I believe this device has influenced me both positively and negatively over the years. Although information is readily available anywhere I am located through this device, the obvious distractions of Facebook and other sites such as flash game sites exist. Being able to stray away from procrastination and focusing on the work at hand while using this laptop is a priceless skill that anyone using this device must master. I believe the use of my laptop has also helped influence my development of writing because of the ability to type my thoughts much faster than I could ever be able to write them onto paper. Time management is much more efficient through this item.

Answer questions you had. Pose possible theories. This object could have influenced my writing and communication skills by using it to write notes or messages to others. This pen could have been used to write papers that could have been turned in to school This pen has been used so much because the owner enjoys writing with it. The pen must be a very comfortable writing pen Maybe this pen was used by multiple people since it has very little ink.

Blue ball-point pen Blue ink Bic Brand Ultra Round Stick Grip Has a removable cap Cap has been visibly chewed on by owner (me) Very little ink left in pen due to a profuse amount of use

Instantly I see this pen has had a lot of use over the years This pen writes black and with a very smooth execution Why has this pen been used as much as it has? This pen is very professional looking The pen seems very worn

Broad Conclusion About Observation: Possibly Includes: Reflect on the data, responses, and conclusions you have documented above. Using the conclusions you have drawn about the object, decide what broader conclusions can be made about how your object has influenced the development of your reading, writing, and communication skills (remember that these conclusions can speak to how you have been influenced both positively and negatively).

This object has influenced my communication skills the most. The purpose of this pen was to communicate with my boss to inform him of daily activities and events that had happened on any given workday. I had to write in a very professional manner with respectable vocabulary, use of grammar and punctuation in order to inform my boss in a professional way rather than casual. This pen affected me positively because it was the means of communication to directly speak to my boss.

Very small card, the size of a credit card Has a barcode on the back of it Has the name Jordan Russ Has the school name Northwest Cabarrus High School on the front Library Card is present on the front of the card and also on the back The barcode is very worn

This object most likely influenced my reading skills because of the books that were checked out. The worn barcode suggests that reading was very important in my life Pulling up book records for this card it shows history books being checked out. So history must have been important to me. This card was a very important means of learning and research in my life Broad Conclusion About Observation:

This card has been used quite a lot due to the worn barcode on the back Northwest Cabarrus must have a very large library to issue library cards to every student What kinds of books were checked out by this student? This card is a very cool orange color.

Possibly Includes: Reflect on the data, responses, and conclusions you have documented above. Using the conclusions you have drawn about the object, decide what broader conclusions can be made about how your object has influenced the development of your reading, writing, and communication skills (remember that these conclusions can speak to how you have been influenced both positively and negatively). This card most likely influenced me in a very positive way, as do most library cards to most

people. This library card was obviously used quite a bit due to its obviously worn barcode on the back of it. This library card influenced my ability to read and my efficiency in research. The influence on my research directly influences my ability to communicate ideas effectively. This device also makes it seem as though I had spent a great deal of my time within the library at Northwest Cabarrus. Object Description/Title: Cell Phone Social/Cultural System Object Represent (i.e. Home, Work, School, Community/Neighborhood/Peers): Community/Neighborhoood/Peers Observations: Possibly Includes: Literal visual descriptions Literal facts Key terms that pop out Descriptions of content (this applies particularly for literary texts). Reactions: Possibly Includes: Immediate reactions Questions Emotional response Conclusions: Possibly Includes: Use evidence to decide what is reasonable to conclude about how the object has influenced your reading, writing, and communication skills. Answer questions you had. Pose possible theories. This object most likely influenced my communication skills by being able to contact others The use of text and calling is apparent and obvious due to the worn buttons on the keyboard, so communication must be a priority in my life The touchscreen works by heat emitted by ones touch, not so much the pressure applied with the touch The camera is very detailed and has a high definition The flash is very bright and lights up the surrounding environment One button locks the phone and turns it off, another is the camera take picture button, another is a back key, while the last key is a volume key.

Very small phone Has a QWERTY keyboard Slides up Has a touch screen It says KIN, Windows Phone, and Verizon Sharp on the back Has a camera on the back with a light (possibly the flash) Has only 4 buttons available aside from the keyboard

Immediately I think this phone is too small for a boy to be using, it must be a girls phone. The buttons on the keyboard are super small, and the user probably hits more than one button when he tries to use it and is possibly extremely annoying. How does the touchscreen work? How defined is the camera and is the flash very bright? What do the four buttons on the outside do?

Broad Conclusion About Observation: Possibly Includes: Reflect on the data, responses, and conclusions you have documented above. Using the conclusions you have drawn about the object, decide what broader conclusions can be made about how your object has influenced the development of your reading, writing, and

communication skills (remember that these conclusions can speak to how you have been influenced both positively and negatively). This cell phone has positively affected my ability to communicate; however, it has negatively affected my ability to read and to write because of the way I text others. I do not use proper grammar and punctuation through text and this negatively affects my habits when it comes to writing essays and papers in a school environment. It positively affects my communication because I am in constant contact with friends and my school via email and internet.
