acetaminophen Oral Uses

This drug is used to treat mild to moderate pain (Irom headaches, menstrual periods, toothaches, backaches, osteoarthritis, or cold/Ilu
aches and pains) and to reduce Iever.
How to use acetaminophen Oral
Take this product by mouth as directed. Follow all directions on the product package. II you are uncertain about any oI the
inIormation, consult your doctor or pharmacist.
There are many brands and Iorms oI acetaminophen available. Read the dosing instructions careIully Ior each product because the
amount oI acetaminophen may be diIIerent between products. Do not take more acetaminophen than recommended. (See also Side
EIIects and Precautions sections.)
For suspensions, shake the medication well beIore each dose. Measure the liquid medication with the provided dose-measuring
spoon/dropper/syringe to make sure you have the correct dose. Do not use a household spoon.
For rapidly-dissolving tablets, chew or allow to dissolve on the tongue, then swallow with or without water. For chewable tablets,
chew thoroughly beIore swallowing.
Do not crush or chew extended-release tablets. Doing so can release all oI the drug at once, increasing the risk oI side eIIects. Also, do
not split the tablets unless they have a score line and your doctor or pharmacist tells you to do so. Swallow the whole or split tablet
without crushing or chewing.
For eIIervescent tablets, dissolve the dose in the recommended amount oI water, then drink.
Pain medications work best iI they are used as the Iirst signs oI pain occur. II you wait until the symptoms have worsened, the
medication may not work as well.
Do not take this medication Ior Iever Ior more than 3 days unless directed by your doctor. For adults, do not take this product Ior pain
Ior more than 10 days (5 days in children) unless directed by your doctor. II the child has a sore throat (especially with high Iever,
headache, or nausea/vomiting), consult the doctor promptly.
Tell your doctor iI your condition persists or worsens or iI you develop new symptoms. II you think you may have a serious medical
problem, get medical help right away.
acetaminophen Oral Side Effects
This drug usually has no side eIIects. II you have any unusual eIIects, contact your doctor or pharmacist promptly.
II your doctor has directed you to use this medication, remember that he or she has judged that the beneIit to you is greater than the
risk oI side eIIects. Many people using this medication do not have serious side eIIects.
II you do not have liver problems, the maximum dose oI acetaminophen Ior adults is 4 grams per day (4000 milligrams). The
maximum dose oI acetaminophen Ior children is based on age/weight (check product package Ior details). Taking more than the
maximum daily amount may cause serious (possibly Iatal) liver damage. Get medical help right away iI you have any oI the Iollowing
symptoms oI liver damage: persistent nausea/vomiting, extreme tiredness, stomach/abdominal pain, yellowing eyes/skin, dark urine.
II you have liver problems, consult your doctor or pharmacist Ior a saIe dosage oI this medication.
A very serious allergic reaction to this drug is rare. However, get medical help right away iI you notice any symptoms oI a serious
allergic reaction, including: rash, itching/swelling (especially oI the Iace/tongue/throat), severe dizziness, trouble breathing.

acetaminophen Oral Precautions
BeIore taking acetaminophen, tell your doctor or pharmacist iI you are allergic to it; or iI you have any other allergies. This product
may contain inactive ingredients, which can cause allergic reactions or other problems. Talk to your pharmacist Ior more details.
BeIore using this product, tell your doctor or pharmacist your medical history, especially oI: liver disease, regular use/abuse oI
alcohol.
Acetaminophen may cause liver damage. Daily use oI alcohol, especially when combined with acetaminophen, may increase your risk
Ior liver damage. Avoid alcohol. Check with your doctor or pharmacist Ior more inIormation.
Liquid products, chewable tablets, or dissolving/eIIervescent tablets may contain sugar or aspartame. Caution is advised iI you have
diabetes, phenylketonuria (PKU), or any other condition that requires you to limit/avoid these substances in your diet. II you have any
oI these conditions, ask your doctor or pharmacist about using these products saIely.
Tell your doctor iI you are pregnant beIore using this medication.
Acetaminophen passes into breast milk. Consult your doctor beIore breast-Ieeding.
acetaminophen Oral Interactions
Drug interactions may change how your medications work or increase your risk Ior serious side eIIects. This document does not
contain all possible drug interactions. Keep a list oI all the products you use (including prescription/nonprescription drugs and herbal
products) and share it with your doctor and pharmacist. Do not start, stop, or change the dosage oI any medicines without your
doctor's approval.
Some products that may interact with this drug include: "blood thinners" (such as warIarin), isoniazid.
Acetaminophen is an ingredient in many nonprescription products and in some combination prescription medications. Read the labels
careIully beIore taking other pain relievers, Iever reducers, or cold products to see iI they also contain acetaminophen. Consult your
pharmacist iI you are uncertain whether your other prescription or nonprescription products contain acetaminophen. (See also

This medication may interIere with certain laboratory tests, possibly causing Ialse test results. Make sure laboratory personnel and all
your doctors know you use this drug.
acetaminophen Oral Overdose
II overdose is suspected, contact a poison control center or emergency room immediately. US residents can call the US National
Poison Hotline at 1-800-222-1222. Canada residents can call a provincial poison control center. Symptoms oI overdose may include:
nausea, vomiting, increased sweating, yellowing eyes/skin, dark urine, severe stomach/abdominal pain, extreme tiredness.
NOTES:
Acetaminophen does not cause the stomach and intestinal ulcers that NSAIDs such as aspirin, ibuproIen, and naproxen may cause.
However, acetaminophen does not reduce swelling (inIlammation) like the NSAIDs do. Consult your doctor Ior more details and to
see which medication might be right Ior you.
MISSED DOSE:
II you are taking this medication on a regular schedule and miss a dose, take it as soon as you remember. II it is near the time oI the
next dose, skip the missed dose and resume your usual dosing schedule. Do not double the dose to catch up.
STORAGE:
Store at room temperature away Irom light and moisture. Do not store in the bathroom. Keep all medications away Irom children and
pets.
Do not Ilush medications down the toilet or pour them into a drain unless instructed to do so. Properly discard this product when it is
expired or no longer needed. Consult your pharmacist or local waste disposal company.

