NEW BUSINESS: Occupy Reedly + Mennonites: prior to march, spoke with mayor, city council, and another local political entity: here is our plan, its nonviolent, let them know up front. If we start doing things in that manner, city of Visalia will be less nervous about us on the streets. Concern: Is Visalia facing that sort of nervousness from them? Occupy San Francisco organization- levels of involvement, understand how far you are willing to get pushed. Hard to write down organic development of structure. Use of mic check to confirm each level of involvement before actions are taken by the group. Perhaps use of a flowchart/diagram to show what things look like: this is what happens during a peaceful raid. This is what happens during a flash raid,etc. Shared contact information regarding city of Visalia ordinances re public assembly (bicycle parade permit). Gave an example of what were up against in the valley. A Unitarian Universalist Church meeting locally shared a recent dissertation about Dinuba/Arvin Water Issues (comparative study) similar communities. Arvin was negatively affected by plantation system of irrigation, set in place in 1920 through corporate-sponsored legislation to damn the rivers.
