Go to a ski area or ice-skating rink. 3. Bake cookies together! Check our Somethings Cooking page! 4. Have a sleepover together! 5. Plan a Christmas party! 6. Make gifts for your friends and family. Love. This issue's theme is love. God showed us tremendous love for us. Think about this: "You're the unpopular girl, and the popular girl is always being mean to you. You see that, while she's crossing the road, there is a car coming towards her, very fast. Without hesitating, you run into the road, and push her forward so that you receive the blow instead of her. The car stopped just in time, but the girl barely acknowledged her heroic deed. Would you do the same thing as the unpopular girl if you were in her shoes? I think most of us would say no. She was the one who was mean to you, didnt she deserve to be hit by a car?? It was only fair! God loves you so much that he gave his one and only son, Jesus for us. Jesus loves you so much that he voluntarily died on the cross for you. Yet, a lot of people don't acknowledge that he died for us. Reading that story there, you may have thought "How mean for the popular girl to ignore the unpopular girl!! She could have died!" But sometimes we are doing the same thing to Jesus. Think about it. How could we ever have his love and grace? No one can have his perfect love, but there are many ways to have higher love. Make a list of at least ten things that you can improve - in love!

Sarah: How did you find out about iShine?

Caroline Grace By Sarah K.

The first thing you see when you meet Caroline is her radiant smile which reflects her heart for the Lord. Lets dance into her life and read about this newest member of the iShine team whose passion and energy for the Lord will encourage you to go farther and deeper in your faith. Sarah: What is your favorite thing about being on iShine? Caroline Grace: I really enjoy the fellowship and the community of it all. I really enjoy getting to ride up together in the van and the bonding time and just the spiritual moments that we have together. For example, before our last show, Alexis, Olivia, and I just had a time of prayer and worship. We walked around the auditorium and just prayed over every seat that God could touch the people who were going be here tonight and really speak to them. Whether that means using us or using our songs, He could just use us for His purpose, and the little moments like that are my favorite. Caroline Grace: I knew about iShine when it first began actually because my friends sister was a dancer on it. Ever since it began, I was very fascinated by it because I loved the whole mission from the positive and uplifting music to kids with a Christian perspective because I feel like it sometimes it is not given to children nowadays. So, I first heard about it through a friend, and I loved it since I heard it. Sarah: What is your favorite Bible verse? Caroline Grace: My favorite Bible verse is Philippians 4:13 because it says: I can do all things through Christ who gives me strength. No matter what I am doing, in every situation, I can always count on that verse to help me. Even from taking a test to running. I hate running. But if I say that verse, I know it can get me through things. Sarah: What has God been showing you in your Bible and prayer time? Caroline Grace: Lately in my prayer time and my Bible time, my best friends father just passed away, and I feel like He has really been telling me to be a friend to her and reach out to her and help her find Jesus because her and her family are not followers. I feel like lately He has been calling me to be a friend to them and to pray with them and to show that now that her father has passed away, he is in Heaven, and that he is looking over them and that he would want the best for them, and he would want for them to become followers of Jesus. So I feel that thats what Hes telling me. Sarah: What do you like to do besides singing and acting? Caroline Grace: Besides singing and acting I like to dance and tumble. I love cake decorating. It is so much fun and I love baking. Anytime Im ever stressed I always bake so I bake everyday basically. Im always baking things and giving them to my friends. My friends always joke because everyday I come into school with either a cake or cupcakes or muffins or cookies. My friends ask What did you make this time, Caroline? .Sarah: What is your testimony? Caroline Grace: Well, I grew up in a Christian home and I went to church every Sunday because I thought that that was a normal thing to do thats what my parents did thats what my whole family did. I thought that learning Bible verses and the catechism was all that you needed to be a Christian.

Design by Anika H.

