Ronald Reagan was born on February 6th, 1911 in Illinois.

Reagan was the 40th president of the United States and the 33rd governor of California. Before Reagan was involved in his remarkable presidency, he was an accomplished actor and politician. From 1932 to 1964 Reagan acted in several great films including Love is on the air, Santa Fe Trail, and Kings Row. When his politician career started out, he was a democrat who had supported Roosevelts New Deal and an admirer of Franklin D. Roosevelts work. From 1967-1975 Ron Reagan was the governor of California, where he had moved as a child in 1932. During his time as governor he faced many difficult issues in stride. These tough issues included abortion in which he attempted to limit the number of back room or behind-the-back abortions. Reagan also dealt with the death penalty. He helped to pass a law that invalidated all death sentences in California before 1972. During his term only one man was executed. All of the above lead to his run for presidency. After getting on the ballot in 1976, Reagan finally was elected to the 40th president of the United States. The margin of victory for Reagan was monstrous. He won his electoral votes 489 compared to 49 for Carter. During his Presidency, Ronald Reagan pursued policies that reflected his optimism in overall freedom, promoted individual liberty, and pursued freedom for all. The "Reagan Revolution" as it came to be known, aimed to charge American morale, and reduce the people's reliance upon government. On March 30th 1981 an attempt was made on Reagans life. 3 other members of Reagans cabinet were struck by gunfire from deranged gunman John Hinckly Jr.

Other highlights of Reagans first term included his war on drugs, and the short war in Grenada. In the 1984 presidential election, Reagan was re-elected over former Vice President Walter Modale, winning 49 of 50 states. It was the largest margin of victory in American history and still remains that way. Also in 1984 Reagan became the first US president to open the Olympics in the United States. Ron Reagans second term was even better than his first. Reagans most memorable moment in presidency occurred at the end of the cold war. Reagan was the one person pushing the Soviet government over the brink to tear down the dreaded Berlin wall in 1987. Reagans presidency was exemplified by many new policies, the end of unjust governments, and the push for Americas liberty throughout his time in office. Undoubtedly Reagan was among one of Americas greatest presidents in history. Reagan passed away in 2004 at the age of 93 due to Alzheimers disease but will go down as a great president and man in American history.
