The Truth About Attitude

#1.

Our Attitude Determines Our Relationships With People All of life is impacted by your relationships with people, yet establishing relationships is difficult. The Stanford Research Institute says that the money you make in any endeavor is determined only 12.5 percent by knowledge and 87.5 percent by your ability to deal with others.

We must possess an attitude that places others first: Philippians 2:3-5 says Let nothing be done through strife or vainglory; but in
lowliness of mind let each esteem other better than themselves. Look not every man on his own things, but every man also on the things of others. We must see

people as important and learn to respect anothers viewpoint. Until we walk in the other persons shoes and see life through anothers eyes, we will be like the man who angrily jumped out of his car after a collision with another car. WHY DONT YOU PEOPLE WATCH WHERE YOURE DRIVING? HE SHOUTED WILDLY. YOURE THE FOURTH CAR THATS HIT ME TODAY! Usually the person who rises within a ministry has a good attitude. Being elevated in ministry does not give an individual an outstanding attitude; but an outstanding attitude can result in being elevated in ministry.

Our Attitude Can Turn Our Problems Into Blessings In Awake, My Heart, J. Sidlow Baxter wrote, What is the difference between an obstacle and an opportunity? It is our attitude toward it. Every opportunity has a difficulty and every difficulty has an opportunity. When confronted with a difficult situation, a person with an outstanding attitude makes the best of it while he may get the worst of it. Life can be likened to a grindstone. Whether it grinds you down or polishes you up depends upon what you are made of. Kites rise against, not with the wind. When the adverse wind of criticism blows your way, allow it to be to you what the blast of the wind is to the kite it is a force against it that lifts it higher!

Our Attitude Can Propel Our Faith To New Dimensions For example, in ancient Israel when Goliath came up against the Hebrews, the soldiers all thought, hes so big we can never kill him. David looked at the same giant and thought, hes so big I cant miss! People in ministry with good, positive attitudes are like bumblebees. According to the theory of aerodynamics, the bumblebee should be unable to fly. Because of the bumblebees size, weight and shape of its body, in relationship to its total wing span - flying is scientifically impossible. But the bumblebee being ignorant of scientific theory, goes right ahead and flies anyway; making honey in the process every day! In ministry no matter what obstacles we meet that makes our goals seem impossible, we can move forward by the wings of faith and experience the honey of worship everyday.

Our Attitude Is Not Automatically Good Because We Are Christians It is noteworthy that the seven deadly sins pride, covetousness, lust, envy, anger, gluttony, and sloth are all matters of attitude, inner spirit, and motives. Often people overlook the true meaning of the story of the prodigal son. They forget that there are not one but two prodigals. The younger brother is guilty of the sins of the flesh, whereas the elder brother is guilty of the sins of the spirit. His problem is his attitude. At the end of the parable, it is the elder brother the second prodigal who is outside the fathers house. This is a good lesson for all of us to remember. A poor attitude will take us places we dont want to go. Sometimes it can even take you completely out of the game. On the other hand, a good attitude puts you in the place of greatest victory! Remember the words of Philippians 4:8; Paul describes the secret to having a joy that is greater than lifes difficulties. He says: Brothers and sisters, think about the things that are good and worthy of praise. Think about the things that are true and honorable and right and pure and beautiful and respected. (NCV) The key to having a good attitude is the willingness to change. Care about each person in the ministry. Ministry will improve when each part is determined to focus on the others strengths as opposed to focusing on the others weaknesses. Lets build on strengths and not focus on weaknesses.
