the soul and
spirit. The body is the vehicle of the spirit, which is the vehicle of the soul. It is in
reference to Karma that determines the amount of time spent in the subjective heavens
after physical death. In fact, because of Karma we create our own heaven or hell based on
our deeds. Although Karma is a force, it has been personified by various religions. It is
Maat of the Egyptians, the Greek Nemesis, and numerous others. Karma is the supreme
justice of our own actions. The results are in proportion to the cause and thus virtue takes
on a much more exalted position. It is not God who seeks to punish us for our sins, for
hell is but the result of the Karma that we are in fact responsible for enacting.
The Law of Rhythm tells us that the creative life forces are cyclical. This is the
harmony that issued fourth out of the depths of chaos. Propelled infinitely onward by
Karmic law from higher rates of vibration to lower rates and from the lower back to the
higher. Spirit falls into the material and the material evolves back into the spirit, so on
and so forth. This is the esoteric doctrine of the serpent swallowing its own tail. The
hammer of Thor also shows the same symbolism. Thrust into motion and activity by the
Norse god it becomes the fylfot cross or swastika. Man is forever disposed to activity and
progress. He will not stay still even if this suffers him go backwards in development. This
law is shown by nature in the patterns of pinecones and pineapples, all of which have
Fibonacci combinations in their numerical designs that look like two intersecting spirals
each moving in opposite directions. When the life force impulse is set in motion it
resembles a vortex and may even be properly so called. The large vortices form solar
systems. Each planetary body has vortex currents and the planets all fall within the vortex
of the Sun. The motion of vortexes coagulates the various substances of matter in their
undifferentiated states causing a spherical shape of formation. There is an occult claim
that these vortices of various sizes are the nominal causes of the phenomenal effects of
electricity, magnetism, heat, and light manifested by the different conditions in the
currents. Also, historical periods are cyclic in nature, bound to reappear according to its
duration. Knowledge of the various durations of these cycles and sub-cycles is the key to
prophecy. For example, the astronomers of ancient times, who were also sages, took
notes of the stars and planets position in the sky when whatever particular event occurred.
From these observations, they were able to accurately determine when a similar event
would take place upon the return of the celestial spheres to the same degree in the zodiac
calendar. The ancients realized that there are periods of material knowledge and times of
spiritual knowledge. Cycles of darkness and of light, of war and of peace. Global
paradigms have shifted several times just in relation to the position of the Earth and even
its shape. The Egyptian and Chaldean astronomers of antiquity as well as some Greek
philosophers, like Aristotle, all had knowledge of the Earth orbiting the Sun as well as it
rotating on an axis as a spherical object. Yet all this knowledge was forgotten in far later
ages like that of Columbus’ when the general perception was the flatness of the Earth.
And yet, science revealed the truth again to mankind despite the anger and opposition of
the Roman Catholic Church body. Knowledge expands and contracts with perpetual
advancement on the ascending scale. And so it is with all things from involution to
evolution, from Genesis to epigenesis. Epigenesis being a factor of the spiral motion that
constantly brings innovation to each wave of the evolving life force.
These laws all operate within, throughout, and by each other. They represent the
cosmic interplay of the forces of creation. And so it is on all planes of existence within
the bounds of manifestation. Something may even be said about unmanifestation or the
negative existence of God. Negative existence is a necessary paradox for manifestation to
come into being. This is the concept of the Qabalistic Ain Soph and the Three Negative
Veils of the Buddhist. The full proportion of this doctrine has been said to lie beyond
human comprehension. Of course, in this state, the universal laws exist only latently,
waiting to be called into action. And even between something and nothing, there is a
cycle. So the Ain Soph itself is subject to cyclic law, although not the other laws
previously mentioned.
The Ain is void and literally no thing. This void is like a circle without a central
point, therefore no circumference. It could be thought of as infinite energy that contracted
itself into its center and established a limitless expression of itself. Still there is no form.
The tendency of substance exerted to its center proceeds and creates limitless light. It is
unlimited but becomes limited in order to create. The light is infinite and there is no
darkness or separation from it. A will arose in the light to impart its glory. When this
thought occurred in the divine mind, it instantly commenced the creation of the manifold
universe. The first cause was to give, and this created the will to receive. Still both are
contained within the limitless light without division. The will to receive connects with the
will to impart and the latter becomes like unto the former to emulate its maker and begins
to no longer receive. This puts a limitation on receiving the light by contraction. Thus the
light formulates into a central point of being. It becomes absolute unity or the monad.
This light exists in the infinite world, yet it permeates all things created. The further
process of how this divine unity expands gives us a look at formation.
The Divine Ratio or the phi principle is a representation of how existence comes
into being from non-existence. Phi is the ratio of micros to the macros, following a
hierarchy from the lowest and most diverse, cyclically moving to and from the First
Cause of all. The greater division of the equation is the will to impart and the smaller
portion is the will to receive. For these proportions and philosophies to be demonstrated
in architecture was the reason for the first Masonic initiations. They sought to express
God in geometry. The expressions of divinity can be seen everywhere when you have the
eyes to see. When you look with your inner eye from the soul, you cannot ere because the
soul is our connection to the Creator who is infinite wisdom and light.
