3.1. The Concept Model Postcolonial criticism studies the mechanisms of subjugation and resistance in literatures that have emerged in response to contacts between indigenous and colonial cultures, (Tayson, 2006). The analysis of character with regard to the voices it represents seems quite dynamic and complex subject by itself. It becomes more dynamic and more complex when the concern of analysis involves African novels; especially, postcolonial ones, as in this study. The dynamicity and the complexity of analysis are attributed to, among many other factors, the diverse ranges of cultural and historical contacts the continent has encountered during its colonial time.

Consequently, it appears difficult to depend on a single theoretical framework as a model of analysis. It seems, therefore, important to develop a model of critical theoretical framework that pays due attention to the mechanisms of power and forms of resistance by subjects to reverse the domination. The researcher has a conviction that a model developed out of blending the major tenets of critical discourse analysis (CDA) within the accounts of postcolonial criticism can serve as an appropriate theoretical framework.CDA within in postcolonial criticism is an eclectic critical theoretical inquiry that uses critical discourse analysis as a tool within comprehensive theoretical framework of postcolonial criticism. has been developed for this project. Check it Teun A. van Dijk (2009: Vi) argues that society and discourse are related indirectly, and communicative situations are dynamically interpreted and updated by the discourse participants who have got within themselves a sort of concept model. Otherwise, he contends the absence of any direct link between discourse structures and social structures. Language brings together the individuals context model of experience and society. Discourse seems to be, in this context, an indirect effect of individuals attempt to construct social experience. In studying discourse, therefore, we see individual experience in text or speech, and social experience which is the reflection of society. Fairclough (1995), cited in the video documentary, indicates that discourse analysis deconstructs and exposes social inequality in language use, and addresses its discriminatory uses directed at some social groups like women, lower socioeconomic classes, members of ministry groups, etc.

As a result, discourse is not neutral and discourse analysis has to pay attention to political ideology, social history and power structures embodied and expressed in discourse. Discourse analysis is the investigation of how language in texts tries to imply its target community, (Fairclough 1992). discourse analysis accounts textual analysis and social practices ( Fairclough, 2003). Fairclough (1992) puts that discourse analysis a three dimensional process: language analysis in text, social analysis and the analysis of discursive practices. Discourse analysis may be a study of language in various communicative and social contexts Trappes-Lomax (2004) 3.2. Postcolonial criticism stadies the mechanism of subjugation and resistance texts produced in the cultures which have emerged in response to contacts between indigenous and colonizers. The difficulty (toughness) of analysis is attributed to, among many other factors the diverse ranges of cultural and historical contacts the continent has encountered during its colonial time.