Soda Mint Oral Uses
Sodium bicarbonate reduces stomach acid. It is used as an antacid to treat heartburn, indigestion, and upset stomach. Sodium
bicarbonate is a very quick-acting antacid. It should be used only Ior temporary relieI. II you need to treat long-term stomach acid
problems (e.g., peptic ulcer disease, GERD), talk with your doctor about other medications.
Sodium bicarbonate is the active ingredient in baking soda.
OTHER USES: This section contains uses oI this drug that are not listed in the approved labeling Ior the drug but that may be
prescribed by your health care proIessional. Use this drug Ior a condition that is listed in this section only iI it has been so prescribed
by your health care proIessional.
This medication may be used to make the urine less acidic. This eIIect helps the kidneys get rid oI uric acid, thereby helping to prevent
gout and kidney stones. It can make some medications (e.g., sulIonamides) work better or can help your body get rid oI too much
medication (e.g., phenobarbital). This medication can also prevent and treat certain metabolic problems (acidosis) caused by kidney
disease.
How to use Soda Mint Oral
Take this medication by mouth, usually every 4 hours as needed or as directed by your doctor. Follow all directions on the product
package. II you are uncertain about any oI the inIormation, consult your doctor or pharmacist.
II you are selI-treating and your acid problems persist or worsen aIter you have used this product Ior 2 weeks, or iI you think you have
a serious medical problem, seek immediate medical attention. II you are using this medication regularly on a daily basis Ior more than
2 weeks, you may have a medical problem that needs diIIerent treatment. Ask your doctor iI this is the right medication Ior you.
II your doctor has directed you to take this medication Ior acidosis or to alkalinize your urine, your dosage is based on your medical
condition and response to treatment. To get the most beneIit Irom this medication, take it regularly, exactly as directed. It is usually
taken by mouth several times a day. To help you remember, take it at the same times each day. Do not increase the dose, take it more
oIten or continue taking this Ior longer than prescribed.
Soda Mint Oral Side Effects
Nausea, bloating, or gas may occur. II any oI these eIIects persist or worsen, contact your doctor or pharmacist promptly.
II your doctor has directed you to use this medication, remember that he or she has judged that the beneIit to you is greater than the
risk oI side eIIects. Many people using this medication do not have serious side eIIects.
Tell your doctor immediately iI any oI these unlikely but serious side eIIects occur: swelling hands/ankles/Ieet, unusual weight gain.
When taken with sodium bicarbonate, large doses oI calcium Irom your diet, medications, or supplements can rarely cause a serious
problem called milk-alkali syndrome. Ask your doctor or pharmacist about using calcium products saIely while you are using this
medication. Tell your doctor immediately iI any oI these rare but very serious side eIIects occur: dizziness, muscle aches/spasms,
mental/mood changes (e.g., conIusion, irritability, memory problems), vomiting, weakness, change in the amount oI urine.
Seek immediate medical attention iI any oI these rare but very serious side eIIects occur: chest pain, seizures.
A very serious allergic reaction to this drug is rare. However, seek immediate medical attention iI you notice any symptoms oI a
serious allergic reaction, including: rash, itching/swelling (especially oI the Iace/tongue/throat), severe dizziness, trouble breathing.

urine), severe liver disease (e.g., ascites, cirrhosis), high sodium levels, swollen ankles/legs/Ieet due to retaining water (peripheral
edema).
II you have any oI the Iollowing health problems, consult your doctor or pharmacist beIore using this product: low calcium levels,
high blood pressure, heart problems (e.g., irregular heartbeat), kidney disease.
Because this medication contains salt (sodium), do not use iI you are on a salt-restricted diet.
During pregnancy, this medication should be used only when clearly needed. This medication may worsen high blood pressure during
pregnancy (toxemia oI pregnancy). Discuss the risks and beneIits with your doctor.
This medication may pass into breast milk. Consult your doctor beIore breast-Ieeding.
Soda Mint Oral Interactions
II you are taking this product under your doctor's direction, your doctor or pharmacist may already be aware oI possible drug
interactions and may be monitoring you Ior them. Do not start, stop, or change the dosage oI any medicine beIore checking with your
doctor or pharmacist Iirst.
BeIore using this product, tell your doctor or pharmacist iI you use any oI the Iollowing products: aspirin and other salicylates (e.g.,
salsalate), barbiturates (e.g., phenobarbital), calcium supplements, corticosteroids (e.g., prednisone), medications with a special
coating to protect the stomach (enteric coating), lithium, quinidine, stimulants/decongestants (e.g., amphetamine, pseudoephedrine),
"water pills" (thiazide diuretics such as hydrochlorothiazide).
This medication can decrease the eIIectiveness oI certain drugs that require stomach acid to work, including: ampicillin, amprenavir,
atazanavir, certain azole antiIungals (e.g., ketoconazole, itraconazole), iron supplements, sucralIate.
BeIore using this medication, consult your doctor or pharmacist on how to manage this possible interaction.
