PROGRAMMABLE LOGIC CONTROL (PLC)

COURSE OVERVIEW Programmable Logic Control (PLC) has been widely used in industries requiring process control and automation. Even though PLC was invented in 1960s, a lot of us still do not understand how PLC actually functions. The wide scope of PLC control and automation which encompasses factory machinery control, elevator control, lighting and air-conditioning system in skyscrapers, drainage and waste management system etc; requires depth imagination, creativity and thoughts. This course is targeted to produce skill workers who are not only highly dedicated but also very creative in contributing to the development of their field. Through this course, participants will be taught the basic on how to plan and develop PLC programming using Ladder Diagram. Participants will be exposed on various applications that can be developed using PLC. WHAT WILL YOU LEARN Even though the course will be using Omron branded PLC, participant is actually taught on the general basic control system, automation and PLC programming. If participant concentrates on each module taught, he/she shall be able to use any PLC of any other brands. Among topics that will be taught : Introduction to PLC and some of its applications What you should know about relay and timer PLC programming using ladder diagram Data manipulation and logic theory in PLC Concepts on control system and automation Practical trainings Next steps

WHO SHOULD ATTEND This course is designed for managers, engineers, supervisors, technicians and college students who are involved in electrical/mechanical fields and are interested to know about PLC usage and functions. This course must also be attended by whoever interested in venturing into design and development of control and automation system; in which PLC can be used as a medium. PREREQUISITE Technical background in related electrical, mechanical or programming is helpful in expediting the learning process. However, depth knowledge in electrical is not essential, as far as the participant knows basic electrical theory (L, N and E). COURSE METHODOLOGY This course will be conducted in a seminar room. Each participant will be provided with notes, exercises and opportunity to perform PLC programming. Participant will experience developing his/her own system and run the system functionality using test jig.
