1. Introduction
Customer satisfaction has absolute priority at Tulsa Dental. This product has been manufactured and subjected to all regulatory standards. For your safety and the safety of your patients Prior to initial use please read the Instructions for use. These explain how to use your product and guarantee a smooth and efficient operation. Intended use TUL-1: For endodontic procedures, for removing carious material, reducing hard tooth structure, cavity preparations, finishing tooth preparations and restorations and polishing teeth. TUL-8M/TUL-16MT: Mechanical root canal preparation with suitable endodontic rotary files. This contra angle is not intended for surgical use. Misuse can damage the contra angle and may involve risk of injury to user and third parties. 3

Skilled application This product is intended for use by trained dental professionals in accordance with the directions for use and safety guidelines here in presented, as well as established workplace safety regulations and procedures. The contra angle should be maintained according to the manufacturers recommendations and in observance of infection control procedures for the safety and well-being of patients. Improper use, e.g. missing hygienic maintenance or noncompliance with our instructions invalidates all claims under warranty and any other claims. WARNING! (RISK OF INJURY) - The operation of the contra angle is permitted only on dental units which are designed for the specific purposes outlined in these directions for use. (See page 15 for technical data.) - Always ensure the correct operating conditions. - Check the contra angle for damage and loose parts prior to each use. - This contra angle is not intended for use with the Aseptico ITR motor, due to the motors predefined torque settings.

Hygienic maintenance prior to initial use The contra angle is in a clean condition when delivered. Lubricate and sterilize the contra angle prior to initial use. - Lubrication page 12 - Sterilization page 13 5

4. Operation
Assembly and removal CAUTION (TO PREVENT DAMAGE) Do not assemble or remove the contra angle during the operation.

Push contra angle onto the motor. Check for secure hold. Remove contra angle from the motor by pulling in an axial direction or by pressing the release button.

Test run - Run contra angle without inserted root canal file. - If you observe problems (e.g. vibrations or unusual noise) contact your service agent, before using.

Root canal files WARNING! (RISK OF INJURY) - Use only root canal files which are in good condition. - Insert root canal files into contra angle only when the motor is stationary. - Do not interfere with the running of root canal files. - Do not activate the push button while unit is running. This can lead to detachment of files and heat built up in unit. It is advisable to use a rubber dam while the contra angle is in or near patients mouth.

To change root canal file

Insert the root canal file into the contra angle until it reaches the back stop (a) and turn either clockwise or counterclockwise until it engages (b). Check secure placement by applying slight axial tension. Remove the root canal file by pushing the push button.

5. Hygienic maintenance
WARNING! (RISK OF INJURY) Clean the contra angle after every procedure. Wear protective gloves. Remove root canal file before disinfecting. Detach the contra angle from the motor. Do not disassemble the contra angle. (See page 11 for further instructions.)

External disinfection


Alcohol

Clean contra angle externally with alcohol. Dry contra angle carefully.

or Contra-angles with this symbol can be cleaned and disinfected in a thermo washer disinfector. Lubricate the contra-angle immediately after thermo washer disinfection.

Lubricate with service oil (See page 14 for types of service oil.) Follow these procedures immediately after each use prior to sterilization.

Insert the nozzle of the service oil container into the back of the contra angle and spray 1-2 seconds. (Follow the complete instructions in the intruction for use of the service oil.) Wipe contra angle with gauze or soft cloth.

Recommended lubrication cycles - After each use prior to sterilization. 12

Sterilization - Must sterilize before each use. - Follow the operating instructions of the sterilization equipment manufacturer. - Only sterilize cleaned and lubricated contra angles. - Secure contra angle in sterile goods packaging. - Remove contra angle from bag after autoclaving. Possible methods - Autoclaving is recommended up to 275 F for 12 minutes, including fast steam sterilization. Recommended sterilization cycles - Before each use. 13

6. Accessories
Use only original accessories and spare parts. Service oils W&H Service Oil F1 (W&H, Austria) AseptiSpray (Aseptico) Kavo Spray (Kavo, Canada) (Nozzle should be included with service oil.)

The user must ensure by correct selection of the operating conditions, that there is no danger to the user, patient or third parties. Always follow recommendations made by the manufacturer of the root canal files (e.g. in respect to speed, application).
