practical. The scope oI the study covers how the organization is working, study oI the
department in the organization and analyzes the management problem in the
organization. Based on the data collected attempt to make a swot analysis and
recommend a solution Ior recovering the management problem in that organization
AIter the Second World War, Iood industry took quantum leap. This brought
in the need Ior good and quality Iood products. Products need quality and retain all
the nutritious Iactors. This can be more Iavorable to the customers at large. Food
industry across the globe is turning more and more rice, wheat and oil products.
PARISONS Group oI companies introduces mainly wheat products to the market.
Company also produces some other sub products such as edible oil, vanaspathi, etc.
This project contains various departments oI the company, the company`s
vision, mission, its objectives, Iindings and suggestions.
Importance of the study
In order to make the students Iamiliar about the organizations and its
working beIore entering into corporate world, Bharathiar university incorporated an
organizational study with the syllabus. This organizational study helps the
researcher to identiIy the importance oI coordination among the diIIerent
departments. Also it gives the opportunities to Iocus on the various activities oI
departments oI parisons liberty. This study helps the researcher to identiIy the sales
Iorce strategy and other promotional eIIorts oI the company. This study is
beneIicial to the readers also to know about the various products oI the
organization.

. To analyze current status and Iuture prospects oI the organization.
. To analyze how is the relationship between management and workers.

$cope of the study
The study is being conducted at Parisons liberty. This study tells us an
overall view oI organization and Iunctions carried out by diIIerent departments like
production, marketing, human resource, sales and Iinance departments. The study
based on the relevant data and materials given Irom the organizations.
Limitations of the study
Time limitations oI the study.
Since the oIIicials were busy, it was diIIicult to spare time with them Ior
detailed discussion.
ack oI experience oI the researcher is a limiting Iactor oI the study.

INDU$TRY PROFILE
The Iood industry has given us a Iood supply so plentiIul, so varied, so
inexpensive, and so devoid oI dependence on geography or season that all but the
very poorest oI Americans can obtain enough energy and nutrients to meet
biological needs. Indeed, the U.S. Iood supply is so abundant that it contains enough
to Ieed everyone in the country nearly twice overeven aIter exports is considered.
The overly abundant Iood supply, combined with a society so aIIluent that most
people can aIIord to buy more Iood than they need, sets the stage Ior competition.
The Iood industry must compete Iiercely Ior every dollar spent on Iood, and Iood
companies expend extraordinary resources to develop and market products that will
sell, regardless oI their eIIect on nutritional status or waistlines. To satisIy
stockholders, Iood companies must convince people to eat more oI their products or
to eat their products instead oI those oI competitors. They do so through advertising
and public relations, oI course, but also by working tirelessly to convince
government oIIicials, nutrition proIessionals, and the media that their products
promote healthor at least do no harm. Much oI this work is a virtually invisible
part oI contemporary culture that attracts only occasional notice.
$ocietal attachments
The ways in which Iood companies use political processesentirely
conventional and nearly always legalto obtain government and proIessional
support Ior the sale oI their products. Its twoIold purpose is to illuminate the extent
to which the Iood industry determines what people eat and to generate much wider
discussion oI the Iood industry's marketing methods and use oI the political system.
World wide research
Past 25 years, the nutrition had Iound that Iood industry practices are
discussed only rarely. The reasons Ior this omission are not diIIicult to understand.
Most oI us believe that we choose Ioods Ior reasons oI personal taste, convenience,
and cost; we deny that we can be manipulated by advertising or other marketing
practices. Nutrition scientists and practitioners typically believe that Iood companies
are genuinely interested in improving health. They think it makes sense to work with
the industry to help people improve their diets, and most are outraged by suggestions

that Iood industry sponsorship oI research or programs might inIluence what they do
or say. Most Iood company oIIicials maintain that any Iood product can be included
in a balanced, varied, and moderate diet; they say that their companies are helping to
promote good health when they Iund the activities oI nutrition proIessionals. Most
oIIicials oI Iederal agriculture and health agencies understand that their units are
headed by political appointees whose concerns reIlect those oI the political party in
power and whose actions must be acceptable to Congress.
In this political system, the actions oI Iood companies are normal, legal, and
thoroughly analogous to the workings oI any other major industrytobacco, Ior
examplein inIluencing health experts, Iederal agencies, and Congress. Promoting
Iood raises more complicated issues than promoting tobacco, however, in that Iood
is required Ior liIe and causes problems only when consumed inappropriately. As
this book will demonstrate, the primary mission oI Iood companies, like that oI
tobacco companies, is to sell products. Food companies are not health or social
service agencies, and nutrition becomes a Iactor in corporate thinking only when it
can help sell Iood. The ethical choices involved in such thinking are considered all
too rarely.
Early in the twentieth century, when the principal causes oI death and
disability among Americans were inIectious diseases related in part to inadequate
intake oI calories and nutrients, the goals oI health oIIicials, nutritionists, and the
Iood industry were identicalto encourage people to eat more oI all kinds oI Iood.
We obtained access to Ioods oI greater variety, our diets improved, and nutrient
deIiciencies gradually declined. The principal nutritional problems among
Americans shiIted to those oI over nutritioneating too much Iood or too much oI
certain kinds oI Iood. Overeating causes its own set oI health problems; it deranges
metabolism, makes people overweight, and increases the likelihood oI "chronic"
diseasescoronary heart disease, certain cancers, diabetes, hypertension, stroke,
and othersthat now are leading causes oI illness and death in any overIed
population.
Now a day`s Iood Industry has a wide range scope. Many countries use rice
and rice products. In India rice production Industries are using various technical
methods Ior large scale production. In India most oI the states are using rice. In

