Garden irrigation
The right place for garden irrigation How to Water Your Garden
by HOSTMEI R on DECEMBER 10, 2011

www.lowes.com 5 Tips for Watering Your Garden: 1. Choose drought tolerant plants to save time and water. Look for the WaterWise label in Lowes stores to find plants that require less watering. 2. Choose the right tools for the job. A watering can is good for a few small plants. For more extensive watering, a watering line allows you to gently water in planters and gardens. A watering line also allows you to turn off the water easily to conserve water. Third, you can use a sprinkler system with a timer to cut back on your watering. You can also connect a drip irrigation sprinkler nozzle system to your hose that distributes water directly to the roots. Similar to the drip system is a soaker hose. The hose sweats out water at the ground level, hydrating the roots. 3. Adding peat moss or compost to your soil to retain moisture. 4. Mulch your entire garden to help stop evaporation. 5. Collect your own water by installing a rain barrel under your gutter or near your eaves. Find more information about watering your garden at www.lowes.com Video Rating: 5 / 5 Question by lilsmartgrl001: What is the irrigation water receptacle in the Horta Labyrinth Park? it is in Barcelona, Spain. there are 3 levels. the irrigation water receptacle, romantic garden, and the labyrinth park.^_^ Best answer: Answer by Kansai Teacher On one of the sites I googled I found this: My names Dani and I live in Barcelona. Im working in a Tourist Information Center. My main job is to give all kind of information related to the city. I love this job and I try to help as much as I can the visitor. And this is what he said about Horta Labyrinth Park: The garden is arranged with a graceful Italian touch on three levels, or staggered terraces. On the upper terrace there is a pond that collects the water to irrigate the garden; small domed temples held up by Tuscan columns are found on the middle terrace, and on the lower terrace is the small labyrinth, formed by hedges of trimmed cypresses, which gives the park its name. In fact, this is the most original part of the area.

Another site agreed, saying that the irrigation water receptacle is a pond from which the rest of the gardens are watered. The source of the pond is not disclosed a spring, a stream, a well??? What do you think? Answer below!

{ Comments on this entry are closed } Rain barrel garden watering system
by HOSTMEI R on DECEMBER 9, 2011

My rain barrel system inspired by many other youtubers, I have old barrels that were originally used to store soap. yes they have been cleaned I connected them with pvc and attached a water spout, I leveled the ground with bricks and used two old pieces of ceder to support the barrels, the guttering is attached with a flexible down spout. The second barrel is vented with a very small hole and a peice of screen silicone in place. The timer will fill a dog bowl and water the garden. Video Rating: 5 / 5 Question by jaybirdy: How do I set up a drip irrigation for my garden? What I want is very specific and I have a general set up in mind but the mechanics of it are a little beyond me. I have a garden on a hill that is some way up the yard. We take a hose out and set it up to a drip hose but one area floods and were testing ways to drain it and put this in other parts of the garden but proving almost to no avail. What I would like is a suspended sprinkler system. Some thing that will hook up easily to the hose, water the garden evenly and not waste water. I have a design in mind for the frame work. That I have no problem with. Thinking of using a very basic green house frame. Also, our land lord ran over our last hose and I was thinking that if there was a way I could put a barrel out to catch rain, I could use that instead to water the garden. Not even sure if thats possible but its an idea. Im just wondering really about how to set up hosing along the frame work for the sprinkler system. And if anyone knows about how to use a rain water storage unit to power it with low to no need for wires, hoses, or anything thats going to run from the house, that would be great too. Best answer:

Answer by stuckinthemud i would use a piece of 24 wood and pcv pipe attached to it with the straps made to hold electrical conduit to walls. using pvc ts to make a riser to attach sprinkler heads to. put a cap on one end and a hose connector on the other end. then use a couple smaller pieces of wood connected to each end to keep it from tipping over. the best way to get rain water is from the downspouts of the rain gutters. they can be cut to connect a funnel of sorts to direct the water to buckets or barrels What do you think? Answer below!

Question by Marc: Soil Test Kit for Contaminates Home Garden? I am looking to fix a relatively cheap soil test kit windmill, most likely one that you send out to a lab for results, which will tell me if my soil is safe to plant a vegetable garden in. I have found a bunch of different soil test kits, i.e. PH, moisture, etc. but none for contaminates. Thank you for all of your help in advance ! Best answer: Answer by fluffernut I can only speak from experience which is slightly old now that Im retired. The tests for contaminants is contaminate specific, that is you must specify what contaminant you are looking for and then the appropriate test is made.at a very high cost$ 150 a pop back then. We could not do a broad screen contaminate test..we had to have an idea first. Id suggest you have a typical soil test done by a Laboratory and include micro nutrients such as iron, etc. Contact your Cooperative Extension agent in your county to learn about the soil test process, how to properly gather the soil and how to package and of course, how much $ to include. The agent can also help decide if the soil might have been contaminated. A simple test for herbicides is to gather some soil into two pots. In one grow lawn grass or corn and in the other grow beans. Certain herbicides work on either a monocot or dicot type plant. For example if you cant grow the bean but can grow the corn you know the soil has residual herbicide for dicots.
