Lesson 3 A. The results at their disobedience. Genesis 3:7 1. Innocence lost. a.

God created Adam and Eve innocent, they had no knowledge of good and evil due to their disobedience they now were knowledgeable. b. Immediate shame. c. Hid from God. d. When God asked who told thee that thou wast naked? Was this an opportunity for confession? All God got was an effort on the part of Adam and Eve was to justify themselves by passing the blame on other. Eve attempted to pass it on Satan and Adam seemed to blame God saying the woman you gave me gave to me and I did eat. 2. Extended consequences on the human race. a. It reaches far beyond Adam and Eve touching everyone and everything. b. Most Bible believing Christians accept traducionism, which means Adam passed on all a spirit that was dead in trespasses and sin. Romans 5:12;Ephesians 2:1 c. Except that spirit be quickened (made alive) in the individual by faith in Christ and His work at Calvary one cannot be with God. Ephesians 2:5. B. Serpent cursed above all animals. Genesis 3:14 1. To crawl in the dust was a mark of degrogation. 2. God will allow Satan to live, for He has much use for him, but God assures mankind of Satans defeat and destruction. Genesis 3:15; John 12:31; Revelation 20:10. 3. The curse upon Satan continues through the millennium on the serpent. Isaiah 65:25. C. Sins consequence on women. Genesis 3:16. 1. Sorrow in conception. The Hebrew word for sorrow indicates worrisome, pain, and sorrow. 2. She shall have a longing for her husband. 3. The word help-meet made the woman and aid to her husband, but because of sin the husband is to rule over the woman. 4. The husband is to love (agape) the wife, he is to love, protect and help her as Christ loves, protects and helps the church. Ephesians 5:22-25, 33 5. Wives are to be submissive to this love, help and protection. See illustration 5 D. Sins consequence to mankind. Genesis 3:17-19. 1. In sorrow shall mankind earn a living. The word sorrow has a downside. His living shall agitate and vex the man. 2. Without God nothing but dust. 3. Expelled from the presence of God. E. Much speculation about Genesis 3:21.

1. Dr. C. C. Ryrie footnotes in his Bible states The coats of skin were Gods provision for restoring Adam and Eves fellowship with Himself and implying slaying an animal in order to provide them. 2. Abel knew about faith and sacrificing an animal to please God. (Hebrews 11:4). So surely his parents understood. 3. The truth of the sacrifice must have been taught because Cain was punished for violating the truth. F. Trouble in the family. Genesis 4:1-26 1. It appears that Eve is in fellowship with God, praising Him for Cain. 2. The trouble in the family has its roots in the heart of two boys. Abels heart is right with God and Cains heart is not right. Its not the sacrifices, its the heart. a. God looks on the heart not the outward. I Samuel 16:7 b. Jesus taught that out of the heart proceed thoughts, murders, and etc. Matthew 15:19. c. John taught that Cain was of the devil. I John 3:12 d. The English word respect does not amply express what God did about Cains sacrifice. The Hebrew states that God turned away and would not look at Cains sacrifice for Cains heart was not right with God. 3. God appeals to Cain for repentance, he tells him to either have a change or sin, like a beast, will lodge at his door. Genesis 4:6-7 4. Cain steps over the line and in a fit of anger slays his brother. Genesis 4:8 5. God curses Cain. Genesis 4:11a. a. He will need to labor hard to get results. Genesis 4:12a b. He will be unwelcome and a wanderer. c. God gave him some token, he would not be killed. c1. Some say a paralysis like Jacob. c2. Rabbi ben-Uzziel a great teacher teaches Cain had the name Yahweh stamped on him. c3. One Rabbi taught he had a horn grown on his forehead. G. The generation of Adam. Genesis 5:1-6:8 1. Gods sovereign choice. a. God through Adam chose Seth over the older Cain, b. Through Seth God chose Noah. c. God through Noah chose Shem. d. Through Shem God chose Abraham. e. God through Abraham chose Isaac over Ishmael. f. Isaac chose Judah over Reuben. g. Judah through David, through Nathan, through Mary had Jesus Christ, King of Kings and Lord of over all.
