Faith Formation
Do you have a child in 4th-8th grade? If so, give your child a chance to get involved with other Catholic youth in our parish! RSVP to any event your child plans to attend at cbarrett@standrewcatholic.com. If you would like to be added to my email list and notified of upcoming events (or last minute changes regarding event details), contact Christen Barrett at the email listed above. Many of the events need volunteers for transportation. All volunteers must have a completed volunteer packet and drivers form on file with the Archdiocese.
Stewardship
Although religious faith is a strong force in the lives of many Americans, a dominant secular culture often contradicts our values. This culture in which destructive isms:

exercise seductive, powerful influences. There is a strong tendency to privatize faith, to push it to the margins of society, confining it to peoples hearts, or, at best, their homes, while excluding it from the marketplace of ideas where policy is formed and men and women acquire their view of life and its meaning*. As Catholics, we must assert our values; charitably and consistently. This is the art form of stewardship.

OVERNIGHT SHELTER
St. Martin de Porres will once again feed the homeless at the cold weather shelters at the Shrine of the Immaculate Conception and Central Presbyterian on Monday, January 2nd. There are three ways to help: prepare food (we provide recipes), serve the food at the shelters (only requires about 3 hours, usually home between 8:30 & 9:00pm), stay overnight until 6:30am (safe atmosphere with private sleeping quarters). We have the most difficulty finding overnight volunteers, but it is really easy duty. We break the night up into watches, and since guests sleep between 9 pm and 5:30am, there is plenty of quiet time to catch up on reading, paperwork, etc. The more volunteers we have, the more sleep we get! We try to carpool from St. Andrew and leave by 5:15pm, or you can meet us downtown at the shelter. Eileen (Helena) Nelson will once again be coordinating the volunteers. Thanks Eileen!
Please e-mail StMartin@standrewcatholic.com for more information, or call the parish office.

Upcoming Events
CASINO NIGHT
St. Andrew's is planning another Casino night on Saturday, February 18th. It was a huge success last year with fun, fellowship and fundraising. This year, we hope to bring in money to do some badly needed refurbishing inside the church. Dennis Klein will be running the event. Jane Smith will be heading up solicitation for the live auction and raffle items. She will be soliciting help from all the ministries. All money raised will be used to help our parish. We would love to have 100% participation from each ministry in prize donations and participation in the fun.
NOW ENROLLIING
Our Preschool Program at St. Andrew provides a safe and nurturing environment for one year old through four year old preschoolers. The program allows your child to be part of a Catholic based, social, yet structured setting, as well as getting our four year olds ready for kindergarten. The staff at St. Andrew are all very dedicated, quality teachers. Whether you are looking for a couple of free hours without your one year old or a kindergarten readiness program, St. Andrew Preschool may just be your answer. We will be pre-registering for the 2012 - 2013 school year for those currently enrolled the week of January 9th. Registration for those new to the program will be January 26th & 27th . If interested, call the preschool office at 770-642-1636.
BAPTISM CLASS
All parents who wish to have their children baptized in the month of February will need to attend a Baptism Class on Monday, January 23rd. Please call the church office to register. Parents will need to be registered and active members of the parish for a minimum of three months prior to taking the class.