I thought that thats what a Christian was. I didnt realize that it is so much more and I didnt realize having a relationship with Christ was part of being a Christian. I realized this when I was first starting to travel and perform. I prayed to the Lord that He would just help me grow in my relationship with Him and that I could become closer to Him over time through prayer and through my performance and mission of what I was doing. Ever since that happened that night its just been a really great journey. Sarah: What is it like to be on iShine Knect? Caroline Grace: iShine Knect was so much fun. I felt like I was on Disney Channel or Hannah Montana. Just like I said about the tour it was also just a great time of community and fellowship. Wed shoot from 9 to 5 and then wed go swimming or wed go shopping. It was a lot of fun. Sarah: What was your reaction when you heard you were on iShine? Caroline Grace: When I found out that I was on iShine. I remember I was pretty excited because Ive always loved singing and acting and I was just excited that I would get to do what I loved and also share Gods mission. Sarah: You sang some new songs at the iShine concert. Are they recorded and available yet? Caroline Grace: They are recorded. I dont know if they are available yet. I know that one of them that I sang on there called You Shake up My World is actually going to be on iShine Knect. Its really fun Ckenzi and I write a song together. Well, in the beginning of the episode we get in a fight and then we resolve it by writing this song together and thats the first song. But I dont know when it will be available. When I find out Ill let you know. Sarah: How would you describe yourself? Caroline Grace: I would describe myself as very energetic, diligent I like to get things done, and I guess funny. I think Im funny. I dont know if anybody else does. I like to crack a lot of jokes and always be the class clown making everybody smile. Sarah: Did you know The Rubyz before you joined iShine? Caroline Grace: I did know The Rubyz before I joined iShine. I had met them a couple times before where we had come to see them perform. I was always good friends with Mission Six and so if they ever had a show in town I would go to see them and often they do shows with The Rubyz. I kind of met them mutually through Mission Six. Sarah: What are your dreams for the future? Do you want to continue singing? Caroline Grace: For the future Im not really sure what I want to do. I definitely want to continue singing and I know thats something I want to continue to do along with ministry just because Im so passionate about it. I want to be somewhere in between a Broadway dancer to singer to worship leader to doctor, so once I find a good combination Ill let you know. Sarah: What is your favorite place you have gone to on the iShine tour so far? Caroline Grace: I think my favorite place that Ive gone to on the iShine tour was to Oklahoma because first of all we drove from Florida to Oklahoma so that was a 17 hour drive all of us packed in a 15 passenger van. It was so much fun because we had nothing to do. There was no internet and we could read but then wed all get carsick. So we just had some time to talk with each other and really connect. When we got to Oklahoma it was just a lot of fun. The church that put it on was a community of churches so it was great to see a community come together and all sponsor this show.

Dear GFG: My friends are always leaving me out. They say we're friends, but I don't think we are anymore. What can I do to resume our friendship?

Have any questions? Well answer anything! Email us at gfgmagazine@gmail.com

Try inviting your friends over for a girls time, or an after school snack. Try to start a conversation, and ask them if they want to play a game. If they continue to leave you out, try to make some new friends. maybe a more lonely kid. You'll never know, they could end up being your new best friend!

I know how you feel! I would just say to take a break from them and hang with somebody new for a while:) That is what I did when my friends were causing drama and I got sick of drama, so I hung out with new friends. Then, when I went back to hang out with my other friends, we all got along with no drama. It just takes time. Good luck, and God bless!!

Friendship is like marriage, if you don't spend time together then it will fall apart. Try and invite them to a concert or go shopping! If they don't accept, don't waste tickets and invite a close family member! It works for me!

DO NOT cut off the top. 5. Cut 2 triangles in the top. 6. Glue either side of the pennant, and put them together. 7. Leave an unglued slot at the top of the pennant, you will slide your pencil through it. Try starting a new "pennant fad"!

Devotions
As girls, its natural for everyone to want to be beautiful. Often, celebrities are becoming our role model. Often our minds are filled with I wish I could look like her! or thinking youre fat and ugly. God doesnt like it when we think bad of ourselves, because He made us, and He LOVES us! Yes, even if we arent as beautiful as you would love to be, it doesnt matter to God. You dont have to worry about getting your hair just right or worrying about your chipped nails. Check out this scripture:

1 Peter 3:3-4
Your beauty should not come from outward adornment, such as braided hair and the wearing of gold jewelry and fine clothes. Instead, it should be that of your inner self, the unfading beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is of great worth in Gods sight.

