Course title Submission date The Book Review A Book review is the summary analysis of content of a text provided by a reviewer who reads through the text and deduces various methods employed by a writer. This is also the opinion of the reviewer about a given text. Consequently, the reviewer is able to report to other readers about the events in the text thus enhancing proper understanding of the message being conveyed the books author. The following document is an expository essay on the book review: involves a discussion of character, setting and plot to make a point about a book. Character is the action in a story because the characters are the ones who perform the action and move the story thus promote the writing of the book. The analysis of a character in a story depends on the interaction of the character with other characters in a story. For example, for a character to be termed as nagging, this will depend on repeated nature of the character when complaining about others or events in the story. Therefore, characters bring about characterization throughout the story, which is an important aspect that needs to be analyzed during a book review. Additionally, from the interaction of these characters the author is able to come up with various themes, which are important aspects that demand special attention during a book review. For example, when the characters talk about religion or business, then the important arising theme shall be religion or trade. Moreover, through the interaction of these characters, they are

For instance, characters love each other, they promise to marry on discussion of the issue with the parents they disapprove one ends up taking poison as the other shoots the parents. This is all about plot development. Moreover, from the relation of characters, the reader\ reviewer will be able to determine various styles used by the author for example, from talking habits of the characters the writer may be able to use dialogue, sarcasm among other styles. The reviewer may also choose to discuss on different types of characters. Therefore, a character is the life of a book. Setting is also another important aspect about book that should be considered during a review of a book. Basically, setting is the framework of events in any piece of literature. It includes the when, how and where the events happen in a story. For many years, the authors have used setting to create moods for their stories. For example, on a wedding there is a joyful mood as in a funeral there is a melancholic mood. The setting also helps the author to create mental pictures in the minds of the readers, which enhance understanding of the ideas in a book. Creation of a setting demands a very powerful vivid description. Apart from that, setting can be used to define the character or characterization of a subject or an individual. For instance, for an individual who likes going to church on every Sunday to pray, he or she can be said to be religious. If the same individual pretends to go to church yet the individual robs kills or commit other act considered as sin by the Christian faithful who go to church, the character may be said to be hypocritical. Moreover, the presence these religious places in this society may develop the theme of religious people. Thus, setting is responsible for development of themes. Setting enhances plot develop in most stories. This is always possible through allowing the characters to move from one point to another or stay within the same locality for a period of time. Thus, this defines their action at given places at given times.

Surname 3 The other important aspect about book review that should be thoroughly observed is the plot. The plot is the organization of events of events in any literary or work of fiction. The events are not necessarily supposed to be sequential, though they need to be orderly and complete to avoid confusing the reader. This aspect is important in book review because through it, the reviewer may be able to see various literary styles. For example, an author may interrupt the flow of a plot to tell the audience about what happened earlier (flashback) or what will happen in future (foreshadowing) thus, it is responsible for initiation of styles in the work of literature. Moreover, the plot can be used to give a character or characterization. For example, the plot can be designed in a manner that a character kills several characters thus termed as murderous or psychopathic. Thus, the plot may define the characters in any story. The plot is also responsible for creation of themes in a given story. For instance, when the author decides that the characters in a story shall be serious scholars who are money-minded and mean, then the themes that may arise from this story shall be education, materialism and misery. Therefore, these three aspects are the book. This is because they are responsible for formation of theme, characterization and literary styles that are used in the writing of a book. Thus, these three aspects are enough to make a point about a book during a book review. Although the book review is mainly concerned with discussing the structure and content of a book, the reviewer is at liberty to give his or her own opinion about the book. Note that both positive and negative opinions regarding the book are allowed. At the end of the book review, it is advisable that one recommends the book for other people who have not read the book.
