Daylin Drashawn Aylor, 19, of South Riding, will serve eight years in the Virginia Department of Corrections for robbing three high school students earlier this year. Aylor appeared Nov. 22 in Loudoun County Circuit Court. On Feb. 26, 2011, Aylor and Daquante Timbers robbed three Freedom High School students at knife point for less than $50. None of the students were harmed. Aylor, 18 at the time, was later convicted of robbery and attempted robbery for the incident. Aylor was a Freedom High School student at the time of the crime, and according to the Commonwealth Attorneys Office, has a significant history in the juvenile courts of Prince William County. His prior convictions consist of robbery, larceny and multiple probation violations. The Juvenile Court makes every effort to rehabilitate and redirect the behavior of youths who commit crimes, Commonwealths Attorney Jim Plowman said. However, when these offenders become adults, the Courts focus takes a drastic shift from rehabilitation to protection of the community. Although eligible, a judge denied Aylors request for consideration into the Department of Corrections Youthful Offender Program. Aylor was sentenced to serve 15 years in prison for the robbery and five years for the attempted robbery by Chief Circuit Court Judge Thomas D. Horne. Twelve of the 20 years were suspended. Aylor will be on supervised probation for 15 years after he is released from prison. Timbers was convicted of assault and disorderly conduct for his role in the incident.