Hear that? ...should not come from outward adornment Your beauty shouldnt come from yourt says that outward adornment doesnt really count in the eyes of God! It says you shouldnt be worrying about your hair, your jewelry, or clothes! Instead, it should be that of your inner self That means whats inside you, your thoughts and actions. Your beauty should come from inside you. ...unfading beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit Which means, if you have a gentle and quiet spirit, youll have unfading beauty in your heart! ..great worth in Gods sight. That unfading beauty is of great worth in Gods sight! He loves it when you have a gentle and quiet spirit! Its the inner beauty that counts!

Continuation of last issues story!

Fresh Air featuring... T

I jumped off the bed. I ran to the window and shut the curtains. My heart was beating quickly. I didnt want to leave. The world scared me. My room was small. My room was neat. My room was safe. Something bad would happen if I left the room. Something awful would happen. I sank to the ground. My mind buzzed with thoughts. If I left my room for even a moment, something would be stolen. Someone would steal my books. Someone would steal my things. I had to watch. I had to make sure that no one stole my things. A thought came to me. I may have missed a book when I was counting. I counted 48. Were there only 47 books on my bookshelf? Perhaps, if I straightened my room and checked the bookshelf, no one would steal my things. I shook. I stood. There was another knock at the door. Anna Bell Baby? It was my father. I got back on my bed. I was careful not to rustle the sheets. Yes? He opened the door. He stuck his little, bald head through the crack. Hey, I was just wondering if you were okay. Im fine. I couldnt help myself. I looked to the northeast corner of my room. Maybe someone stole my sanitizing wipes. How could I straighten my room without my wipes? Mom tells me that you dont want to come down for lunch. He looked worried. He looked sad. I didnt want to make him unhappy. Ill come down. I counted two brooms, three Febreze bottles, two dustpans, four packages of sanitary wipes, and four feather dusters. Youre sure, Baby? My father leaned forward to look me in the eyes. I had to look around him. I had to count my cleaning supplies. Ill be down once I finish counting my things. I turned to count my books. Suddenly, I wondered if I had miscounted. Did I count two Febreze bottles, or three? I couldnt protect myself against a thief unless I had all three Febreze bottles. You count everything you own at least five times a day. Father sat on my bed. He displaced the sheets. He put his arm on my shoulders. Why do you need to count your things now? I brushed him off my shoulders and smoothed my blanket. I dont know, I said. Anna, things have been getting worse. I kept counting. Im worried about you. I kept counting. Please, Anna, look at me. He took hold of my chin. He forced me to meet his eyes. I couldnt count if I was looking at him. I had to get away. I slapped him. Anna Bell! he shouted. I burst into tears. Im so sorry. I didnt mean to hurt you. Oh, I am so sorry. What had I done? There was blood on his cheek from my nails. I think that Im going to talk to your mother. Im so sorry. Im so sorry. I am so sorry Stay here until we come back. Please, forgive me. Im so sorry Its okay, Anna. Im fine. Im sorry. Im so sorry He left my room. Im sorry. Im sorry. So sorry That day did not go well. My father told Mother. My mother scolded me. She is just as scared as I am. She called the doctor. He said that I had an obsessive compulsion disorder. I was terrified. The sun went down. The moon came up. I stayed in my room. I sat at the foot of my bed. I crossed my legs. I counted my things to calm myself down. I brushed my hair. I swept my bathroom floor. If I made sure my room was clean, no one would be able to break in and steal my things. Tears still ran down my cheeks. I wished I could leave. I wished I could be free.

