The Christmas spirit arrived a little early at Brampton as part of Year 4s work on stories set in an imaginary world. A pantomime of the Peter Pan story was booked for the school to see. I know many parents wanted to come as well! Year 4 enriched their understanding of what happens when in a typical imaginary world story by continuing work back in the classroom, creating storyboards of the pantomime plot. They have also used it as a stimulus to write their own stories this week. The children enjoyed the usual participation in the story. Many thanks to Miss Carter and Miss Hope for organising this and to parents who made a donation to cover the cost.

Brampton Primary is a restorative school where the initial response to conflict is to find a solution where things are put right, the victims needs are met whilst also meeting the needs of the wrong doer and meet all the schools responsibilities.

Recent data analysis of attendance from Bexley shows that at Brampton in last years Year 6 we had no pupils with attendance below 80% and 44% with attendance between 95%100%. In English, Reading, Writing, Maths and Science, our highest attending pupils outperformed the average attainment in Bexley. Again this re-enforces our drive to ensure the importance of high attendance and how this will aid the progress made by our pupils to reach the highest standards. Well done to last years Year 6 and their parents for supporting this aim. For the best chances of success pupils need to have good attendance of between 190180 days or 100%95%. Did you know that missing 5 days of every term every year is the same as missing half a school year! Remember a child with a good attendance record is setting themselves up for a better future. We aim to provide exciting, challenging opportunities that will make children want to attend Brampton Primary!

Thank you Minimising Infections in School The Health Protection Agency has published Guidance on Infection Control in Schools available from www.hpa.org.uk. It details how long children should be kept at home after suffering an illness. For example after diarrhoea or vomiting illness they should be kept at home 48 hours from the last episode of diarrhoea or vomiting. Its well known that coughing and sneezing can spread infections and children should be shown how to cover their mouth and nose with a tissue and wash their hands afterwards. FOB News Many thanks to FOB for donating a number of Netbooks to school. This had been their focus in fund raising last year. They are currently in use in all the junior classes and the children love using them. They are connected to the internet and have been used to provide a different way of working for children who need stretching as well as supporting others to see things in a visual way. FOB are now fund raising for new Infant reading books.
