HISTORY

The founder of Mahesh Tutorials is Mr. Mahesh Shetty. Back in 1960 s Mr. Mahesh Shetty was pursuing a career in army, but then he decided to enter the world of teaching. So, Mr. Mahesh Shetty took up a job with Dr Shetty s Academy, not realizing where the journey would lead him. In 1988, he started Mahesh Tutorials. With banks unwilling to finance his land purchase, he mortgaged his mother s jewellery, took loans from a maternal uncle and his grandfather, and booked a property worth Rs 6 lakh in Mumbai. Mr. Mahesh Shetty was fortunate that Parents wanted him to teach their school-going children, and paid him the entire fee amount at the time of admission. Soon he purchased more property in two Mumbai suburbs, and entered into a partnership model to cut his risks. By 2006, Mahesh Tutorials grew to 26 branches across Mumbai. When the class started, only 2 faculty members were there which included Mr. Mahesh Shetty and Mr. Narayan. The first batch they started with was SSC. Later on they also started with 8th and 9th batch. Students were scoring well under Mr. Mahesh Shetty s guidance. This led to mouth publicity of the tutorial. Earlier, they didn t give any advertisement or hoarding for the publicity of their class. Mahesh tutorials main marketing strategy was mouth publicity. There work was speaking for them. As and when people came to know about Mahesh Tutorials the demand for them went on increasing.
