TITLE -Automatic Railway Gate Controller at Unmanned Crossing TEAM MEMBERS1. 2. 3. 4. Suryankar Saxena Rahul Kumar Bhaskar Dutta Durgesh Srivastava

OBJECTIVE (AIM) - The aim of developing an Automatic Railway Gate

Controller At Unmanned Crossing. Which guide the gate at rail way crossing automatically as well as one more feature for proper Safety that is a vehicle is on the track and the train is coming then the signal is provided to the train so that the train get slow down manually or automatically and give the time to the vehicle to pass. TECHNICAL DETAILS When the train is coming on the track the sensor will detect the coming train through the IR Transmitted ray interruption and provide the signal to the microcontroller , then the microcontroller provide the signal to the signal light (red/green) to get red,and also provide the signal to IC-555 timer so that the timer switch on the relay for a particular duration of time to run the DC motor in particular direction to shut the gate at the crossing . And as the train passes the gate another sensor sense it and provide the signal to the microcontroller, and through the timer the second relay get on and run the DC motor in antilock wise direction to open the gate. Now one more thing that is introduced is that sometime it is seen that accident on the track can be prevented if the time delay of few second can be provided by the train to reach at this point .For this point of view we provided a switch which can be triggered manually by the driver or can be automatically so that if the some body is on the track

the train will automatically slow down to some below speed , that will provide the lag of few second that may safe accident under some circumstances

Current Status Of Developments We can use the same concept by using

the microcontroller & reciver alog the track to provide the track switching locomotive vechile while in case of the traffic problem. to the

TRACK SWITCHINGUsing the same principle as that of gate control, we have developed the concept of automatic track switching. Considering a situation wherein a express train and a local train is traveling on the same track in opposite direction, the express train is allowed to travel on the same track, and the local train has to switch on the other track. Indicator light has been provided to avoid the collision. Here the switching operation is performed using a stepper motor.

ADVANTAGE
1. A.R.G.C.U.C is very compact design keeping in mind the space constraints of the control system of the railway 2. It is cheap and involves very small cost of automation 3. This requires very small amount of power for its working so it is cost effective too for the railway board. 4. It requires very less maintenance cost .If at all mechanical and electrical damage arising out of accident and failure. 5. It reduces the need of the man power at the crossing hence reducing the cost of employment for the railway board. 6. It also reduces the accidental cases arises due to the malfunctioning of the conventional gate control or the careless handling of the manual gate.
