SS-Panzerdivision in Flames Of War

The 2. and 12. SS-Panzer divisions feature in the Cobra battle book, but operating in Normandy in 1944 were three other SS-Panzer divisions. These were the 1., 9., and 10. SS-Panzer divisions. Use Cobra with this PDF for platoons, options and points, plus we add three additional options included here. This PDF contains company organisational diagrams for each of the companies in Cobra. These are to be used for the different company types the 1., 9. and 10. SS-Panzer divisions instead of those found inside Cobra. White pages references refer to Cobra and red page references refer to this PDF. All three divisions companies are rated Fearless Veteran. 1. SS-Panzerdivision companies use the Panzer Ace and Instant Readiness special rules. The 9. and 10. SS-Panzer division companies use the Panzer Ace and One-way Trip To Heaven special rules. All three divisions are veterans of the eastern front, fighting the Soviets in the Ukraine until being transferred to Normandy to face the Allied invasion. An SS-Panzerkompanie is rated as Fearless Veteran.

Though all three divisions are based on the same Panzerdivision organisation, their allocation of Panzers was not the same due to production shortages and some units still training. The 1. SS-Panzerdivisions Panzer Regiment was armed with Panther and Panzer IV tanks. The 9. SS-Panzerdivision had one battalion with Panther tanks, while the second was armed with Panzer IV tanks and StuG III G assault guns to make up the short fall. The 10. SS-Panzerdivision still had its Panther battalion forming, while its Panzer IV battalion was armed with a mix of Panzer IV tanks and StuG III G assault guns.

The Panzers provide the SS-Panzer divisions with the strike power they need to throw the Allies back to the beaches and into the sea. The Allies have nothing that can equal the mighty Panther, and the Panzer IV and StuG guns make quick work of the Allied Sherman tanks.

The Panzergrenadier Battalions of the 1. SS-Panzerdivision were armed with 12cm sGW43 heavy mortar instead of the 7.5cm leIG18 guns as additional fire support. These mortars give them immediate bombardments from a weapon with a good high-explosive round, ideal for taking out dug-in enemy guns and infantry.