Trapped by Stefany B.
My window flew open. My heart skipped a beat. I couldnt see anything. The curtains were still closed. Was it someone who had come to steal my books? Had they come to steal my cleaning supplies? Two hands poked out of the curtains. They pulled them back. I saw a little boy. He was about my height. He had messy, brown hair. He had dirty clothes. He wasnt wearing shoes. Hi there! he bellowed. He waved at me and sat on my sill. My heart was still beating quickly. Um, hi? What did he want? He cocked his round head. He swung his feet. Im Sir Archferdinando Dukenheimer III, and who are you, Miss? I was still frozen with fear. My name is Anna. Hello, Anna. Do you mind if I step in? I wanted to say, no. I didnt know this Sir Archferdin Dukheim boy. He would probably want to take my books. He was already getting my window dirty, but for some reason, I wanted to let him in. I dont mind, I croaked. The boy jumped down from the window. He hopped to the foot of my bed. He leaned against the post. So, he said, how can Sir Archferdinando Dukenheimer III be of assistance? My head was spinning. Sir Archferdinando Dukenheimer? The Third, he said proudly. What kind of name is that? I blurted. A long one. He twirled around the bed post. My friends call me Archie. Its a lot shorter. Oh. I didnt know what to say. I checked the bookshelf. I made sure he hadnt swiped something. So what did you call me for? he asked. I wrinkled my forehead. Call you for? Certainly. He kept twirling around the post. I didnt call you. Sure you did. Archie leaned forward. His eyes twinkled. Unless this is like the time my friends tricked me into traipsing off to go help someone when they wanted to get rid of me. I think that they find me annoying. Big Red tells me that I talk too much. Im sorry if I get on your nerves. Its just that, I find it hard to stop talking when there are so many good things to say. Did I tell you I like lima beans? I couldnt help laughing. The kid was hysterical. There! He leaned back and poked his finger at my chest. I knew Id get a chuckle out of you. Where did you come from? I asked. The real question is how you can live in this room. He marched around my room like a soldier. He scowled at my things. Its atrocious! It is not, I protested. Everything is in order. Thats precisely the problem. Archie stared at my cleaning supplies. You keep sanitary wipes and two brooms in your room instead of toys? He sounded shocked. How else am I supposed to keep my room clean? Listen, Anna, I know youre scared about someone taking your stuff and all, but How did you know that I worry about someone taking my things? His eyes twinkled again. I know a lot of things. Archie jumped back on the window sill. He bowed formally and waved. I have to go now, but Ill be back. I got down from the bed. Do you have to go? Im afraid I must. My friend Rosie is making pumpkin bread tonight. Ill have to bring you a piece next time. He reached down and rustled my hair. I didnt fix it. Goodbye then, I said. I didnt want him to go. Dont be so sad. Ill be back. I nodded. Okay. He turned to jump out the window. See ya, Anna, he told me. I knew you needed my help. I smiled as he disappeared from my room. I was still smiling as I dusted the windowsill. I even hummed a happy tune as I fell asleep.

Money Makers
Lemonade _______Stand
The lemonade stand is so common that you might not get much money. Why not do something more creative? You fill in the blank! Since it's winter right now, selling lemonade would be a little weird. Instead, try one (or more) of these ideas: Warm apple cider Coffee Doughnuts Snack bags Cookies Brownies Hot Chocolate OR Who says it doesn't have to be a food item?? You could sell... Handmade jewelry (Since a lot of new jewelry is usually slightly pricy, try making it yourself! It should be a big hit, especially if you sell it $1 and under! Artwork (Are you good at drawing!? If you're REALLY good, try a hand at portraits!) Here are some tips: Location! -Do you get a lot of people passing by where you plan to do your stand? If not, you might need to move it. Make a sign - color it brightly! Make extra! You never know Make a variety - If you do something like cookies, make different kinds. Someone might be allergic to the base ingredient in the one but not the other cookie! Price it cheap! - you don't want to lose customers, do you? Keep Change - put your change in a easy-to-reach place. Your customers might need change! Good luck!

