INTRODUCTION

In our present time, computers are almost always used in every aspect oI our
daily lives. They are used in banks, department stores, businesses and schools Ior handling
transactions. UnIortunately, there are still some who are practicing the conventional method
oI processing data in every transaction.

Just like in Barangay Dila Santa Rosa, Laguna; they are manually handling the
registration oI their residents, which ends up to not accurately processing the population oI
their barangay that also leads to much bigger problems. So, having an automated registration
in the said barangay will help solve majority oI the problems.

Background of the Study

This study is about a development oI an automated and user-Iriendly but,
secured registration system. The researcher noticed the lack oI system in their barangay when
it comes to releasing barangay clearances and .0/:,; and lack oI medical services Ior the
residents. So, the researcher developed a program that will systemize the registration in
Barangay Dila City oI Santa Rosa, Laguna.

2

The legal-aged residents will be asked to Iill up a Iorm with their Name, Age, Civil
Status, Complete Address, Height, Weight, Permanent Contact Number, E-mail address,
Name oI his Mother, Name oI his Father and Name oI his Siblings. Every resident will also
be taken a photo to complete the registration. The encoder will encode the inIormation in the
system, and then browse Ior the resident`s picture then save it to the resident`s proIile.

The researcher decided to put up a picture in the system so that iI a resident will ask
Ior a barangay clearance or .0/:,the barangay oIIicial or secretary will just simply type in
to the system the name oI the resident and the system will automatically go to the resident`s
proIile with picture. In that way the barangay oIIicial or secretary will be sure that he will
give the said clearance to the right person and to a real resident oI the barangay.

Significance of the Study

This developmental study is important because the system program can help the
barangay be advanced and make the residents` registration be Iast and accurate.

3
The barangay oIIicials can make sure that they are giving their services only to the
residents oI their barangay. It can make the residents maximize their beneIits like protection,
Iree check-ups especially Ior children and expectant mothers, Iree medicines and seminars.

When it comes to blotters or assaults, the barangay oIIicial need not to encode it
manually which is not ideal because the accused people can just steal it or do something to
get it or get rid oI it. But iI he will use the program, he will just type in the accused name and
type in the accusation in the Notes. So that, the barangay oIIicials will know who should they
and should they not hand any clearance to.

General Objective
Develop a user-Iriendly system that will make an automated registration Ior the
barangay.

Primary Objectives
1. Provide an area in the system that can make the encoder put all the necessary
inIormation about the resident.
2. Stop the too lenient system in the barangay hall.
3. Help the residents maximize their beneIits.

4
Time and Place
The developmental study was made Irom September 12, 2011 September 19, 2011;
in Golden City subdivision Barangay Dila City oI Santa Rosa, Laguna.

REVIEW OF RELATED LITERATURE

Our service clients who deserved a more responsive and dynamic local government
agency aimed at taking steps towards a successIul transIormation to the emerging I.T.

geared towards modernization; Providing quality Civil Registration Services now, and in the
years to come.

Josephine Camata, city civil registration oIIicer, said the computerized barangay
database shall contain all the records oI residents including their name, address, place and
date oI birth, sex, civil status, citizenship, occupation and other pertinent inIormation in one

"As a standardized data base is built in every barangay through Barangay Operations
and Monitoring System (BOMS), processing time oI transactions is expected to speed up,
thus minimizing waiting time Ior clients," Binay said.

The mayor added that the system is designed to generate timely reports, statistics, or
any requested document, including Barangay Clearance, Voter's List, Residents' ProIile, and
List oI Business Establishments.

Upgrading the computer inIormation system is not an option in this technology-driven
era; it is a requirement. Companies that use an up-to-date inIormation system to gather,
assimilate, and evaluate internal as well as external inIormation are gaining competitive
advantage over other Iirms. Management is quicker to cater to customer`s needs and
complaints. With the growth oI communication networks, there are almost no barriers
between the Iirm`s management, employees, customers and suppliers. Networked computing
systems have made new modes oI work possible.

METHODOLOGY

The subject oI this study is a development oI a secured and user-Iriendly
system program that can be used Ior the resident`s registration at Barangay Dila Santa
Rosa Laguna`s Barangay Hall. The system will be made using MicrosoIt Visual Basic
as its Programming Language and MicrosoIt Access as its library. The system is all
about compiling all the necessary data oI every legal aged resident oI the said
barangay into a single library using a system program.

Materials
Computer installed with MicrosoIt Visual Basic and MicrosoIt access
Paper
Pen

Methods
Ask the baranggay hall secretary what inIormation they need in the registration
system.
Make a program using Visual Basic, and MicrosoIt Access as its library. A program
that will let the user record their Name, Age, Civil Status, Complete Address, Height,
Weight, Permanent Contact Number, E-mail address, Name oI his Mother, Name oI his
8
Father, Name oI his Siblings and picture in a single proIile. On the bottom part oI the
resident`s proIile, there will be 'Records where the encoder can type in other inIormation
about the resident.

Image A: Log-In Page
Image is the Log-In page where in the encoder will type in his user name and
password to enter the system. Below, is a command button that will lead to a message box
that can allow the encoder to change the user name and password.

Image B: Change Password Message Box
In this message box, the encoder must type in the new user name and password he
desires and must type in the recent password Ior security then click the command button ok`
below.

Image C: Wrong Input Message box
This message box will appear once that either one oI the password or the username is
incorrect; or both. II the encoder typed incorrectly Ior three times, the system will no longer
accept any user-name or password within 24-hours.

Image D: Password Accepted Message Box
This message box will show iI the recent username and password is correct. The
system will ask the encoder to log-in again. He will just simply need to click the background
then input.

Image E: Search/Register Page
On this page, the encoder must type in any part oI the name oI the person; then he can
either register it by clicking the register` command button above the text box, or he can
search Ior it by clicking the search` command button above the text box as well.
15
Image F: Search Result Page
This page will show iI the encoder clicked the search` command button on the
previous page. This will show all the hyperlinks to the proIiles oI those who have the same
name to what the encoder typed. A small image, name, and account number will also be
shown in this page Ior easier browsing.

Image G: First Data Page
The encoder will go to this page once he click the Register` button on the Image D.
Whatever name the encoder typed in the Image D, it will automatically be on the text box
beside the Name`. The encoder must simply type in all the necessary inIormation asked then
click next. Or can go back to search Ior someone by clicking back`.

These are what the proIiles will look like. The names oI the Iamily members are
hyperlinks that will go to their proIiles. This is made Ior easier browsing and navigation. At
the leIt side, there is an add new` command button, this button will go to Image E; then there
is, the update` iI ever something has to be changed in the resident`s inIormation; there is also
the log-out button and the make a record` button; once, that the resident had a record oI
violence, the encoder will just have to search Ior the resident`s proIile then click the make a
record` button.

Image L: Record Page
Once that the make a record button is clicked, this page will appear. The encoder will
just have to type all the assaults or whatever violence that the person did then click
UPDATE` so that it will be saved in the library.
