an authentic, Southern-bred boogie-woogie piano player he has been rockin' and shoutin' the blues since 1957. An Alabama native and longtime Texas resident, Highlights of his long career include performing with Big Joe Turner in the early '60s, working with Jimmy T99 Nelson and Lavelle White, touring Eastern Europe, and receiving the direct "laying on of hands" from Texas piano legends Floyd Dixon, Big Walter the Thunderbird, and Katie Webster. As a teenager, he sat in with the Jimmy Dorsey Band and Bill Black's Combo, and jammed with members of Woody Herman's New Thundering Herd. In addition to his blues and jazz credentials, Vest has also appeared with many country music legends, including Red Foley and Faron Young. He wrote the first songs ever recorded by Tammy Wynette.