erala main Iood is rice and rice products. There are several Iirms situated in the
Industrial production oI rice and rice products. In erala, most oI the customers can
preIer rice with retain all the nutritious Iactors. These Industries make large scale
production to the customers at wide
With a production reaching ten times in past Iive years, India is today the
second largest wheat producer in the whole world. Various studies and researches
show that wheat and wheat Ilour play an increasingly important role in the
management oI India`s Iood economy. Wheat production is about 70 million tonnes
per year in India and counts Ior approximately 12 per cent oI world production.
Being the second largest in population, it is also the second largest in wheat
consumption aIter China, with a huge and growing wheat demand.

History and Origin of Wheat
Wheat is grown on more land area worldwide than any other crop and is a close
third to rice and corn in total world production. Wheat is well adapted to harsh
environments and is mostly grown on wind swept areas that are too dry and too cold

Ior the more tropically inclined rice and corn, which do best at intermediate
temperature levels.
Wheat is believed to have originated in south-western Asia. Some oI the earliest
remains oI the crop have been Iound in Syria, Jordan, and Turkey. Primitive
relatives oI present day wheat have been discovered in some oI the oldest
excavations oI the world in eastern Iraq, which date back 9,000 years. Other
archaeological Iindings show that bread wheat was grown in the Nile Valley about
5,000 B.C. as well as in India, China, and even England at about the same time.
Wheat was Iirst grown in the United States in 1602 on an island oII the
Massachusetts coast. Man has depended upon the wheat plant Ior himselI and his
beasts Ior thousands oI years. A global wheat Iailure would be a disaster that Iew
nations could survive Ior even one year.
Although the so-called bread wheat are common to most oI us, there are many
uncertainly related species that make up the genus %79.:2. This likely was due to a
number oI natural crossings with wild species during its early evolvement. Some oI
the species closely related to our common wheat would be einkorn, emmer, durum,
and spelt.
Predominant Growing Areas for Wheat
In 2000, world wheat production was approximately 21 billion bushels. This was
grown on approximately 520 million acres. About 36 percent oI the world
production is in Asia with about 17 percent in Europe Union countries and 16
percent in North America. World leaders in order oI wheat production are the China,
India, United States, France, and Russia. Marked increases in wheat production in
China and India since the early 1960's is one oI the greatest success stories oI
modern agriculture.
The United States grew just over 62 million acres oI wheat in 2000 with an
average yield oI 41.9 bushels per acre. The top states in acreage grown are ansas,
North Dakota, Montana, Oklahoma, and Washington. Other leading producers are
Texas, Colorado, Nebraska, South Dakota and Minnesota.
About 70 percent oI the wheat planted in the United States is winter wheat (Iall
seeded). OI the remaining wheat acreage, 24 percent is planted to spring wheat
(spring seeded) and 6 percent to durum (spring seeded). Although Iive major classes

oI wheat are grown in the United States, the two major wheat are hard red spring
and hard red winter, and both are bread wheat. Iowa is a very minor producer,
having only 20,000 acres in 2000, compared with 500,000 acres in 1910. A major
processing plant Ior making pasta products Irom durum wheat is located in Ames,
Iowa.
Uses of Wheat
Although useIul as a livestock Ieed, wheat is used mainly as a human Iood. It is
nutritious, concentrated, easily stored and transported, and easily processed into
various types oI Iood.
Unlike any other plant derived Iood, wheat contains gluten protein, which
enables a leavened dough to rise by Iorming minute gas cells that hold carbon
dioxide during Iermentation. This process produces light textured bread.
Wheat supplies about 20 percent oI the Iood calories Ior the world's people and
is a national staple in many countries. In Eastern Europe and Russia, over 30 percent
oI the calories consumed come Irom wheat. The per capita consumption oI wheat in
the United States exceeds that oI any other single Iood staple. Besides being a high
carbohydrate Iood, wheat contains valuable protein, minerals, and vitamins. Wheat
protein, when balanced by other Ioods that supply certain amino acids such as
lysine, is an eIIicient source oI protein.
Various classes oI wheat are used Ior diIIerent purposes. The major classes used
Ior bread in the United States are hard red spring and hard red winter. These are the
major wheat grown in the Great Plains oI the United States. The dominant hard red
spring wheat states are North Dakota, Montana, Minnesota, and South Dakota. The
major hard red winter producing states are ansas, Oklahoma, Texas, Colorado, and
Nebraska. In recent years, some production oI hard white wheat has begun in the
hard red winter region. These wheat are oI higher quality than red wheat, but have
been prone to pre harvest sprouting. Extensive crop breeding eIIorts have created
modern cultivars that are less susceptible to sprouting than those available in the
past.
