On the specific issue of creative freedom via government restriction, I am full of the opinion that the later should

give place to the former. Creation is the soul of art. And creation can only be nurtured in an environment of freedom. Human history has shown that the flourishing eras of creative works were those always accompanied by great freedom, no matter whether ideologically or politically. These artistic creations enriched peoples spiritual life of that time left the generations to have valuable legacy, and overall make a great part of human civilization for ever. Without them, human civilization might take on another look undesirable to us all. Nearly any restriction is bound to impede artistic expression. Of all, the most destructive force is from the government with the strong power behind it. Improper government restrictions kill artistic creation. Without artistic creation, peoples spiritual life will be in stagnation. And this will further affect peoples physical life directly and indirectly. Ultimately the whole society will be in an appalling state. Those dark ages in human history generally fell in the formula. Therefore, for more colorful life of human beings, artistic creations should be encouraged in freedom. It is the responsibility of the government to help forest such an art-friendly atmosphere, rather than exert restrictions.
Art and literature represent that whether one country possesses a civilized cultural standing. That is the reason why some people think that creators should produce works under the circumstance without any restriction. Increasingly however, others consider that those works always transcend the moral codes and need some schemes to manage this phenomenon. In this essay, I will examine some of the arguments for and against whether governments should interfere artists as well as their works. From ancient times, Art and literature play an important role in the process of one country development. Take Renaissance for example, it claims free creation without any restraint and emphasizes the feelings of people. Undoubtedly, we indeed appreciate many masterpieces from the period of Renaissance. Furthermore, it affects art and literature profoundly and also brings the advance of the arts. Thus, governments should support artists rather than restricting them. On the other hand, both the arts and pornography lack of clear definition. More precisely, some genres, such as films, literatures and painting frequently exceed the standards of moral, which affect the thought of audiences even cause criminal behaviors. That is to say, it is of vital importance that authorities should institute proper censorship as well as classification, which not only protect underage children but also promote the quality of arts. In conclusion, I agree that artists definitely need a ample space which help them create great masterpiece. Yet I am fully convinced that appropriate censorship and classification are necessary. It will continue to benefit every audience as well as the field of art and literature.

In conclusion, restricting artistic liberties is a very complex issue which should be handled from a practical point of view. In principle, freedom of artists should be respected, but if it leads to negative impacts in the society government should restrict artists.
