Alvear reconstruction with Titanium Mesh

2-days in the medieval city of Parma - Italy Course Content
Lectures
Biological basis and rationale for alveolar reconstruction with titanium mesh Indications and limits of the technique Cases presentation Planning the intervention and preparation to the surgery Flap management for bone augmentation Re-entry surgery and mesh removal

Live Surgery

Abstract
Optimal implant positioning often requires soft and hard tissue augmentation procedures either for functional, esthetic or prognostic reasons. The development of new biomaterials and growth factors bio-molecules has brought to a new youngness the use of titanium mesh for alveolar bone reconstruction. This classic technique is suitable for being used either with the traditional grafting procedures or with non space-making collagen sponge soaked with liquid growth factors. In addition, the advent of CAD-CAM technology in reconstructive surgery planning and stereolitographic models production has made the diagnostic and therapeutical steps simpler and more predictable. The aims of this course are to give a up-to-date oriented overview of the titanium mesh reconstructive technique, from the diagnostics to the soft tissue plastic surgery and mesh removal, with the support of exhaustive lectures, a Live surgery and a Hands-on session. The course is organized for a limited number of participants, grouped in a single class, in order to have the chance to interact during all the phases of the teaching sessions.

Sinus lift procedures

2-days in the enchanting city of Ljubljana - Slovenia Course Content
Lectures
Anatomical and biological basis for the sinus floor elevation Evolution of the surgical techniques Indications and contraindications: how to choose the most appropriate method Surgery step-by-step: providing anesthesia, formation and elevation of the flaps, creation of the bony window and preparation of the implant bed, elevation of the Schneiderian membrane, application of biomaterials, identifying and resolving the intraoperative complications, managing the postoperative period Future trends: minimally invasive techniques, endoscopically assisted sinus-floor surgery

Abstract
The course on sinus floor elevation will provide basic knowledge on anatomy of the maxillary sinus and on adjacent structures. It will give the participant an overview on historical development of different surgical techniques for optimization of bony quality and quantity in the posterior maxilla. Factors influencing the proper patient selection will be presented and discussed as well as indications and contraindications for different techniques. Two main techniques lateral window sinus lift and transalveolar sinus lift will be presented step-by-step and in details. Briefly, modifications of them will also be addressed. Furthermore, most frequent and most serious complications will be illustrated, including tips and tricks to prevent and to resolve them. Course will provide theoretical framework, live surgeries and hands-on exercises. Participants experience in basic oral surgery and implantology is recommended.

From the simplest act to the most complex surgery: how to introduce the piezo in the everyday routine
2-days in the seaside village of Six Fours Les Plages - France Course Content
Lectures
Small oral and periodontal surgery: painless extractions, granulomas debridement , crowns elongations, periodontal treatment Implant surgery: distraction and division of slim crests, bone distraction, positioning of osseo integrated implants, pre-implants drilling Sinus flaps cutting and painless sinus membrane detachment - Jaw bone grafting bone harvesting from ramus, etc. Graft preparation

Abstract
All interventions on the bone tissue have been carried out till now with some rotating instruments to support the surgical round burs, the surgical cylindrical burs or the bone cisels. The ultrasonic surgery or piezo surgery accounts for the introduction of a new equipment of bone surgery aimed at replacing the rotating instruments at short term. This method, which optimizes the safety and reduces the following interventions, has rapidly found its place in the disciplines linked to the bone surgery: from the support to the dental extractions to the advanced techniques of bone grafting and pre-grafting reconstructions. We shall study the principles and the use of that instrument and then, through some slides and videos of our clinical experience, we shall evaluate the advantages coming from the piezo surgery. On Friday afternoon we shall do two live surgeries with the use of piezo surgery. On Saturday the participants will use the piezo surgery on the animal jaw for a dental extraction, some bone graftings (blocs and shavings), a crest expansion, a sinus lift, ect.

Advanced course in periodontal regenerative surgery

2-days in the baroque city of Turin - Italy

Course Content
Lectures
Infrabony defects: ethiology, diagnosis and classification G.T.R. (Guided Tissue Regeneration): clinical application The papilla preservation techniques: biologic rationale and clinical application Graft materials: bone substitutes, biologic mediators and barrier membranes How to manage the bony defect and reach the goal: from the flap design to the suture technique

Abstract
Periodontitis is a chronic disease that lead to the development of gingival pockets and bony defects. Bony defects are classified according to their anatomy in horizontal (corresponding to suprabony pockets) and vertical (corresponding to infrabony pockets). The reasons for the formation of gingival pockets, together with the etiology of the infrabony defects will be discussed during the course. At the same time, participants will acquire the knowledge about how to make diagnosis and how to classify the bony defects. The principles of Guided Tissue Regeneration will be explained and their surgical application (and why and how to preserve the interdental papilla) will be showed through the use of slides and videos. Participants will also acquire the knowledge on how to classify and make the correct choice on biomaterials (both bone graft and membranes) to use in GTR. On Friday afternoon a surgery session will focus the topics of the theoretical lessons, and participants will have the possibility to watch a live surgery of infrabony defects on a periodontal patient. Saturday morning, an hands-on session will close the course. On animal models participants will create bone defects, manage the soft tissues, fill the defects with biomaterials and suture the flap under the direct supervision of Dr. Cardaropoli.
