NCTA dedicated its new buildings Friday, November 18, during a ceremony in the new Agriculture Industry Education Center. Speaker Ronnie Green, Vice Chancellor of the UNL Institute of Agriculture and Natural Resources, said the event was a momentous day for agriculture in Nebraska. Other speakers included Dean Sleight, representatives for state and U.S. senators, major NCTA donor George Garlick, and leaders of agriculture industries. Also in attendance was Dr. Walter Long, credited with founding the veterinary technology program in 1968. The new buildings are expected to help NCTA double student enrollment in the future. Already students are using the Dr. Walter Long Veterinary Technology Hospital Addition (bottom right) and living in the new Aggie Central Residence Hall and George and Carol Garlick Aggie West Resident Hall. In December, the new biomass project will help heat the campus by burning red cedar wood chips. Another major project, the Agriculture Industry Education Center (above right), adds an auditorium, several large teaching clasrooms, a computer room, and new labratories to the campus. Total funding from the state and donations from individuals, businesses and organizations is $15 million. (Photos courtesy http://kneb.com)

Thoughts on Thankfulness
personally, instead of just accepting it as clich. So many times I have had the thoughts of not mattering to people, but I have found that isnt true at all and I am so very appreciative of all the support that I have gotten from everyone. So what am I thankful for? Im thankful for those that have raised me. Those that serve this country and who have died for me. Those that have been the right example for me. Those that I have made unforgettable memories with. Those that have stood beside me my entire life. Those that I have recently gotten closer to. Those that, no matter what, always do what they can for me. Im thankful for life and Im thankful for today.

I just wanted to share my thoughts since Thanksgiving on being thankful. These past couple years Ive gone through financial struggles, family struggles, relationship struggles, mental struggles and spiritual struggles. But recently I visited some friends and realized that what I do have is so much more than what I dont have. I have the absolute best friends I could ask for far better than I deserve. I have a great family, especially my dad and I dont thank him enough. As I think more about what I have, I think about all the times that someone has said Its nice to see you. I have started taking that more

- Deer season appears to have been very successful. - X-mas is not as nice when your parents get the academic probation letter before you do. - I dont want to see Foot Loose every again. Ever. - Watching the news is not an uplifting experience. - Thanksgiving with my wifes family may include many hours of wood cutting. On my own. - It takes more than 2 Vet Techs to give my dog a bath. => - If you are a man living in a house with more than two women, just smile and say nothing. Always. - The Cornhuskers are much worse than I thought. And - I thought they were bad to begin with. - Im ready for a break.
