- Very good feedback on all of our work.

I like how she always encourage the students to participate in class. She also is very energetic and seems very wellprepared for every class. Also, I like the way she organizes the materials that we have to learn.

Absolutely excellent! She genuinely cares about her class and the people in it. She listens to peoples opinions and works with her students. She is fair, informative, and an all around well rounded wonderful person. I took the class for some - writing practice, I actually didn't know that we would be reading poetry or fiction, I thought it was more like writing papers. I hated poetry before this class her teaching and explanation really opened my mind and showed me certain meanings that i never saw myself. I am so glad that i took her class. I feel that Jessica does a great job at engaging the class to participate. I think Jessica is a great teacher. I took this class because I needed an extra english course, but I initially wasn't excited about it at all. Jessica made me feel comfortable and she gave really good advice that helped me improve my work significantly, because when I started this course I knew absolutely nothing about writing poems or short stories. "Two Thumbs Up" She was very polite, very kind, and very relateable. She came to class every day with an open mind and expected all of - us to do the same. She was easy to approach, clear in her instructions, and knew her material. I really think Jessica Jacobs is a great instructor! - Jessica is an awesome instructor. Creates a supportive and equivalent learning and sharing community. Very open to different ideas and extremely supportive. Builds a relationship of trust to help nurture growing thought process in students.

Jessica was a very encouraging teacher. She always found something good to say about anything any of us had written, and her suggestions for improvement were never derogatory. She welcomed questions and gave honest answers and suggestions. The poems and short stories she chose for us to cover in class were diverse and interesting. I'm definitely going to miss this class--it was my favorite one so far at Purdue! Great leader of discussion and challenges the class to approach writing and analyzing works in different ways. Very - communicative and made class extremely enjoyable. I highly recommend friends to take a class with Jessica teaching if they have the opportunity. - Jessica is a great instructor. I felt that her class was a great introduction into fiction and poetry writing. Q13 - Make a suggestion(s) for improving the course (a criticism alone is not helpful; tell your instructor how you would fix any problem). Faculty: Jacobs, Jessica L Response Rate: 40.00% -

Make an early reminder for the students who will be workshopping so that they will not have a chance to make an excuse for not having something to be workshopped.

We read the poems/short stories of many poets/authors but we never got to read any of your work. I was curious to learn what type of poet you are. Also, I think you should limit the amount of pages a student can write for their "workshopped" - story. I have no desire to read a 14 page story from a less than amateur writer. Also, you said that I comment less during the prose section of the course. The reason is that I feel that most of my classmate's stories are extremely uninteresting, and I didnt have any positive comments to add. Maybe it would be better if some of the writing assignments were talked about a little more in class so we would know exactly when something was due. Otherwise, I really don't think there needs to be much changed about this course!

- Everything was perfect. Instead of covering stories and inferring literary devices, a study into specific literary devices such as character - development, plot development etc. would be beneficial. This mostly applies to fiction though in poetry there were some times that the interpretation of the poem was left to the class to influence subsequent works. The only thing I can think of to suggest is to add a few short stories that are happier. I don't think that the sad ones are bad, but it would be nice to talk about something happy once in a while ;)
