Prerequisites Checklist
The following prerequisites must be fulfilled for successful deployment and usage of the EVidya system at your campus. Please check the appropriate checkboxes against each item. Space. For proper long-term usage, it is essential that the E-Vidya system be housed in a suitable rack. Please ensure that suitable rack space is available BEFORE the EVidya system is deployed at your campus. 5U standard rack space is available. (E-Vidya can be deployed.) 5U standard rack space will be available before system shipment. No rack space is available. (E-Vidya cannot be deployed.) Power. UPS. Minimum 2 KVA UPS with battery backup time of at least 3 hours is required. E-Vidya systems are normally run 24x7 and should never be allowed to crash owing to power outage. 2 KVA UPS with 3 hours battery backup is available 2 KVA UPS with 3 hours battery backup is not available Cooling. Suitably Air Conditioned server room or data center with approximately 0.5 ton AC capacity should be available for the E-Vidya server. Available Not available Network ports. Two (2) RJ-45 Ethernet ports connected to the campus LAN are required adjacent to the spot where the E-Vidya system will be located. Available Not available LAN Bandwidth. A high performance LAN is essential for proper functioning of the E-Vidya solution. It is strongly recommended that the college gets its LAN upgraded as needed BEFORE opting for E-Vidya. Please specify the type of LAN architecture you have at your campus. 1,000 Mbps or faster Gigabit LAN with structured VLAN architecture (EVidya can be deployed and multiple concurrent NPTEL video streams can be delivered to hundreds of client computers across the campus over your network.) 1,000 Mbps Gigabit LAN without VLAN architecture (E-Vidya can be deployed and NPTEL video streams can be delivered to client computers. However, an upgrade to a structured VLAN architecture is required before multiple NPTEL video streams can be delivered concurrently to a large number of client computers across the campus over your network.) 100 Mbps (E-Vidya can be deployed and NPTEL video streaming can be demonstrated on a single network segment with no other traffic. However, your network must be upgraded to 1,000 Mbps gigabit LAN with a VLAN architecture before multiple NPTEL video streams can be delivered concurrently to client computers across the campus over your network.) 10 Mbps or slower (E-Vidya cannot be deployed on your network. Your network must be upgraded to a 1,000 Mbps gigabit LAN before E-Vidya can be deployed at your campus.)

Client Computer Hardware. A reasonably powerful client computer is essential for proper playback of the NPTEL video streams. It is strongly recommended that the college gets its computers upgraded as needed BEFORE opting for E-Vidya. Please specify the type of client computers at your campus that the majority of E-Vidya users will have access to. Dual Core Pentium or faster CPU, 2 GB or more system RAM, video card with 512 MB or more Video RAM, 1280x1024 or higher resolution display. (E-Vidya can be used normally.) Pentium 4 or similar CPU, 1 GB or lower system RAM, video card with 256 MB or less Video RAM, 1280x1024 resolution display. (E-Vidya can be used but occasional difficulties may be encountered.) Pentium 3 or slower CPU, 512 MB or lower system RAM, video card with 128 MB or less Video RAM, smaller than 1280x1024 resolution display. (E-Vidya cannot be used satisfactorily.) Client Computer Software Environment. A modern client computer operating environment is required for proper playback of the NPTEL video streams. The college must get its computer operating systems updated as needed BEFORE opting for EVidya. Declaration
We have verified that the above infrastructure and facilities are available for use in deploying the TISRA E-Vidya E-learning solution at our campus. We understand that the TISRA EVidya system cannot be expected to function properly at our campus and cannot be supported unless the network infrastructure requirements listed above are met fully.
