The Carrier 30XA series units are High Efficiency Air Cooled Screw Chillers, featuring non-ozone depleting HFC refrigerant (R-134a), Direct Driven Screw Compressor, Flooded Cooler, Comfort link Controls, Touch Pilot Display, Low noise Aero-Acoustic Condenser Fans and various options in condenser coil including Micro-Channel Heat Exchanger (MCHX) with Novation Technology. The 30XA units are available from 80 500 tons. The 30XA chillers are rated in accordance with ARI standard 550/590 and they exceed efficiency requirements set in ASHRAE 90.1. Carrier 30XA product line offers 80-500 tons with 19 models. 90-350 tons are offered as single module and 400-500 tons are duplex units.

We can also arrange two 30XA Chillers (up to 350 tons each) in series to get higher capacities. Chillers for Duplex arrangement shall have minus one pass and can be selected through NACO Packaged Chiller Builder Program.

Trane offers 140-500 tons fro Standard Efficiency Series with 13 models and 140-400 tons for HiEfficiency Series with 11 models. Compressors:
Carrier and other competitors offer Direct Drive Screw Compressors. Carrier Compressors are Field Serviceable. Compressor quantity varies for different size and from manufacturer to manufacturer. Zamil chillers have highest no of compressors There are 6 compressors in their largest chiller ASY 500B. Due to this reason weight of Zamil Chillers is also more than other brands. For 200-500 sizes 30XA models have 10-30% less weight than Zamil. EER at 115oF and Part Load Efficiency:

Carrier 30XA Chillers are best in class. They have higher EER at 115 oF than the competitors. This results in lower operating cost. Cooler Design:
Carrier, Trane, Zamil and SKM chillers have flooded cooler design. York has DX cooler. Flooded cooler is mechanically cleanable. Carrier coolers are designed for 300 psig (except for 400 to 500 tons). Coolers for Trane, York, and SKM are designed for 150psig. Design pressure for Zamil coolers is 263 psig.

POINTS TO REMEMBER AGAINST YORKS VSDS:

When two or more chillers are working in a chiller plant chiller sequencing controls are used to optimize the performance of the plant. Generally, as per sequence of operation only one compressor will be running at part load will utilize the VSD for reducing the capacity of the chiller. With VSD, we need qualified technician.

Maintenance cost will be more. Standard York Chillers with VSD has lower IPLV rating than Carrier 30XA
