What made this man sit up and listen about modern day slavery? A brochure he was given by someone in London. 2. What are slave based businesses? What are the benefits? People do the slave based businesses because it is an economic crime. They do it for profits (gain money) Slave based businesses are businesses that resolve around slaves and child laborers. 3. What are modern day slaves? Modern day slaves are people who work that is treated badly and is given no money at all for wages along with put into a dangerous situation 4. Where is modern day slavery happening? All over the world except for Greenland and Iceland. Mostly in Southeast Asia 5. How many people were there in slavery during 2010? There were about 27 million slaves in the world. 6. What are some of the reasons behind modern day slavery? Some of the reasons behind modern day slavery are because of corruption; born to be a slave, increase of vulnerable people and etc. 7. What is the average price of a slave today? The average price was $90. 8. Where are slaves: More expensive? North America -$3000(developed place) Less expensive? Nepal and India -$5(less developed place) Why do you think this? Because Nepal and India, there are more people in the country. 9. How can we combat modern day slavery? We can combat modern day slavery by checking who and how the product are made before buying them 10. What is liberation? Liberation is when someone has the freedom to their rights 11. How much does it cost to free slavery? $10.8 billion
