Jonathan Cain
Piano is one of the hardest instruments to master, very few have do it and been successful. Among those who have mastered it is long time Journey member Jonathan Cain. This Chicago native is not only a keyboard/ piano player, but also singer, songwriter, and guitar player.

Jonathan Cain was born in Chicago, Illinois on February 26, 1950 to Nancy and Leonard Friga. His birth name is Jonathan Leonard Friga, but his name

changed to Cain after marriage. When Jonathan was eight he began accordion lessons. When he was a teenager he played accordion and piano in clubs and at parties. Jonathan went to East Leyden High School in Franklin park, Illinois. He was a survivor of the Our Lady of the Angels School Fire in 1958. The fire killed 95 students and nuns.

In 1976, he released his first record as the Jonathan Cain band. It was called Windy City Breakdown. In 1979 he joined a band called The Babys. Then in 1980 he left The Babys and joined Journey. His first album with Journey was called Escape. On the album Escape is a song we all know called Dont Stop Believing. Neil Schon, Ross Valory, Jonathan Cain, Deen Castronovo, and Arnel Pineda are all the members of Journey. He has been in Journey since 1981.

In 1970, he was asked to join a band called The Babys, which featured singer John Waite. Jonathan was also a talented guitarist. The Babys toured with Journey in 1980, and he was admired by the members of Journey.

When Journey's keyboard player, Gregg Rolie, announced that he was leaving the band, he selected Jonathan as his replacement in the band. When Journey's manager offered him the position, he thought that the manager was joking. He learned that this was his golden opportunity, so he joined Journey in 1981.

Dont Stop Believing Lyrics

Just a small town girl, livin' in a lonely world She took the midnight train goin' anywhere Just a city boy, born and raised in south Detroit He took the midnight train goin' anywhere A singer in a smokey room A smell of wine and cheap perfume For a smile they can share the night It goes on and on and on and on
[ Lyrics from: http://www.lyricsfreak.com/j/journey/dont+stop+believin_20075670.html ]

(Chorus) Strangers waiting, up and down the boulevard Their shadows searching in the night Streetlights people, living just to find emotion Hiding, somewhere in the night. Working hard to get my fill, Everybody wants a thrill Payin' anything to roll the dice, Just one more time Some will win, some will lose Some were born to sing the blues Oh, the movie never ends It goes on and on and on and on (Chorus) Don't stop believin' Hold on to the feelin' Streetlights people Don't stop believin' Hold on Streetlight people Don't stop believin' Hold on to the feelin' Streetlights people
