How to configure a VertX unit

Before to enroll a VertX unit in Synergis, some preliminary configurations are required Initial configuration The controller is set by default in DCHP to acquire an IP address. To acquire an IP address by DCHP the network port (Ethernet) must be connected before the unit is powered on. To access the web interface of the unit, you may use its IP address or its Virtual Port IP address which is 169.254.242.121. This virtual port is always accessible but cant be routed on a network and is common to all VertX controller. The default user/password is Admin with no password or you may also use the account to enroll the controller which is root/pass Basic setup page
Set the IP address of the controller, if the unit and the server are on different VLAN,

set a static IP address for the unit.

Set a password for the Admin user Save

Advanced Network Setup This page gives access to the same option as the Basic setup page with the possibility to set a hostname for the unit. The hostname should be 1- 16 alphanumeric characters long, no space and no special character System Status This page display any inputs in alarm, it also let you test an input/ouput, add an unconfigured module and verify the firmware version To access the icon legend, click on the link on the top right corner Any icon displayed in Red, means that either an input is misconfigured or there is a problem with that input. Click on 'Add unconfigured' to add any modules (V100, V200, V300) not displayed on this page (for the modules to be recognized in Synergis, the V1000 need to be restarted) The version should be 2.2.7.18 The Program/EEprom versions for a V100 should be 113 & 110

The Program/EEprom versions for a V200 should be 106 & 105 The Program/EEprom versions for a V300 should be 107 & 104

Supplemental configuration Prior to version 1.2, this had to be set before enrolling the unit in Synergis, now it can be done in the Config Tool Click on the Module you want to configure (V2000 or V100 icon) Wait until you see a dot next to the door behavior before editing anything. 1. Select the appropriate door behavior for this interface 2. In the door monitor section, make sure the minimum open time is greater than '0' 3. If you need to change the default state of an input, swap the HRUL with the LRUL values and do the same with the HRLL and LRLL values. 4. To configure supervised input, please refer to the following table : Reader interface V100 or Output control interface V300 N/C switch (Door Switch) N/O switch (REX Switch) 4 tats 2 tats 4 tats 2 tats 2K/1K 4K/2K 2K/1K 4K/2K 180 196 196 HRUL 215 215 255 159 159 0 HRLL 181 197 197 215 215 255 LRUL 180 196 196 181 197 197 LRLL 159 159 0

Sometimes although the firmware installed is the right version, Synergis fails to enroll the controller trying to retrieve the eeprom settings. If this happens in the supplemental configuration page click on this icon

This will open the update system page and let you select the modules you want to update. The modules program code are held in the controller firmware but sometimes needs to be refreshed. The process takes about 2-3 minutes.