For the love of all

There once was a small city in Rome, about two hundred miles east of the river called Dytise. There were many shops, but the one most loved by the people was the cloth shop. These townspeople depended upon this shop. For in Rome, you could tell the status of a man, or woman, by the color and shade of the color on his toga, the darker the purple, the higher the authority and office. The lighter the purple, if not a different color, you were considered quite young, and had yet to learn much. In the shop lived a woman named Delilah. She was the daughter of the previous owners of the cloth shop, and was famous for her temper. Delilah had electric blue eyes, that when provoked could almost crackle with anger. She had her fathers strange hair, a red-brown that was very uncommon. In fact, no one else in the entire city of Dytise had that color. She loved her mother and father and had grieved them when they passed away, but was determined to carry on and do their shop good. She also had a sister that visited from time to time, Shelia, she was very calm and quite the opposite of Delilah. One day a tall, dark stranger walked into Delilahs shop. He looked in through the tan door with interest and when he saw Delilah he smiled, making crows feet at the corner of his blue-green eyes. He must have been around thirty or forty years of age. His long tunic swished and his sandals made a comforting thud, as he walked across the wood floor, a luxury back then. He looked at Delilah for a moment and asked her, in a deep voice that seemed to come from his stomach, Hello, I am Denuis Promtis; would you consider selling the shop? I have come into this city to start a small inn, and this has about the right size. I would be willing to offer you 400denarius Enough! Delilahs face turned red, and those eyes already crackled, paying no heed to her customers, who, only a moment ago, had been peacefully browsing. For the love of all cloth! Why would I sell to you, a stranger I hardly know?! The man looked confused and slightly flustered. Well, I have some letters of recommend Letters! What good is paper in the end I ask you sir? This shop is my pride and joy! My lively hood! Give me on good reason to sell! Delilah's arms gestured wildly about her, as she got more and more upset. Well Dont speak unless I ask you a question! And to answer your earlier question, when Demeter no longer brings spring and Zeus no longer makes the heavens thunder, then I will sell! Good day sir! She whirled around, her hair flying like a curtain of rage, and her new red cloak giving quite the dramatic effect. As she walked through the silver curtain that separated the store from the house, she tried to calm herself down. Who does this man think he is? she muttered, her eyes flashing once more. The official, still standing there asked one of the women chuckling, and smiling with understanding at him, Did I not ask correctly? Was it too small of an offer? No, the grey haired woman said, shaking her head. Delilah has always been that way. This shop

cloth! By Kendra S.
has been in the Krotopis family for generations, and she would rather burn than sell the shop. Thank you, and please tell Miss Delilah that I meant no offense when you see her next. Good day. He walked out of the shop, with drooped shoulders. And never returned.

A few days later, Delilahs sister Shelia came to visit and to help run the shop for awhile. Shelia had light brown hair, and hazel eyes, she was always the one to smile and keep everyone happy. They greeted each other with warmth and affection and peppered each other with many questions. When they got to the shop Shelia at once trotted up the hardwood stairs up to the guest room, it was decorated with all shades of purple and blue. Her favorite painting, a lamb in a meadow hung on the wall near the bed. She began to put her things away, smiling and laughing the whole while. Shelia talked for an hour before they went to bed, but not before her sister told her how glad she was to be home for awhile. Delilah grinned, for the first time in ages it felt like, and realized that maybe; just maybe her life would be turning around.

At dawn the two sisters opened the shop, and in a rush put out the bolts of new cloth, and opened the doors, with the bell attached tinkling as they did so. The first customer in was the blacksmiths wife. She walked up to the counter and with her blue eyes twinkling and her face all lit up, she said to Shelia I need a nice new toga wrap for Jasin, he will be going to the larger cities soon and I want him to look nice, but I cant spend more than fifty denarius. Her own cloak was worn and almost had holes in the side. They were happy, but their funds were low until Jasin was able to employ himself for a short time in the city. Her hair was clean though, and she smelled of lavender. You know the type, the perfect grandmother, whom everyone wants to please, and help. If you can give me one moment, I can find you a fabric that we have been wanting to sell to the younger couples. But they dont like the darker colors. Let me find it for you. Shelia smiled as she dragged Delilah from the counter into the storeroom to find the cloth. Shelia! Delilah said, There is no such cloth! All we have is the new fabric with the silk trimming Oh! I see now! her face softened, and the agitation melted away. She smiled with memories of meals when her father had passed away. She again grinned and started to help look for it. They talked as they looked. For the love of cloth, Shelia, I dont know what I was thinking. They were very kind when Mother passed away... Lets give her twice as much as she asks for so that she can make on for her own later. She wont know until she gets home. The two sisters smiled and gave her the expensive fabric, worth one-hundred denarius, for one quarter the amount. Delilah had heard people saying how glad they were that Delilah finally seemed happy, and treating others kindly. She glowed and resolved to stay that way.
